Iksar vs Ogre

Hello all,

I have been doing some research, I definitely want to make a new character and I think a warrior could be fun. I'm not into the end game raiding scene, but while leveling up I feel there is a severe lack of tanks, so I'd like to help alleviate that. I just can't decide between an Iksar and an Ogre. Those who play warriors (or just whoever has knowledge about them) which race would you choose, and why?

Ogres have the best starting stats but.. Youre ugly, fat, eat a lot, and that "cant be stun/bashed from the front thing is overrated.

Not overrated. It's nice not being perma-stunned on raid mobs. Also, AC worthless on this server. Armor graphics phoned in by SoE though.

Iksar I don't think have better swimming, they just start at higher skill level.
Ogres have racial slam ability, which is a pretty big deal up until get stun on your kicks, and even then your bash/slam will still cap higher than kick, so you should keep using it. You also don't mention that iksar have the worst faction of any race. Iksar is also a bit harder to equip since they can't use a lot of the plate items in the game. Velious stuff helps but you'll probably have to pay a premium for it. There is also a 5% higher experience penalty for iksar.

I'd probably take an ogre if you aren't going to be able to super twink out your character and also plan to mostly stick to grouping. Since you aren't going to be raiding, it's really not going to make a ton of difference at the end of the day so don't lose too much sleep over what you pick. If you do change your mind about riading, that stun immunity becomes a lot more valuable, though.

Ogres are also huge, and there are some places where they can't fight because they are so large. There's not always a shammy around for shrink, though you can get ant potions.

Just something to consider.

Iksar warrior melee animations look terrible. The ac bonus and regen are cool but I’d never make an iksar warrior for that reason alone.

Played an ogre warrior to about level 30, deleted it and made a iksar which is now level 50. I absolutely could not stand the size of an ogre. I could not see stuff in front of my character when I play 3rd person and got very annoyed trying to fit in door ways and halls of smaller dungeons and buildings. Ikky not being able to use plate takes away a lot of option for gear and their armor graphics are pretty boring. Both make pretty good warrior options.

They can wear most Velious plate, and all the really good Velious plate.

as far as ogre
frontal stun immunity is alot more useful then you give credit for
ugly = true
fat = true
eat alot = a pain in early levels. once you can afford good home cooked meals, it's less of an issue. you inhale tons of food for the stat buff in raid anyway

as far as iksar
regen is VERY nice at low lvls. but later game it's meh
ac bonus = ac soft capped anyway. may give you 100th of a percent difference in damage? alittle useful early game but armor limitation can be annoying
swimming is a matter of practice. the skill cap is the same for both races

as far as OP, just go with which ever brand of ugly you prefer :D you can always roll an inky if you want to look pretty :D race doesn't matter much in later games.
