Green - Exp Penalty for Hybrids?

Hey all, just got the EQ itch again after many years and came here to find out a new server is launching in a couple weeks (what great timing!) I'm wondering if hybrids will have the huge exp penalty when the server launches or not? I tried searching but seem to been finding conflicting information.

I'm considering rolling a SK as it sounds fun, but likely won't bother if the massive exp penalty exists. Thanks in advance for any info anybody is able to share!

Large race hybrids will have 60%+ exp penalty.

So? If it's the class you "want" to play, who cares? The only way this makes sense is if you really didn't want to play the class......which, afterwards, no longer makes sense because why were you considering that class if you didn't really want to play it?

The point was, I don't think anyone would consider a 60%+ exp penalty "small'.

Even if it’s a leisurely stroll, I’d rather not do it with 2 broken legs.

Frst off, it's not 60, it's 1.4x1.2=1.68(troll SK only)
Second off, that only applies to soloing. In a group, you earn proportional to the exp you've earned. Troll SKs will be more exp, similar to how a char 2-3 levels higher in the group will earn more exp. Your group will need more kills to level, maybe 10% more. But it will also probably be a better group with a tank that has tons of str/STA and snap aggo.

I like the spirit of what you're saying, but that "will also probably be a better group" part threw me. If you crunched the numbers I rather doubt that a Troll SK's additional value over a Human Warrior will be even close to the extra XP he'll take from the group.

I still think people should invite Troll SKs to their group, but it's just that it's not correct to imply the class/race benefits are balanced with their exact penalty. I think just about everyone (including Verant later on, at least for classes) would agree the exact percentages originally assigned as penalties were not perfectly matched to the race/class powers.

But unless you want a group member to have to root everything, on Green I think you'll want a PC to tank.

But this is the best time to level up a warrior! It will be damn near impossible to do it once the population moves past the lower level zones.

I think I'll stick to the opinions of the "number crunchers" over the guy who can't even play in first person without "die from trains on the daily" ... especially since [I]every player in Classic managed that basic task.

I leveled a human paladin on a progression server to 30ish and it was very noticeable how much better a warrior was at taking damage. I felt pretty pathetic actually at times.
