For those brave souls planning on rolling a warrior in Green, what are your armor goals going to be? Is Crafted worth pursuing?
Dolalin

Crafted won't be in the game at launch.
You'll be wielding 2x Langseax, wearing banded and bronze if you're lucky, and drooling over rubicite.

Oh! When did crafted get added?

I want to say Fall of 1999 so a fair few patches in.

Also, crafted will definitely be worth pursuing once it's in. It's not too hard to get and great until planar gear.

I want Lustrous Russet, but with nearly every melee class (even rogues) going for it, it will probably be way too contested to get a full set.

This would be my suggestion for gearing pre-raid:
Early Weapons: Langseax, Obsidian Dagger
Mid Weapons: Electrum-Bladed Wakizashi, Gnoll Hide Lariat
Late Weapons: Short Sword of the Ykesha
This is probably what you should be going for with weapons.
Early Armor: Banded (Visible Total AC = 63)
Mid Armor: Bronze (Visible Total AC = 83)
Late Armor: Rubicite (Visible Total AC = 92), Fine Plate (Visible Total AC = 92)
Post-SolRo Armor: Crafted (Visible Total AC = 106)
I honestly wouldn't bother with Rubicite unless you are after it for limited release reasons. Fine Plate has the exact same AC, you won't be competing with everyone else (including casters) for rolls. All you need to do is find out who the server smithy is (on Blue it was Bubbles). Help them out by farming components for the leather padding and I am sure they will be able to work out a decent deal.
Earrings: Diamondine Earring
Face: Dented Brass Mask, Grotesque Alloy Mask
Rings: Jagged Bands (pre-SolRo), Platinum Fire Wedding Rings (Post-SolRo).
Head: Skull Shaped Barbute
Wrist: Hero Bracers
Shoulders: Crested Spaulders, Carnal Pauldrons, Crafted Pauldrons, Bloodstained Mantle
Back: Hooded Black Cloak, Cloak of Shadows, Werewolf Skin Cloak, Cloak of the Ice Bear
Waist: Flowing Black Silk Sash
Range: Runed Bone Fork
These are the things I would be aiming for pre-Planar.

I feel like the fbss is probably the biggest pipe dream in classic. Talk about a giant demand.

Wenai: I don't believe fine plate was in until the Kunark-era's major blacksmithing patch. P99 having it originally was thus something of a glitch. In classic prior to sol-ro players upgraded their bronze armor to rubicite or mix-and-match pieces. Higher-level tank types often ended up looking like a walking scrapyard.

Really? Oh man I had no idea it wasn't originally in. Rubicite will be awful for people. I fully expect everyone to be rolling on it due to it being limited release.
Blue release was a lot different. People were passing even limited items to the people who needed them more, but I am not naive enough to expect that to be the case this time around. I am fully expecting server first full set of rubicite will be a wizard with it in their bags. ;)

Danth is correct. I think I'm the only person that had a fine plate set in the classic era (on live). I often had people sending me tells about it. Fashionquest!
Rubicite wasn't rolled on by everyone at the time, because nobody knew it would be taken out. Wenai is probably right about the wizard lol.
Thanks for the list of gear Wenai, it's definitely good information :)

are we talking about the vendor FP then!?
that's like 3,500pp for the visible pieces haha.

I wore a suit of this (the small version) on Jimjam when I first started. He was a self geared alt. I smashed a lot of willowisps with a blood forged warhammer until they no longer gave xp and used the cash from greater light stone quest to plate up, which i wore until i quested crafted.
Luckily for me the sellback on this armour is pretty decent so it wasn't money down the drain.
Edit: i just remembered finding a bracer of the hidden and splitting the plat 3 ways with my trio may have also helped to fund this

Honestly when you look at the other options in Classic it doesn't even sound that stupid to farm 6kpp and buy the vendor armor i guess lol.
I was toying around with what kind of weapons will be available for a warrior at early levels... Are the Combine weapons up at launch?

Nobody used vendor-bought steel plate armor because it was expensive but had the same AC as the vastly cheaper bronze armor. It was a little bit lighter than medium bronze though. A rare few players bought it for the fashion simply because it looked like silver plate armor instead of bronze color. Ringmail (dropped) and chainmail (vendor) shared the same relationship, as did rawhide (dropped) versus leather (bought). The leather set was cheap enough that players did actually buy it fairly often, while chainmail was only rarely purchased and steel plate, hardly ever.

I think someone posted that crafting wasn't put in for a while so we won't have banded at start?
I'll be after whatever I can get my hands on for the first few levels for sure.

no, 'crafted' armour wasn't in at release. Ironically 'crafted' armour is the name of an armour line that is quested. This was put in with temple of sol ro.
Basic trade skill stuff like banded armor was in from the start, though I believe the trivials for this got changed around a bunch.
If you are interested in smithing, skill it up early, as the trivials end up getting altered in a way that makes reaching high skill levels less easy.

