New to Red

Hello Red Community!

Last Sunday's Blue login server crash was perhaps the best thing that has happened to me in EQ in quite some time. While waiting for the server to come back up, I decided to make a Red character, along with 250 other players from Blue. At the time, I didn't think that I would actually be interested in really playing on Red, until I noticed that a lot of Red players were going around and helping all the Blue Refugees and informing us of what the server is really like.

It was because of this positive experience that I started telling many of my friends on Blue about Red, and I was able to to convince two of them to roll characters on Monday. After getting to level 8 and heading to Crushbone, an Apex Druid came in and decided to PL our group to level 15! By the time we logged off, all three of us have decided that we'd like to focus our EQ time on Red.

I really can't believe how generous and welcoming the Red players have been to us. When buying my 14 spells in Felwithe last night a Sanctuary Cleric dropped by, gave me a Wraith Bone Hammer, Walrusbone Shield, and Zaharn's Coronet as well as 100pp for spell money (which I really needed)! We were able to get to level 19 lin Unrest with some pretty cool people from Sanctuary, and a higher level Sanctuary druid even hooked me up with some bronze armor.

I keep telling my other Blue friends about our experiences here, and I think I have convinced some of my them to give it a try this weekend. Red has been a breath of fresh air and I want to thank everyone for making it so great for us so far.

I was planning just to make a level 1 character and start with them, and once they catch up switch back to my cleric as my main. We're trying to figure out what races/classes we should all play. We were thinking of either all making iksars so we start in the same place, or possibly making races that all start on Faydwer to open up the possibility of even more classes. One of my friends is set on necro as a class, and since iksars make the best necros we may all just make iksars.

I'll definitely get in touch with you when we figure out a day/time to play.

I was able to get 6 more people from blue to start playing today. Andain came by, gave us all 4/45 rings, and buffed the crap out of us; thanks Andain! We were able to get up to 15/16 before we called it quits today. The 6 guys who started this morning were all pleasantly surprised by the people on this server; I think they're here to stay. We are planning to group up at least one morning every weekend.

Level 12 after this weekend!! Red has been a blast! And i've seen the pop this weekend anywhere from 70-100 at all times! Didn't log into blue once.. I'm feeling the shift in the force! Thanks red, everybody has been great that i've run into!

It's just nice to be on a server where complete strangers are so willing to go out of their way to help you. I've never gotten this level of help on Blue, even when I have asked my own guild.

Yeah man. I haven't run into one single toxic person yet!! I've met only great people so far.. From somebody who only knows blue.. I suggest you all give red a shot, especially the casual folks! I only have an hour or 2 of playtime per day, and only a few days a week.. But that bonus exp makes it feel worthwhile.. And all the different rules on red breathes fresh life into the playing experience..

With only 100 ppl logged in at prime times ur aktchual only chances of getting griefing on any given night is like ackchyually only 1 in 1000 or something. So if you're willing to sit around on your bumb playing EQ for 1000 days, u will probably get trained or exp deathed or raid wiped by a throw away account 1 of those days.

Ppl quit red because of EQ and having to work a bit harder to play with others and develop trust. Not because server is toxic.

More ppl get lvl 60 on blue just for logging in, so that's where ppl can be congregate if they don't mind bad players and annoying people.

The biggest learning curve though? Not using /ooc for in zone chat.. Haha i found myself talking to the whole server when i meant to talk to the zone numerous times...

I would venture an educated guess that the vast majority of people quit red because of the low pop. Most people don't like to play MMO's that feel like a ghost town; and even for those who stick it out to 60 and join the top guild, many get burnt out quickly after experiencing a few NToV runs. Only a very few amount of people stick it out at that point to do the DKP grind to increase their HP by 100 every 3-4 weeks on trivial encounters.

Was why I quit. Only low lvl pvp in guk once a month and basically hang around waiting for sanctuary to plvl an alt otherwise. But ya. Your pretty much more right.
