hey guys.
i'm using ubuntu and p99 runs fine and everything. the one snag would be the server select screen. it takes me, regularly, 8-10 minutes of repeated login attempts to have the servers show up.
now, i am a linux n00b. what info would you all need from me to be able to help with this problem?
thanks

I had this same issue, you can resolve it by running Zaelas eqemu-login-helper (https://github.com/Zaela/eqemu-login-helper/)
Here is a gist (https://gist.github.com/mgeitz/aa295061c51b26d53dd818d0ebb3e37a) of how I'm running it

thanks! now, like i said I am a n00b with linux.
my eqhost is directed to 5998.
do i just d/l the helper files, then copy them into my EQ folder. then, what, run the eq helper prior to firing up my eqclient?

You can start it from your home/you/.bash_profile file. For instance I use the (similar) p99 login middlemand program, which I start with this line in my .bash_profile:
/home/me/bin/p99-login-middlemand
