I'll be on Herod, Horde probably but there's a chance I could go Alliance last minute.

Grobbulous / Alliance here!

I have toons made on Herod, but Im strongly considering Grobbulus/Horde. Herod might be too crowded of a server to get shit done. I just think of the opening days of Nostalrius, and how much of a shit show that was. I dunno if I wanna go through something similar again.

Good luck on your Herod wait times, I'll be playing the game <3

Not sure which other server yet, still getting info on where everyone else is going. It'll be horde though ^^

Mankrik. I’ve played and raided on Nost pvp. The amount of griefing and abuse is depressing.

Made a guild for P99rs to get together on Herod, Horde faction. Turns out a ton of people are interested in some wow classic

Swish isnt wrong, que times for us is going to be horrible on Herod but it will settle down and in the long run, we will be on very nicely populated server.

Mankirk, because all my buddies are afraid of world PvP.

Was originally going Herod but guild decided to switch over to Skeram which has already filled up to medium pop after 24hrs (which is still more populated than any high pop server on release). Discord also seems less douchey than Herod was.

I'm sure they will all be playable in the long run -- But I'm going Grobbulus instead of Whitemane (the Main West PvP server). As much as all miss all the joke potential with "Whitemane."

I expect classic WoW to dwarf any EQ projects during their launch.

Horde, Herod. Got a small crew going as well to play casually.

Absolutely. EQ was never a mainstream thing. WoW, the Disneyland of computer gaming.

If nothing else, its going to be fun to witness the tidal wave of mmo dorks flocking back to WoW. If Nostalrius can get a crowd like this for closing down, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLNzbBpQ6E0) the Blizzard approved opening of a Classic server is going to be monstrous.

I still can't decide my main!

Torn between a Holy Reckoning Paladin build, Marksman Hunter or Single Target Frost Mage build....

The whole shot clipping BS that I have to watch out for on the Hunter looks to be super annoying...otherwise I think Hunter would have the edge over the other two...

Paladin is a lot worse at farming than those other 2 if that makes a difference to you. I think Holy Rec paladins are also a little touchy to gear because they step on other classes "turf" PvE. There is a difference between + healing and + Damage/Healing and PvE paladins are generally going for the former.

No one will want a pal that spec unless you are 100% geared you will just be a flash tard with a /qh button

Hunters kite stuff and have hard jobs later, if thats something you think you can do go for it, but guilds wont have more then 1 or 2

All mages will be frost for MC And bwl which will come later. Will release with only UBRS As raid content not even zg will be open and AQ will be months away

Also hunters have dogshit dps in vanilla

Technically on the holy reckoning paladin build i have enough holy to be the flash of light spammer on raids np. I don't see why a guild wouldnt take me since i still can do the job. The reckoning part would be nice to hold my own since its a pvp server. I also like the fact that i can heal or tank 5 mans. I think I decided on the hunter though and I'll alt the paladin and mage.

NEVER played WOW but super hyped for tonight!

Apparently I've been reading that I should play on a PVP server if I wanna get the "TRUE"
classic WOW experience?

Also what's a good group-required class that's also likely to be a bit underplayed?

Druids are mighty fine for all around stuff pre-raid content. After that they are likely pushed into Resto specs or maybe feral if you like farming gnomeragan... But like for first char, experiencing the game feel? Really dig the druids. They get a bit of -everything- in their arsenal.

I'D also vouch for the RP-PVP server. They are very similar if not identical to PVP servers in the sense of competition, but the layer of RP really goes a long way for immerson + feels of hatred :P

I'll respectfully disagree with the above poster involving the druid in vanilla. The druid is a blast to play for leveling up, doing PvP, and running 5 man dungeons as either a tank or a healer (or a crappy dps pre good gear at lvl 60). The issue at lvl 60 is the tremendous drop off in strength due to leather itemization that's available to the druid - at which point PvP is still fun but for PvE it's heal botting for raids only, and the tools resto druids are given are shoddy in comparison to the other healing choices.

To answer your question for group focused class - A warrior that actually collects tanking gear and puts in the practice to become a good tank will always be wanted. Always. For horde side, the Shaman is probably the strongest healer choice with dwarf priest still being the strongest ally pick. For dps, both a skilled rogue and even a not-so-skilled Mage are superb for a group to have, no doubt about it. The mage gets the ez mode Sheep use for CC along with some limited roots, and the Rogue gets the distract / sap / blind package that can pull the teeth out of many encounters. Granted, a Hunter can do the secondary pull / frost trap combo for ez crowd control, but then you're stuck playing a hunter.

You can honestly just pick whatever class you feel like playing, but for PvE what I've stated above is common knowledge for the vanilla game for a reason.

after tonight they will have a total of 41 servers

41

Holy hell. It's like the consumer base has been screaming for a quality MMO experience or something. And all it took was Blizzard eating crow and admitting the direction they took the game from the Candyland Hellfire Peninsula of Burning Crusade on was a mistake.

If anyone's ever played on the opening day of a super popular private classic server, like say, Nostalrius, then it's easy for them to recall people waiting in huge lines for quest items or quest mobs in noob zones...

Oh wait. This is RETAIL CLASSIC where it's happening on every server.

Hard pass for the first 3 weeks, if not longer. Eff that.

Kronos 3 had a decent system of quickening respawn times based on # of players present or in zone. Seems would have been a good idea to look at in lieu of sharding or whatever

504 in queue on Bigglesworth after 2.5 hours. I logged in a minute after launch to an 8500 queue on a Medium server.

I reckon those in queue have to wait until folks level into the next layer.

Swish2
08-27-2019, 07:43 AM
What's funny is what will potentially happen - they'll have nobody want to join the "dead" new servers and everyone will still want to queue for Herod etc to play with their pals :/

it's very popular. the WoW gaming community has given Blizzard a massive "fuck you dad", netting them tens of millions of dollars.

My friends swapped to Bigglesworth last minute and I was able to get right in at launch since I was waiting on character select. However, some of my friends who couldn't get on until 2-3 hours later, were sitting in 25k queues with estimated wait times of over 1,000 minutes. Though if they just waited in queue, it would've been a lot sooner than 16 hours.

I think they're currently at 29 total servers after adding a few more. We'll see what the final tally is.

Got into Herod this morning after being number 28712 in queue last night with a wait time of 24 minutes, lol that quickly changed to 544 minutes
