I have the exakt same problem,
Can log in to red, but not blue.
Get to server select (if not using Quick connect)
Then blue send me back to log in screen. And red lets me play.
Tried different installs same problem.
With old p99 patch same on blue, red tells me to patch.

Now my regular connection nor any of my VPN connections are working. I'm seeing the population of the server steadily drop, so it doesn't look isolated.

Coming back after a long absence, good to see that it was a known issue with the game and not my account. Just patched to 45 so the error about spell files is definitely not correct. i have this same issue. so i've found that in the log files dbg has a file and it happens to be the exact time of the error, i deleted it and could log in and play as normal. now im having the same issue after it being resolved for days. i found the dgb file in logs again... so delete it and try to log in. bam error cant log in. so i check logs and sure enough dgb there again.. after deleting 4 times i was able to log in and play normally... weird right?

There likely isn't a secret and whatever server they use for logins is choking to death. Every time it comes back up ( assuming they're on some sort of monitoring/restart script ) a couple hundred people all hit it at once and a few get good responses and the rest bring the server back down.

Just a guess though. No idea how their architecture is setup.

This issue is related to the blue server only it seems. I got into the red server on the first try. Created a druid there but Im not very motivated to play there. My cleric is 3 blue away from dinging 58 and I could easily get there today if I could only log in.

There are only 500 people logged on atm according to the server select screen. There should be triple that this time on a Sunday. I had this issue at 1 am but after 7 or 8 attempts I finally got to the character select screen. Not the case now though. I have tried at least 100 times to no avail.

I can get to the red server though. But playing lvl 1 on PVP is not my idea of fun.

I logged into the red servers, exited then logged into the blue server and it worked. Does this work for anyone else?

1-21-19 Had problems with Error 1017 all weekend but it seems to be back to the same problem this morning. I can log into red, but not blue =( Anyone else having this problem again?

They're shutting down the server. They have the 10 min countdown going in game telling people to log out.
