I did not post this into General because its not important for all and its more of advice needed. I plan to make a rogue but i remember the old time, and it was pretty hard to solo my rogue, most blue ones killed me.
I like playing in groups but most of the time i play in times where the us-community is in bed or working.

Actually i make some money by selling orc belts in greater faydark and have around 1100 pp, which means i can affort a cost for each item around 100 pp - 200 pp(i can always try get more belts), so if you suggest items for me(for which i thank you) please keep my not-that-big-purse in mind:)

My idea is to make a row for all 24 equipment slots and keep it listed here, to have a better overview about the actual view.

What i already have(if you know something priceworthy better, please suggest):

Head: Executioners Hood (AC 5, Dex 9, Str 4)
Face: Banded mail
Neck: Banded mail
Shoulders: Banded mail
Chest: Banded mail
Back: Banded mail
Arms: Banded mail

Get 2x hp/ac rings (maybe 400-500 for platinums)

Get some sort of poker, crystalline spider fangs are decent and are 25p to free.
If you want a higher dmg poker (13 dmg for dem BS), frozen shards are nice but like 600-800p. Crystalline spear still decent, and like only 200-400p.

Spend rest on banded pieces. Grab an SCHW when you can. Stick a crystalline short sword into offhand. Enjoy

Trakasaur's Tooth 10/20 for 500 plat is good value

Many hints here but i still have some questions to them:

Crystalline Spear(PRIMARY Skill: Piercing Atk Delay: 30, DMG: 13 )
Frozen Shards(PRIMARY SECONDARY Skill: Piercing Atk Delay: 26, DMG: 13 )
crystalline spider fangs(RANGE PRIMARY SECONDARY Skill: Piercing Atk Delay: 22, DMG: 10, STR: +3)
Trakasaur's Tooth(Slot: PRIMARY, Skill: Piercing Atk Delay: 20, DMG: 10 )

Very intersting weaps, guess frozen shards would be the best of them ? Would love to use 2 but they are Lore items..

So update:

Head: Executioners Hood (AC 5, Dex 9, Str 4)

But what is a SCHW ?

And isnt there more armor with DEX and STR on it ?
And jewelry tips would be cool too

weapon + haste item are most important for a rogue. Then go for str and hp items. You will usually be grouping as a rogue and not tanking so should just focus on maxing your dmg output

Concentrate on getting your STR towards 190ish unbuffed by whatever means necessary (str = atk = dps), group buffs should then get you to the 255 cap.

"Armor" is less important, you're not meant to be taking damage so don't invest too heavily early on in it.

Haste item is definitely worthwhile, Silver Chitin Handwraps (SCHW) or a Flowing Black Silk Sash (FBSS) is definitely good to have... but you can only have one working worn haste item.

Remember you'll be raiding later so nothing armor like is forever, don't slow your leveling to acquire plat for better interim armor etc :p

Well i more play casual and i'm not that much into group play, which has to do with my online-times mostly, so i should target a rogue able to solo too.
Nothing would suck much more then sitting around, not able to solo and not finding a group because its 6 am US-time.

The SCHW is a great item, will add it. Thing is i have that much time, i'm not in a hurry to make 1000 more plat in some weeks.

About max strength: so i should put everything in STR when i create the char ?
I thought DEX would be important for a rogue also(to-hit and avoid)

If what is holding you back from playing with people being your timezone...why not play with people from the similiar timezone? Alot of good euros out there

Dex does not really improve your chance to hit, it improves your chance to level up weapon skills (which is what really improves your chance to hit). Dexterity also improves your weapons chance to cast their spells.

Rogue might the most group dependent class in the game. Technically it's doable and a "front stab" (backstab from the front) is something that exists but your quality of life goes up immensely if you get a fungi tunic (40k plat or somewhere around that area). Soloing will get harder and harder as you level a rogue.

If you're really not into grouping I'd honestly recommend another class...certainly a necro or druid would be better for your play style.

6am EST is probably the deadest hour on the server, as has been mentioned make some pals with Euro/Asian players... that's 12pm in central Europe and 8-9pm or so in parts of east Asia/Australia.

This is a great item you may want to add to your Rogue ... it procs at lvl 10 (STR buff) , decent dmg as well.. Or you could go with a Smoldering brand.

Both affordable an frequently for sale at EC tunnel.

Well i know i have 2 problems with me: being playing solo most of the time(timezone) and playing the rogue, but on my side is, that i'm not in a hurry and i really want to play it, not another char, for now. And i have hope that i get in a group sometimes, with some luck nevertheless.

The Fungus Covered Scale Tunic looks interesting but it has -10 Dex and -10 Agi, which is hard to take for the effect of snaring enemies for 10%, or have i overseen something ?

Especially hints on jewelry and charm slot would be important now, same as armor hints. I remember i saw a armor set, it was black and like made especially for rogues, but not sure about the name.

