There was a post v from 2004 talking about Stein of moggok being 6/28 (which matches the Alakazam entry). It's not clear what the context is though.

Here's a dude trying to sell the 1hb version. Maybe someone should ask him where he got it? The post is recent.

Reports on TEST about it being a weapon currently and 'hoping' it stays that way. Something else about how if you unequip it then you can't re-equip in offhand.

I'm too tired to make heads of tails of it now and have never done the quest and unfamiliar with the item.

Seems like Stein of Moggok shouldn't be in at release, but "a Glowing Stein" which can be completed by any class (seems like quest was different, easier? Didn't have the faction component to it). In August 1999 they nerfed the quest and created Stein of Moggok as reward.

Is possible all existing Glowing Steins converted to a 1hb type Stein of Moggok, but quest ones weren't?

They did "Ancient" versions of legacy items by the looks of it.

Hell of an obscure one for them to get.

I had the 1hb version restored to me by a GM instead when they replaced a stein due to a trade bug. Then I got another of the new version. You could wield both at once and I'm not mixing that up with the crude stein.

I had Glowing Stein on live - traded Ruby legs n random junk for it ( :cain: )

it looked like a lantern, within a couple days...I logged in and it was Stein of Moggok instead with the cup graphic that I preferred anyway

BTW It was not a weapon when I had the Glowing Stein on Live.

But yes totally had lantern graphic, and I only heard ab it “through friends”

The only stein I can remember with weapon stats was the Fool's Gold Stein. 1hb, 2dmg 28 delay all/all prime/sec.

I am also pretty sure the "a Glowing Stein" was replaced by the Stein of Moggok, and did not co-exist with it. Could be wrong.

I am having a hard time finding anything about the glowing stein online.

Pending update:

-Prior to September 1999, Stein of Moggok is named 'A Glowing Stein' and has the appearance of a lantern. When Sep1999 is enabled, the existing Glowing Steins will transform into Steins of Moggok with 3 charges.

-Clurg requires indifferent or better faction to complete the turn in for the Stein quest.

I found it odd that all patch notes and most comments discuss the stein changing in 09/1999, but there is a comment by someone on Everlore in 08/1999 stating:

the other stein you are refering to the adds INT is the glowing stein.(I have one but as of today they suposedly changed the name to stein of moggok or something stupid and it has to be held in your primary slot now) And does this cast minor healing randomly or do you set it off by right clicking it or something? and what lvl does it take to kill those guards? and can you hold it in either hand? I'd like to have 2 steins in my hands that'd be wicked. ok thanx please respond soon.

They were testing lots of changes like the DoT kiting nerf on Test server at that time so he may have been reacting to news from Test server. Test patcher notes were usually posted on eqvault etc.
