Not on p99 but on March 16, 1999, launch day, Fennin Ro server.

I log into Everquest for the very first time after watching the dazzling 3D opening cinematic. I have my cloth map on my lap and am ready to be immersed. I make a Dwarf warrior and click enter world. The very first other player I ever see in EQ was a fellow Dwarf warrior named "Dildobaggins".

Why didn't he make a halfling? I still wonder about that to this very day.

On the Rathe in 1999 my buddy rolled a halfling rogue and got Supu from the name generator. So of course at 20 he was Supu Dupafly. The gms took his last name away at least three times.

I can't answer why he didn't make a Halfling, but what you may not have realized is that that wasn't an original name. It's actually taken from Bored of the Rings (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bored_of_the_Rings).

There was a halfling druid on Rallos Zek named Savor Daflavor which was a neat name. I don't know why I liked it so much.

On Project 1999, I just love that guy Hoben when porting renamed hammer hill to Hoben Hill ;D

the hell is with these halflings and being endearing to me.


On P99 I saw an enchanter named Pythos which I thought was really cool for the snake themed class.


There's simple names that I think sound badass even if they aren't references. Denoc, and Danth, for example. Sound like names of badasses.

Cecily is a cool simple name too.

There is an erudite..I cannot remember his first name..but his surname..has been Dicksword for years on project 1999. He rarely logs on anymore. (Probably due to being 60 and not wanting to lose his surname.)
I have seen the Dicksword pop up over the years in the last decade on this server.

I remember seeing a monk (I think?) namee Cannabis, which is specifically used by Rogean in the guidebook as a name not to use. Maybe it was misspelled Cannibis? I don't recall, but either way how can you beat using a name Rogean specifically told you not to us? Even if 95% of the names break the naming policy, using one you've been specifically told not to is something else.

I mean.. you know.. until you're caught. Then you can beat it pretty easily because their name is now Flugknowzs.

If a GM/Guide has to change your name due to a violation of the naming policy, when they are ready to type in the new name, they should just mash their hand all over the keyboard, hit enter, and that's your new name. No re-dos.
