This screenshot story is dedicated to my new friend Jibartik, and also to my hero Salem.

I was in Field of Bone recruiting for <Castle> (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=322010) when...a challenger appeared! A level 60 wizard named Proagrious was powerleveling his Iksar proteges and he boldly threw down the gauntlet. He took a little damage from an Iksar footpad, but he was confident in the awesome power at his fingertips.

I am a level 54 wizard about to face off against a level 60 wizard. But I was willing to bet he wasn't from Red. How was his resist gear? How many clickies had he collected? How were his buff stacking skills? I was willing to bet my life and honor for a chance to prove Seaglass's power.

https://i.imgur.com/Dp4Fu9L.png

First, I dispelled him 3 times. Then I started alternating Draught of Fire with Shock of Lightning.

Meanwhile, the resist gear I wear because I hope to endure AEs on a raid someday (and also due to a year and a half of Red paranoia) protected me from his deadly magicks. He began to flee and I felt a pang of fear that he would outrange my final spell.

https://i.imgur.com/hmHUwLX.png

Luckily, he was caught in a torrent of fire. The battle was won. The undergnome had emerged as the victor.

Proagrious wisely logged off immediately to preserve his 6-minute rez timer.

Proagrious, I'm so sorry to cause you the hassle of porting to EJ and running back naked!! And now I'm sorry for posting this! But it's too much fun!

And I am still shaking as I write this.

Grandpa Nirgon, can you tell us all a little bit about resists on Blue as compared to Red? I'm ready for a bedtime story.

Thank you for the attention, thread responders. It's always fun, as I'm sure you know.

I can't nuke the shit out of you without getting closer! MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA

WTH is this god awful UI window placement?

Haha. What do you dislike about it? I'd like to hear feedback.

I think it's logical. The things I need to monitor are near the center of the screen: what spells I have memmed, my hp and mana, target's name and hp, who is currently in group and their hp. Who says the Self and Group windows have to be all the way against the edge of the screen like the default placement?

Combat, spell, and exp spam are in the left chat box in case I want something to squint at while my eyes glaze over. All communication is in the right chat box, near my target & hp/mana & group window. I shamelessly copied this format from the legendary Salem (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=235580).

FYI, I bind /who to movement keys in case I ever log into a character on Red again, so I need a window for /who spam to go to. I made the /who window transparent and put it up in a corner, like Salem does. That way, it won't obstruct my view of the action, but I can nervously check it like a small quivering mammal.

Definitely looks like a case of form follows function. It isn't pretty, but there's a logic to it.

Reminds me of the time I killed Beastagor (Salem) in seb on my drastically undergeared Ikky sk. Had the shakes then too

Edit:
Forgot to say, excellent post OP! Good fight. Also, I agree Salem is a legend. He probably killed me 30 times vs the one time I got him ;)

Very nice, played it smart. I salute you sir. I wouldn't mind taking you on myself. I am a 60 wizard and I enjoy PvP. I don't get to do that very often. My skills have probably dwindled b/c of that but it's nice to see that some still enjoy 1v1 battles.

It should be impossible for a 60 wizard to lose to a 54 wizard unless you are retarded

Haha Chortles. And we must assume Nirgon was actually ready for PvP, unlike my opponent. Then again, things happen sometimes...circumstances make you vulnerable. Did you do all that damage to Nirgon yourself or was this a more opportunistic killshot?

Jibartik
09-16-2019, 01:34 PM
Wizards are better at killing druids if the druid is in an EXP group at the city of mist and the wizard is on the 3rd floor.

Kiithsa
09-16-2019, 01:43 PM
Druids with epic are pretty tough to beat, you need to be ready to dispel yourself and have some empty buff slots at the top. If you eat that dot you're done.

Haha! Sounds like it was someone I never met called Prince at the wheel. Still, 51 versus 58...impressive! XD

Why did you use that root for the kill shot? Did it cast faster? Or were you just showing off?

IIRC strat was fast cast time (he did resist) to then dump nukes was the thought process

I'm down =) I think i would try it first with my normal gear and spell setup. I wouldn't feel right donning all my resist gear and using Lure of Ice. That seems unfair.

My normal spells are, Draught of Ice, Sunstrike, Ice Spear, Snare, and Root. There's a decent chance I could lose there if I don't use Lures or dispell.

But if you'd rather fight me fully prepared I'm fine with that too.

I would also like to see the server staff do more PvP events. NOT the FFA crap that's been happening somewhat lately. The last 2 events that I went to went the same way. One guild brings 30ish people to the event and they team up to wipe out anyone who isn't in their guild before the even start to fight among themselves. I prefer 1v1.

Duels can be fun, but the real fun is ambushing people and catching them with their pants down. Or in escaping from an ambush because you were prepared and had an escape route/tactic planned. Or in risking it all and going in against an opposing force when they're engaging a raid mob.

But it will be fun. Definitely prepare as much as you like.

Ataxio

Lmao, that explains why he has a corpse in FoB. I thought he went AFK and got merbbed to death.

Proagrious is quite a character, but has been doing great things since we started here back in 2013. Lost count of the free J-boots he's handed out.

Ataxio

Proagrious will probably never create a forum account and respond here.

I'd imagine he's lashing out because he's tired of losing to Ataxio, so he takes his rage out on my people. Luckily this ended in gnome on gnome violence.

Seems like quite a nice fellow, and with a sense of humor too.

Really, he is. Somehow when I started a new character, without anyone else knowing, I would run into him and he would always help me out in some manner. Damn, I was hoping to come back for Green only but remembering him makes me miss the (good elements of the) community.

Seaglass is the best. (Tenjinn, Varrian, Lionharrt, Keidin here - *wave*).

I can vouch!!!

Castle is also an awesome guild. Just some nice people all enjoying the game together, helping each other out, thumbs up!