You can ignore the dex and agi negatives on fungi. The 15 hp regen makes up for it. (Dex and AGI have minimal effect on anything you do anyways).

The black set was probably ravenscale.

Orc fang earrings are great.

Id still suggest hp / ac rings as they're just too good, and as a rogue you will want a little buffer room even if your focus isnt tanking.

The Fungus Covered Scale Tunic (http://wiki.project1999.com/Fungus_Covered_Scale_Tunic) increases your health regeneration by 15 points per tick, the snare effect doesn't apply on the tunic. 15 HP/tick is an insane amount of regeneration considering every character has either 1 or 2 HP/tick while standing up until level 50. With a fungi tunic you have pretty much 0 downtime between like 1 and 35, but you would have to farm quite a bit to get enough cash for a fungi on an untwinked rogue.

Platinum Fire Wedding Rings (http://wiki.project1999.com/Platinum_Fire_Wedding_Ring) or Velium Fire Wedding Rings (http://wiki.project1999.com/Velium_Fire_Wedding_Ring) are a great for pretty much anyone, especcially at low level. Golden Amber Earrings (http://wiki.project1999.com/Golden_Amber_Earring) are a good cheap +STR item, Orc Fang Earrings (http://wiki.project1999.com/Orc_Fang_Earring) are better if you have more money to spend. Charms do not exist on this server.

As several people have said, Rogues are perhaps the worst soloing class at every stage of the game, but they really shine in group situations. I think you would enjoy playing a Monk more if you want to solo as an untwinked melee.

Many good infos and hints again, i would love to get the Fungus Covered Scale Tunic, but 40k pp by selling orc belts and morning dew would take years, guess i have to look for that item later;)
Rings and Earrings are awesome, added them.

About the Ravenscale armor, looked it up in the wiki and its not very expensive, could afford it..has more AC and even stats, compared to banded mail. I add it also.

Still happy about suggestions, eventually a good bow for pulling would be helpful ?

Head: Ravenscale Coif (AC: 12, CHA: +2 WIS: +2 INT: +5, SV MAGIC: +5)

Neck: Ravenscale Neckguard (AC: 8, DEX: +5, SV DISEASE: +10)

Chest: Ravenscale Chestquard (AC: 19, STR: +5 HP: +15, SV DISEASE: +5 SV POISON: +5)
Back: Ravenscale Cloak (AC: 12, AGI: +5, SV COLD: +5)
Arms: Ravenscale Armguards (AC: 10, DEX: +5, SV FIRE: +5)
Hands: Silver Chitin Handwraps (AC: 5, SV FIRE: +3 SV DISEASE: +3 SV COLD: +3 SV MAGIC: +3 SV POISON: +3, Haste: +22% )
Waist: Ravenscale Belt (AC: 9, STA: +5 HP: +25)

Fill your weapon slots and haste. The rest of your slots wont matter at all until higher level (esp rogue in a group)

Dont spend alot of your plat on ravenscale armor(mask is nice for see invis) etc, just get a good piercer, I suggest lowest delay as possible esp since u gonna try to solo. Frozen shard is kinda meh... get hp rings of course, velium style is alot more expensive for just 10 more hp. orc fangs are ok for earrings - hand wraps haste are cheapest haste to hold on to untill epic. There is no charm slot. Get a bone fork from guk in range and put throwing daggers in range or get a bow like runed oak if u wanna - rogue lvls up with just a piercer in a group. Sneak hide if wiping and get out alive.

How many points should i put in STR when creating the human rogue( 75 STR and STA as starting attributes) ?

I know, STR is most important for a rogue as damage dealer; when often soloing, STA could be important also.

wiki says:

"25 STA / 5 STR - The typical min/max build for end game raiding. This is a difficult early game build for low STR races. Recommended for Barbarians and Dwarves.
25 STR / 5 STA - This build emphasizes early game damage dealing at the expense of 80 max HP end game. Well suited for low STR races.
15 STR / 15 STA - A balanced build that suits any race. "

I think of putting all 30 points into str, when i have the upper mentioned equipment, i should be ok for soloing too, what you think ?

With the above gear, you can solo, but it will be like killing 1 blue mob and sit for several minutes to regen. Once you get to 40's, even blues will wreck you solo. The only thing that makes rogue soloing a passable way to consistently level is with a regen bp (fungi/iksar) or a clickie heal chest (velious quest chest, or trak bp from 45+).

I get that you want to solo, but rogue is literally the worst solo class in the game. If you attempt it, I'm sorry to say, you will be in for disappointment. If you look for groups, you can find them even during your play time. I know, because I play at the same time you do.

Ok, now you all told it to me often enough :) ..i will build it as a group-char then, group play in everquest is great anyway(when players are elder then 11).
Means i go full for STR at creation.

Muggens

Go full str or 50/50 its not that important
U can solo on a rogue but its slow. Better than nothing if u do not have time to group/afk grinding - pm for a good camp list