Aren't enchanted gold bars a crafting item and crafting isn't in at start?
Nagoya

"Crafting" as in tradeskills is in at launch i think. Blacksmithing, jewelcrafting and whatnot.
What is not here at launch is Crafted Armor, the name of the quest armor set for the warrior, akin to Ivy Etched for Ranger or Lambent for Bard, etc.
I am pretty sure you can still enchant gold. But who knows ^^;

I'm not 100% sure how feasible it is to get this, but it seems to have an excellent ratio for a relatively easy-to-complete and low level quest in Ak'anon. If you're a small race, this thing is definitely worth looking into.
https://wiki.project1999.com/Bull_Smasher
6/20 beats out Langseax, and the extra stats are nifty. The only problem is that the quest reward is random, so you may not get it.

Its also not magic, right?
Still, like twice as good as you expect for the level. Silvery war axe is 6/22 and drops from the king goblin camp area in perma (level 30ish camp?).

It's not magic, but it's relatively easy to obtain at a low level and should carry a warrior comfortably through Crushbone or other lowbie zones for most of the first twenty levels, which is a point where warriors start to have other options (polished granite tomahawk, etc). It'll have value even beyond level 20 depending on where the warrior decides to go next... Unrest is liable to be virtually unplayable at most hours.
I think that simply getting your feet off the ground will be one of the hardest challenges to surmount as a Green warrior. Rare little gems like this help make that process much easier.

Every time I've gone after that thing it ends up being way more trouble than it's worth, I don't know if it's just my luck or what but I always gave up and went for something less draining on my sanity.

Non magical but one of best item in game in classic. I also tend to fail to get it. I don't think it is more trouble than it is worth. Nothing in classic is more trouble than it is worth. Thats the glory of it. All quests valid and valuable.
You can play up to level 60 in full banded and it isn't so bad. When you group, you're ok. Fun times ahead.

Yeah Bull Smasher is one of the best starting weapon you could grab but...
Same here, I tried on Blue just for fun and... oh boy. good luck ^^
Anyway, I half-confirmed on Discord that Combine Weapons are a thing day one.
So I think I will aim for a Combine Long Sword (http://wiki.project1999.com/Combine_Long_Sword) at 52pp as my "first" weapon.
Then try to farm a Dragoon Dirk, maybe a Gladius, maybe a PGT, maybe a Brazen Brass Kilij if quest is in.
We will see! fun times ahead!
Not sure about race yet....

The idea of trying to organize groups that are interested in farming solid warrior weapons is a bit daunting, haha. You have to convince a group of people to travel to some faraway place (risky), then hope the camp isn't taken by another person or group, then hope the placeholder isn't there, then try to justify the fact that you likely won't be in a good EXP camp to pass the time.
Warriors are gonna need some serious TLC from their guilds / friends to make it in Green, haha :) And we have virtually no way to pay it back except with the promise that we'll be solid tanks in the end.

Someone on the P99 Wiki has, annoyingly, deleted information on which mobs in CT drop Rubicite. Is it kind of like Karnor, where any random mob can drop various pieces of the set? Or do specific mobs / bosses drop specific pieces? This information would be quite handy to know.

Rubicite occupies the same drop tables as Ravenscale (the latter replaced the former in CT). Look up ravenscale and that's what'll drop the rubicite. It is regrettably not a "anything in the level range can drop it" like bronze/rawhide.

I recall Obsidian Shard being a great tank weapon, and it drops in SolA where people will be grouping anyway. Back in early P99 I went there as a warrior and got two of them in one day. It has an okay ratio and a high aggro proc, so unless something about it has changed since I had that warrior (like a decade ago), that's a great pair of weapons to aim for. They'd serve you just fine until SSoY. Only annoying thing is that they look like starter daggers so you don't feel much like a warrior.

Ah yes. The journey to acquire a rotting Painbringer. A rite of passage for any young warrior. Lots of people did that here when the server was young, including me.

I'll be after whatever I can get my hands on for the first few levels for sure.
Banded was in at the start, I want to say that the guide I used when I started playing in July of '99 was written by a beta player (he referred to a skill of 80 as "master").
Initial jewelry crafting was bizarre, it was revamped early to the system we use here (without the velious stuff), I think around the same time they added the evade ability for rogues.
Alchemy skill-ups were broken for a long time due to incompetent testing (there is no nicer description, it's not hard to get harsher about people telling you it works as intended when they only test the ability on toons assigned a skill of ~ 100.) It was basicly impossible to skill-up alchemy at first, might still be able to find discussion of it on alt.games.everquest newsgroup if that's archived somewhere.
