Does anyone skate or blade as an adult? Something in the Metro today reminded me that I had skates (https://scooterlay.com/best-roller-skates/) and blades as a child and wondered if anyone does it as an adult? I thought it might be fun to try again and exercise too. Does anyone have recommendations for what to buy or any other related wisdom? Thanks :)

not about your skates its about where you go, you need the right pavement not road

rollerblading can be phenomenal exercise and a good alternative to jogging / walking which a lot of people don't like

Rule#1 of exercise do it outside ( Regardless of weather )

As a skateboarder growing up- We clowned on fruit booters :) There was always rivalry between them and us wood pushers.. Fast forward to 2018- 2 decades later.. There are 0 inline skaters around.. A dead breed. Anyways- It's now on you to bring back rollerblading my man.. Revive the scene! PS- I still do skateboard as a 33 year old.. So you can absolutely still roller blade! And probably much easier on every single joint compared to running.

Get these. Yeah, I know, they're pink.

However, the ball bearing gear to weight distance ratio is the best in the biz.

You'll thank me later. Trust.

My brother and I used to own a skateboard shop in our young 20s. Skateboarding is something that never left us. We're just a little more cautious of how hard we go. Both are great exercise.

skaters hating on rollerbladers is unfair, you need a lot of balance to skate and some of us just don't have it

also I really didn't want to break my ankles / legs / writs / arms like everyone I know who skated

Hahaha you made the right choice! I have bulgy ankles now from so many sprains, and it doesn't take much for me to roll it in general anymore. No broken legs or arms. 1 broken finger, 1 hair line fractured finger, and 1 fractured wrist! And lots of shinners, so many shinners :)

Stick to the skates my man! Make sure you get a solid pair of super short compression shorts, a flashy helmet with a bill, and an old K2 shirt. You'll be the coolest!

PS- K2 Backyard Bobs were the coolest aggressive skate around :)
