RIP ToV on Red99

It has been clear for some time that the current situation in Temple of Veeshan has not been optimal. Numerous guilds are flocking to this zone upon repops, causing mayhem with so many players grouped together. To make matters worse, pulling mechanics have been mastered to the point where raid mobs are able to be isolated from any and all trash and brought all the way to the zone in. It is the staff's opinion that these encountes were never designed or intended to be trivialized in such a way. While the act of splitting does take some careful coordination between a team of pullers, this is just one small part of the raid and leaves everyone else from having to do any work or experience the rest of the zone.

Thus, it is our intention to return the difficulty and spirit of the zone for ALL raid players and to force raids to crawl to their targets. To that end, we are implementing a number of changes, some of them we will specify here, others we will leave to be discovered.

The following Raid Mobs are now Permarooted (Note that this list DOES NOT match up with what was permarooted on Live during Luclin; That is intentional): Dozekar the Cursed, Lendiniara the Keeper, Gozzrem, Telkorenar, Eashen of the Sky, Aaryonar, Lord Vyemm, Lord Koi`Doken (Fight in the water you filthy animals), Lady Mirenilla, Lord Kreizenn, Dagarn the Destroyer, Lord Freshlak, Lady Nevederia, Vulak`Aerr.
Due to these changes, Vulak`Aerr will still spawn as normal but will NOT be attackable or aggroable until all the NToV dragons he formerly called for help from are dead.
We have also made changes to trash mobs and their chasing behavior, as well as further bonding the dragons and their guards together (Awww ). There are one or two other changes to increase the difficulty of the zone and encounters as well.

All current raid rules will remain in effect in ToV. This means that your raid force must not have a presence in that raid mob's wing when it spawns. If you are in a wing clearing to one mob and another spawns, you may still kill the original target mob but then your entire raid force must vacate the wing before re-clearing to the new raid mob. Yes, that means chose your raid mobs carefully if there are other mobs in window.

As usual, we encourage guilds to work together on raid target selections. Leapfrogging, while technically not against the rules, is still an asshole move.

We look forward to seeing the raid guilds tackle the new challenges and will make further adjustments as necessary.

I don't fundamentally understand the enjoyment or what it is that drives a person to continue to play stagnant content that will literally never be updated [beyond minimal patches for what's left for pre-luclin] for years on end. In other games like WoW when the raid tier is beaten and on farm status the guild typically takes a break until the next tier; they don't raid it for 4 years. Checking the forums I get; it's no worse than those of us who enjoy watching some reality TV on E! for a quick laugh, but for those sitting in ToV for hours on end I legit don't get it. Someone help explain.

I nearly blew my brains out after raiding ToV in two seperate stints totallying about 6 months (Approximately 3 months each). Anyone who still raids ToV in a non-competitive fashion similair to blue 100% has mental problems, let alone entering their 3rd-4th year straight of doing it.

There is 0 need to raid on red, there is 0 competition, anyone that is interested in raiding is in the only guild that raids, anyone can join Apex, it's not about denying pixels to a certain group of players to feel some relevance.

It's purely 100% a compulsive addiction.

On the other hand, outside of perhaps a psychological disorder book, and P99 [particularly R99], I don't know anyone who watches the same hours long movie multiple times a week every week for years, or who replays Super Mario World from start to finish 3x a week every week for 6+ years, goes on the same amusement park ride every single week multiple times, etc.

Wasn't really meant as an attack on people who do enjoy doing it, but I question whether people really actually enjoy it or of this is just there sense of purpose and/or community; with the game being something that enables the former.

I get your point, but, eq is pixels, stamps are a reality, and tangible.

most of us played for nostalgic reasons; and pixel lust for pixels we never attained on live (most of us), then when we got them we moved on.

it's akin to licking an ice block, you lick it till you down to the paddle, then you stop and throw it away.

some of these suckers are chewing the paddle to try extract out any residue, and for that they kindof put themselves out there

Admittedly it isn't a good comparison. It is however a great response someone gave me in a similar discussion when I asked a similar question. The point being that people enjoy things differently and doing so doesn't make them psychotic.

That doesn't mean I think all of your points are incorrect. I agree with the spirit of most of it. Just think that is misses the mark by suggesting that everyone beyond a certain point is psychotic for still playing a game (book, movie, whatever).

I legit Play super mario world and legend of zelda oot every single year. The only thing that stops me from logging into red is the population. I could sit and play the same content years on end because i enjoyed it. I do not enjoy lack of population. Population = motivation to log in and pvp.
