I'd like to outfit my ranger a bit. I have the sc handwraps and the beginner tattered armor.
Whacha recommend for having just over 4000 P?

Agree with woodsman staff best long term choice. A suit of banded from the change will be ample protection for the mean time.

Add velium Fire wedding rings as you save money, then Orc fang earrings. That's about 1k.

A set of rygor armour looks nice for another 1k.


If you don't want to spend all your money on the weapons (honestly a good weapon, haste and sufficient AC is probably the best route) then get a silver swiftwind and use the plat to buy something like the above.

Personally I just wore trash looted armour, then quested ivy etched with help, then looted crystal chitin grouping in velks, then quested sky shrine I got from guild activities. I only spent money on haste and weapons.

I wouldn't dump money into thurg.

I don't know about that woodsman staff, it's only good for 30 - 50 really, before and after it's pretty meh.

I think what you need the most is crystal chitin hand wrap, some cheap weapons (I would go for 2x jade mace or lamentation), then you can use the rest of the money for some rygor/fire wedding ring/orc fang earring etc.

He can likely get a silver swiftblade to tide him over until the woodsman staff becomes better

"only" 30-50 lol. That's like the biggest chunk of your xping career. Post 50 you'll be into raid stuff, farming items, etc. outside of just XP. If you dont have epics yet, woodsmans staff will still carry you into 50's.

If you're really adverse to the staff, jade mace MH / crystalline short sword offhand is great. CSS is still like one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest 0.5 ratio weapons in game.

Jade mace / CSS is like 1200p. Toss in SCHW for like 2200-2400 total. Add in a set of banded and hp/ac rings + bow and arrows and youll be fine.

Sword of skyfire is dirt cheap and good till it procs at 45. Can get a lammy or green Jade broadsword is also cheap. Buy rygorr as stated above, hp jewelery. Can just do the hero bracer quest yourself later. Dwarven work boots you can farm yourself. Thick banded belt, hammerhead helmet. Raincaller if you can get it cheap enough.

If you are dead-set on duel wielding grab a Silken Whip for the offhand. It's a .5 ratio and like 100p.
