Hello,
I have a problem I hope folks can help with - EQ runs perfectly for me at all times, with max clipping, full detail, etc, except when I'm in GD near a ring war.
TLDR: Lag issues only during ring wars, my tech specs should be fine, I've played with many settings and nothing seems to work.
The issue I experience is significant lag which slowly builds until I seem to have > 60 seconds delay on input (e.g. cast a spell, it actually begins to cast > 60 seconds later). When I first get near to the ring war, it runs ok, but then over the next 20-30 seconds the lag just keeps building until I either have to somehow zone, or I simply get disconnected. It does not appear to be an FPS issue at the client side - everything remains smooth and the input works fine at the client side (e.g. clicking buttons, moving around), it is just massive lag between my actions at the client side and resulting things occurring server side (e.g. my spell actually casting, mobs and other players appearing/disappearing).
I do not get anything like this in other zones with large numbers of folks (e.g. I can quite easily watch a raid on AoW with >100 people right next to me all casting spells).
I have tried many different settings, minimised all clip planes, turned detail down including all particle settings, turned off sky settings, etc. Nothing has changed the problem even slightly.
It feels like a combination of lots of people and a large wide open zone, but I have never experienced anything like this in any other zones/situations.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Any suggestions on how I can fix it?
If people could please list any/all suggestions, then I'll be able to test them whenever I next notice a ring war occurring. I don't play a massive amount, so it may be a while before I see one, however having a list of suggestion ready to go would be very appreciated. I'll obviously report back to this thread with any findings either way.
My specs are as follows:
SSD
CPU: Ryzen 1600X[/INDENT]
RAM: 16GB
Video: GeForce GTX 1080 Windforce OC 8GB
Nothing overclocked
Windows 10, EQ running natively in the Titanium client, using the qquicasters skin.
My EQ settings:
Show PC names = on
Show NPC names = on
Show 3D target ring = off
Level of Detail = off
Show my helm = off
Fullscreen = off
Video mode = 1920x1200 59Hz refresh, 32bit depth, in a window (not fullscreen)
Fade delay = 2 sec
Fade duration = 0.5 sec
Window transparency = 100%
Max FPS = 61
LOD Bias = Very low
Loading screen = loading art
Sky type = Complex
Gamma = 52%
Far Clip Plane = 100%
Particles:
Spell
Near Clip: Far
Density: High
On For: All spells
Env
Near Clip: Far
Density: High
Player

On For: Everyone
Opacity = 100%
Many thanks if you read and/or can help.
This seems to be the same problem: https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=290091 but only really acknowledges a problem.
