I'm attempting to start my adventures on P99. I am from Zek on the live servers and have been an avid pvper for the last 19 years. I am kinda hoping to carry over to P99 and enjoy the pvp and pve aspect of classic everquest without worrying about the release of an expac passed velious. I have downloaded everything I needed (to my knowledge) and deleted the 4-5 files it mentioned in the set up guide, as well as downloaded the custom p99 files. I was able to reach the log in screen previously but when I typed in my account details, it sat there "connecting" and wouldn't do anything differently. For hours. So I assumed since I'm not playing live anymore, let me just completely uninstall everything to do with everquest and try re downloading the titanium itself again. Now I have an error message when I attempt to open up the titanium launcher saying windows cannot find "eqgame"? Would love to get some assistance on this and hopefully you will see me on my necro soon enough!!:)

Did you install it in your Program Files folder? I know that causes people issues.

Try a reinstall/move to a new folder at the root of the drive, like...

C:\P99\(files)

No corpse runs! We all hate corpse runs but thats what made this game for me. That hardcoreness you could say. Anyways. Please heeeeelp!!!:)

just had the same issue after years away -- what fixed it for me was going into my eq directory and actually finding the "eqgame.exe" file which is separate from the "everquest.exe" file and creating a shortcut from that, putting in the patchme line like in the instructions, and then that ran. I couldn't get the .bat file mentioned in the getting started instructions to work, and the shortcut the installer automatically places on your desktop points at "everquest.exe" not "eqgame.exe" in case you were using that. Anyway, may not be your issue, but it worked for me, hope it helps.

ps swish!

Well thats what i figured. But my question is how do i get eqgame.exe? I had it before im assuming because it let me to the log in screen. However this time i dont have it? Do i have to reinstall everquest live? Or is there someway i can just change my everquest.exe to eqgame.exe? Thanks!

Is eqgame.exe not in your EQ directory? If this is the case then you need to reinstall Titanium by following the Getting Started Guide (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=211699).

I did a full reinstall of titanium. The only thing i can think of is a full redownload of eq live?

EQ live files will conflict with P99 and potentially break your Titanium install if you're patching/downloading them to the same location.

Is eqgame.exe not in your EQ directory? Need a definitive answer on this in order to help you with the issue.

It is no where to be found in eqlive directory or titanium. Or any directory to be honest. Ive sewrched every file possible and cannot find it. No results for that search.

Are you running antivirus software? If so, disable it, reinstall Titanium, then exclude your EQ directory in your antivirus settings. Or find the files it quarantined, restore them, and then exclude your EQ directory in your antivirus settings.

Ok so. Im a simple guy and would honestly need a break down on that like. Step by step how to. I could do the disabling antivirus software which i think it is. But as far as excluding everything i wouldnt know where to start or how to go about it:/ i would just go to properties on antivirus deal and maybe theres a settings tab? No clue. But i will do this after i get off work! Thanks a million and i really hope it works. I have like 6-7 friends coming from live with me and theyre having the same issue and im the forums test dummy i suppose:) thank you guys for being patient with me and so far im loving the community! I havent even hit enter world yet:)

Probably easiest to just uninstall any antivirus software and reinstall Titanium if you want to play on P99, otherwise consult the Google for instructions on how to restore quarantined files and exclude directories in whichever antivirus program you're using.

Still isnt. I have uninstalled virus scanner / protection and redownloaded and still getting the same error. Im missing eqgame.exe. so titanium install does not contain eqgame.exe so im going to have to reinstall everquest? Which if thats the case. Why can i access live servers, but still not pull up p99?

All i need is an eqgame.exe shortcut that goes to the everquest application and opens it. But idk how to set one up or anything. Any help for this noob?

the problem is probably somehow related to the fact that you're ABLE to connect to EQ live. Just to make sure, for p99, you installed a totally separate copy of (specifically) the titanium client in an entirely different location correct?

Yep.

Yes. I did. C: contains everquest. F: (my ssd) contains titanium. Disc one through five.

Ok first, let me just clarify - live EQ has absolutely nothing to do with Titanium or you playing on Project 1999. You do not need live EQ to use Titanium, nor is Titanium an extension of live EQ. Titanium is a completely self-contained and portable installation of EQ and you do not need any other files except those included with Titanium and the official Project 1999 patch to play on Project 1999, nor can you play on Project 1999 using any other installation of EQ. It's actually better if you do not have live EQ installed because you will be less likely to confuse the two installations with one another.

I have uninstalled virus scanner / protection and redownloaded and still getting the same error.

What do you mean by redownloaded? You redownloaded a fresh copy of Titanium and then reinstalled it, or are you just referring to the Project 1999 patch files? To be clear, I am recommending that you completely delete your old install of Titanium and reinstall it from scratch and then follow the Getting Started Guide (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=211699). If eqgame.exe does not exist in your Titanium files, then something is wrong with that installation of Titanium and you need to reinstall it. If you reinstall it, and eqgame.exe still does not exist in your files (meaning you actually navigated to your Titanium EQ directory and manually verified that the file is not there), then something is wrong with that copy of Titanium and you need to acquire a new copy of Titanium and then reinstall it again. The only other possible explanation is that eqgame.exe is being falsely flagged as a virus and quarantined/deleted by some antivirus program you're running.

Well i disabled my virus scan. Completely deleted all eof everquest live and titanium. Reinstalled eq live first. And did a reinstall of titanium. Removed the 4 files i needed after downloading the p99 files per set up guide. Boom im ready right? Nope cause i still cant find eqgame.exe. however. The same titanium copy was used and installed on my backup pc. And after downloading p99 files and removing the other 4. I am good to go. I want to be able to get my new pc running it so i can play with my son who has been driving me nuts asking to play and i can only tell him it doesnt work. He is at the age he knows but. He thinks im lying because any other game runs fine lol. I just want to spend quality game time with my boy killing treants and gnolls lol. Maybe a giant or two if we ever get that high:) but idk why my old pc runs it and not new. I did uninstall everquest and after i did that on new pc i have been getting this error since. So i figured that was the problem but after reinstalling i still havethe error:/

I was able to literally copy the entirety of C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony to a fresh Windows 10 install on a laptop, create the shortcut to eqgame.exe with the appropriate patchme modifier (when you right click the shortcut on your desktop, click Properties, and it should have something similar to this listed under Target -> "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme) in the shortcut path and have it work without issue. I'd recommend trying to copy all of the Sony folder from the PC that has the working copy of p99 to the new PC, make the shortcut, add patchme to the Target path of the shortcut as seen above, and see if that's the magic bullet you're looking for.

Ya ill attempt that because i tried making a shortcut which target line was c:everquest\something.exe and made it eqgame.exe" patchme and it wouldnt let me apply it because it said the target line was invalid
