My favorite day of the year is almost upon us!

I’m looking for some good deals on outdoor IP cameras for some smart home integration and maybe a new TV for the parlor.

Already picked up a Dyson V8 Absolute with 3 free extra tools for $303 shipped.

If you’re having a hard time deciding on impulse purchases, you can check out www.slickdeals.net front page!

What’s on your Black Friday wishlist?

you're such a turd sometimes dude *sighs* how about you loosen up and enjoy the one time a year when corporations whore themselves out to the consumer as an integral component of a perverse societal post-modern regression from a long standing seasonal tradition of giving thanks. here's to hoping the spirit of frugality bites you in the ass and you experience the joy of the $2 blueray.

u do know that the price structure is built around these twisted holidays?

ur paying a tax to The Corporation by buying outside the holiday, and all you do is flatten out the curves a little and help with cash flow during the summer.

it's a pretty doofy protest

if u don't like The Corporation and its culture maybe move somewhere where the avg IQ prevents highly organized and stratified social structure from tyaking root.

Im with u 100% again that's brilliant.

Honestly, my individuality isn't even relevant. I just don't really consume much. About 800 calories a day was it? I barely used any water today and I've used the same razor for a month.

I would have to earn fun points in order to consume more calories and have the energy to do stuff.

this is exactly right and tbh, i get excited about seasonal sales (good ones around labor/Memorial Day too) because I am simply too darn tight to buy anything at less than 70% discount ^^;

So I choose to take one day off of shopping and avoid insane crowds, while I appreciate the things I already have and recognize how much consumerism drives me to buy things I don't need ... and therefore I should "move somewhere else" and I'm "a turd".

Yeah, buying stuff we don't need isn't as good for the eco(nomic)system as saving and building or creating our own gardens or hoarding water from up stream.

But I don't agree that humans are completely powerless in the face of "isms" like consumerism. Taking a day (and in particular THE day for shopping) off, to challenge that consumerism is a very effective way to re-center yourself against it.

no, its mostly just pent up angst from consumer abstinence throughout the year. can't tell you how worth it it really is though when you blow every last drop of your responsibly apportioned disposable income at 3+x the purchasing power in a single glut. lot more satisfying than paying to change the corporate chamber lot throughout the year with nothing more than a wink and contemptuous smile.

I don't blame you, but if you've any love of truth you'll stick it out or find ways to at least hang at the edge. maybe that is really the ideal place. the left is increasingly seeking refuge in the garden and i honestly don't believe life outside is tenable as a path to peace for most irrespective of political leanings.

Thanks? But while that's easy to say, we humans never appreciate anything every day, or at least not without significant effort. We need events to remind us to stop and smell the roses.

Also, what's this garden everyone's talking about? At first I thought y'all were talking about Eden, but then I got lost.

you're welcome ^^ and yeah, it's very easy to take good fortune for granted and change isn't easy, but that doesn't mean thankfulness isn't worth striving for.

as for the garden, i think mae was just referring it to earth, but i associated it with eden from genesis and i generally regard it as an allegory for delusion and the hardship of reality. truth is abundant outside, but happiness is elusive.

Ahhh, gotcha. "The garden" as a symbol of innocence and/or ignorant happiness is a common literary trope also.

And come to think of it, "Over the Garden Wall" (great cartoon with Elijah Wood that someone on this board recommended) gains an extra level of depth when you think of it that way ...

One could relate the garden to transactional happiness or the marketplace of our desire.

Outside is our imagination and virtualization of what isn't real or maybe achievable on the present earth through lifes temporal and impermanent processes.

That's my take on it, not to compete with your more literal notion.

It's the knowledge ive gained that has driven me more from lifes simple pleasures and naturalistic flow at the hands of the master.

And God is still literally in control.

America
11-21-2018, 03:11 PM
everything is transactional, for instance i nut harder when spoiled financially. cant help it the transactions give me pleasure. bring on the consumerism pure enough and eventually hunky sales associates will full nelson me consensually in the checkout line and tell me what a good girl i am for purchasing. that's a future i am willing to see through.

