Has anyone successfully played this on a netbook? I had one laying around for a year and decided to try and play at work. Everything is sooo slow and choppy. Anything I can do to work on this? I have an Asus EEpc intel atom windows 7.
It's possible. I "play" on my ASUS Eee PC from work on occasion, but def wouldn't recommend raiding.

Asus Eee netbook with two gigs of ram.

Spring for that second gig!
Disable everything including antivirus. Disable dynamic lighting kick down the clip plane to about half and you are good to go for lag free play!

I played one weekend a little on my father's netbook. It was pretty terrible but it worked. I managed to solo some seafuries just fine (although a little choppily), and I really didn't notice a serious problem until I tried to raid and was in the presence of 20 or so people. I figure it was just the geometry of that many player models as opposed to the world geometry which is extremely primitive.

There are basically 2 kinds of netbooks. Ones with Intel integrated video, and ones with nvidia ION video.
With nvidia ION you can run EQ no problem, it is about 10 times faster than intel video.. unfortunately most netbooks out there have intel integrated video.

I play very often on pretty much the exact same netbook as the OP. It runs fine, but I crash randomly to the desktop from time to time. But I think that has more to deal with windows 7 than the actual netbook.
I have actually raided on it with great success. You just have to turn all particles off and basically everything else off. Then run the netbook on "high performance." On "power saver" it will lag no matter what. If you're used to having spell effects, it will take some time to get used to having them off, but that was the most helpful thing that I did.

My gf plays on her netbook and it works fine, although she's forced to play in windowed mode (probably because of the awkward resolution).

My client detected the screen size and let me choose it to use right out of the box. I have since dumped the W7-lite for W7pro still runs great.

I play on a Asus Eee PC 1001P with 2GB of RAM. I recommend turning the sky off. There is a huge FPS improvement by doing so.

^this
I run "simple sky"
As for raiding I mostly solo.
I run EQ on my main machine at home mostly but use the netbook when I bring my son to his mother for visitation. It gives me something to do rather than having to have conversation with her LOL
