Straferunning (diagonal holding the right mouse button) can help you outrun almost anything if fleeing to the zone line.

/corpse ignores z-axis and pulls corpse up thru floors (rip all my forever lost corpses in the depths of blackburrow summer 1999)

You can use a banker even if he/she is KoS (you can bank even when they're beating up on you)

That you can consent your offline main/alt and do your own corpse recovery

The Cleric is NOT a melee DPS character.

A halfling that casts an illusion spell, then clicks off the illusion, becomes the size of a gnome for purposes of being able to see through walls.

For casters (and to some extent everyone) gear is mostly unimportant when leveling up: even if you have 200 more or less mana (or your tank has 100 more or less AC, or whatever) your group will still level about as fast as the next group. Skill will make a much bigger difference, so focus on playing better/smarter and don't worry about the twinks around you.

It's skill, not a Fungi tunic that is regens those HPs.

The whole point was to be brief, and you of all people should know I struggle with brevity ;)
Therefore when I wrote "mostly" I left out qualifications like "(with exceptions like the Fungi Tunic)" and left them implied instead.
But heck, even Fungi Tunics really don't make that much difference in group XP gain over time, especially the higher level you get.

Level a Bard to 5 and park him in the EC tunnel - Using the bank is not really a thing on P99, if you don't have access to your money in the EC tunnel you are going to have a bad time.

...and transfer stuff?
No thanks.
I don't have friends.

Would you really tell yourself this 20 years ago?
personally. I don't know. There have been some pretty good answers but I already figured those out quite early on like /corpse and strafing so I don't think it would be a good investment of my "tip". I would probably supply a list of important things that get removed/altered.

You can bank-around-the wall without aggro by using the F9 camera settings. The easiest for me is North Freeport.
Also Guard Ledshin in West FP roams by the gate and can see invis.

I just want to point out that many of the suggestions mentioned are covered on this wiki page: http://wiki.project1999.com/Advanced_Techniques_Guide (and I actually added the bit about /corpse ignoring the z-axis to it from this thread).
Perhaps I should revise my one suggestion to just be "go read that page" :)
Also, as always, I should emphasize that it's a wiki, so if I got anything wrong (eg. I'm pretty sure you don't need to be indifferent to bankers to use them, so the "sneak banking" section could use a bit of revision) feel free to just click edit at the top and fix it, because it's a wiki!

No, because my server used North Freeport like civilized people, and the evils just had to faction up or go hide out behind the Jade. A bank was always nearby and there wasn't 500K plat on every other mule anyway.

I always wanted to play on a server that used NF.
I like NF.
It's a cozy zone.

If you invested $10,000 in Litecoin in early 2017 and sold them 10 months later, you'd be a multimillionaire.
I know that because I say it angrily to myself every night.

Angle your view upward then zooming out to 3rd person locks in the upward angle for maintaining levitate for a long run (dreadlands, etc).

I'll say it because nobody is yet, but I'll tell myself that this game is gonna be super great and fun and all but is also gonna suck up a whole 10% of your whole life no kidding, probably more. You have only one life to live, you might wanna reconsider this and never ever touch this game with a 10 ft pole like the plague.
On a different note, probably the combat bind wound trick, would have made my life as a warrior easier hehe.

If you don't want to run back to the bank, buy gemstones (or gem jewelry). The resale on most gems (besides a few like Lambent Stones) are 85-90%. Stackable ones like emeralds, peridots, and Elf Leaf make for lightweight wallets. You can even sell them right back to the same vendor to convert lesser currency to plat...or save them for rez/port donations.

I really enjoyed the game back then; I was happy with how I played, and I don't think much advice I could give myself on tricks or content would really improve that enjoyment.
What I do think would help, is advice on server to play; Tallon Zek was okay for a bit of a laugh, but for your main characters a PVE server is a lot better.
Either that, or just guidance on how to use /who all effectively and using that to send tells direct to other players to talk directly.

I played a druid before rolling a rogue. I never took the time to learn about or appreciate how effective they are as a charm-pet class. I probably never once charmed anything.

Same, I had no idea they could charm. I just remembered everyone single kiting mobs.

As a cleric, knowing I could use /RT to target the person who just sent me a tell and /TT to send a tell to my target would have been huge. I did at least know about /tar player name, but those other two were new to me with P99.
Pro tip (this is best for 60 druids), when getting a rez and you are in zone at your corpse already, /corpse before rez to have your corpse directly below you. When rez box is available, begin casting POTG (or any other single buff for non-60 druids or any other class/lvl) and accept rez midcast. Potg will land immediately after getting rez, vastly reducing time it takes to med back to full.

You don't even have to be in zone for this to work. I always SOW myself when getting rezzed to an interior zone
wow this i will have to try, so the cast doesnt finish but it still applies on zoning?

I would tell myself not to roll a cleric as my first character, make a druid or necro instead.
I would tell myself to farm manastones.