That thing came with a fucking wifi card straight from Satan's workshop. BSoD for months until I unplugged the card inside. Would constantly drop connection and pick it back up again under a different name. Then it'd crash the computer. After that was disabled and I bumped it up to 8gb ram and a 120 SSD, it turned out to be a great computer. Until the trackpad got possessed and I had to disable that too. Until the internal power adapter casing slipped into the case and I had to use a screw driver to drag it back out every time I needed to plug in power cord. But it worked fine after that, until the battery died and it needed to be on wall power 100% and god help you if you kicked that shitty power cord. But I loved it after my friend helped me jam some plastic to keep the adapter from slipping. It was a real good computer until the W and R keys stopped working. So I bought a new keyboard for it np. Worked fine until I threw my phone at the screen. Got a new monitor the next day. 3 hours later, tea. So deep inside it.

I played the Star Spangled Banner on phone’s speakers as the line was being let in to Best Buy.

How many honored our nation's anthem?

I have never owned any other systems but REALLY wanna play Red Dead Redemption.

Bought a Dyson V8 Absolute - they price matched a deal with Bed, Bath and Beyond with an additional 20% of their already discounted Black Friday price. Think it came to like $330 after tax + expedited shipping.

Just got home from vacation to find they they sent me two... Must have missed the fine print that said Buy One-Get One.

Pretty disappointed with Black Friday sales so far... Then again, I don't actually go to stores on Black Friday - E-Comm all the way.

Total Consumption Rating - Moderately Low

Purchases:

GE Outdoor Z-Wave Smart Switch
Dyson V8 Absolute
Adidas NMD (Bright Orange)
Samsung Smartthings Hub
Samsung Temperature Detector
Lasko Space Heater
Samsung Smart Indoor Outlet
Philips Hue Light Strips x2
Gigabit 8-port Desktop Switch

Still need

Good outdoor wired IP cameras...
55" OLED for parlor

The Samsung savings were all bundled together as part of a package, so hard to estimate the individual savings there. Think I ended up paying about $80 for everything, when it would have totaled around $200 if I bought everything separately.

Spider-man is the better game. RDR2 is clunky, menu-obsessed mess. I uninstalled RDR2 and had more fun in the opening tutorial of Spider-man than I did in 10 hours of playing RDR2.

You got the better game. If you're dying to play the mess of RDR2, wait for the price drop.

I sure wish I did.

Games are 100% based on your opinion, and your opinion alone. Clearly plenty of people love RDR2. And Plenty of people love Spiderman as well!

Only 1500 people on this planet would suggest to you, that you play P99, (and a big chunk of those players would tell you to stay away from P99 for health reasons haha) yet here you are... So, that being said- Try'em both!? I personally prefer RDR2 but that's just me! I also still play Sea of Thieves from time to time :) Soooo i guess i'll just stop now cause im making a fool of myself haha...

Big Jeff, the voice of reason. I always found it funny how people forget to include "in my opinion" before they voice it.

Good brother. Just vacationing. Just got back from hiking in Yosemite. Had to work a few days, now I'm back on vacation for 2 weeks. Going on my yearly deer hunting trip. I fly our Friday. There's a gym close to where I'm staying so I'll be able to keep up my progress, and then take it to the next level when I get back.

Hope you're doing well.

Still gonna buy it. I loved GTA. Bought WWE 2k19 and also want to get Skyrim Elder Scrolls, which is the only game I've ever played on a console, not including my

unfortunetly RDR2 shares no similarities with any of the GTA games excpet for the bad stories that I normally excused because of open world freedom and fun gameplay.

They got rid of all the open world freedom and fun in rdr2

honestly its likable but you have to pretend that you love the game despite its flaws.

There are quite a few gamers that will do that so it might be the right fit for you if you're like any of those folks.

A game has to be fun for me to excuse its flaws. Its required.

Take EQ for example, flaws gallore. But I could grind XP for 20+ years and be fine with zero progress, because the game itself is "fun", pulling, backstabing, stunning, mezing, kiting, etc all that is FUN!

red deads gameplay is not "fun" its tedious, the art is fantastic, but so is the art in a museum.

I dont play "visit the museum" on my gaming consoles, so I wont play "walk around and look at good CG art" on it either.

I recommend Witcher 3 if you want the same, but better game. If you want to play cowboy game and have not played RDR1.. PLAY THAT instead. For sure.
