Sirken keeps throwing out ideas about a customer content. Who knows if it will ever happen but what would you add?

My friend and I were chatting and we never knew why city leaders in velious got sweet loot but city leaders of each city like Kelethin, Freeport etc, never got added as a raid target.

I would add:

A city leader that drops raid loot on each city in Norath.

What would you add or like to see?

I’ll be the first to say it - either killing some insanely hard mob or completing some ridiculous quest resets the sleeper and warders. Then code in a cool down period in which the sleeper cannot be awoken for a limited time. After which, it again becomes up to diplomacy to keep him imprisoned.

I'd also like to see removed items as potential rewards for custom content. Manastone, Guise, Elder Beads. Not saying to flood the server with them or anything, they should remain very rare. But it'd be more fair to the latecomers

Really there’s so much unused content in the game that custom content doesn’t need to mean bringing in new zones, etc.

Start a new classic timeline server. Make that one as classic as is possible. Make this server into p99+ - where the devs work to fix the worst things about original Everquest (nerf click recharges, root raid mobs) and add fun new content that makes all this gear we’ve worked on getting worth having.

I don't think I would return with any custom content unless:

1) some form of AA experience existed

2) LFG tool was re-enabled

3) up ZEM in zones where no one goes

4) other content for max levels.

8th Shawl quest and ending quests for other unfinished quest lines like the iksar shaman cudgel or the qeynos badge. Also at least one good set of cultural tailored/smithed armor for every race.

Also a viable way to raise faction with the dwarves in Crystal Caverns. Also do something with the Kerrans zone (make vah shir playable, re-make it as a viable dungeon for level X characters, or something). In fact, I wouldn't mind classically-themed remakes of a lot of un-used dungeons.

Also a custom dungeon in Ro, just like in LDoN. I don't care about the instanced part, I just feel like EQ deserves an Egyptian-themed dungeon in that desert.

Also stuff other people have mentioned like a Sleeper fix and some way to get old/removed items. I'd add the planking for the BFG to the list (it's a ground spawn not a drop) and I'd also add a one-use potion that let's you bind in Timorous Deep (another thing latecomers missed).

All of those items should of course be stupid rare and hard to get, but I'd hope they'd be hard in the luck sense, not in the "must be level 60 in a top raid guild to get them" sense. Ideally they should be like the pegasus cloak, except crazier, so ther no way for players to figure out the formula (or perhaps there is, but once ten or more people take advantage of it the formula changes).

Green Server.

Green will have to be released before any custom content comes out. The whole idea (as I understand it) is that Blue is currently "as classic as it gets". But when Green comes out Blue will just be the " side effect of developing the Green" server, and at that point there will no reason not to customize Blue.

Isn't there a quest for a sword in befallen, but the quest is broken? I've heard of many quests like this or strange items. Do something with those. Like the broken arrow you get in the shaman epic quest.

Id also like to see a new zone that connects the Oasis to South Karana... but lets make it level 55+ and extremely dangerous to walk through, like if you are not capable of killing a bunch of level 55 mobs then you are not going to be able to make it through this canyon/dungeon... make it like a long ass level 55+ Crushbone but with the desert orcs! with quests to rescue slaves! Maybe tie it into splitpaw, like they are either alllies or enemies!

Maybe make it as difficult as hate or fear or something.

Something that has ogre shamans and bandits, like maybe an

Ogre, Troll, Bandit, Pirate hostile to all races city, that is actually a dungeon, with heavy thick woods and trees with trents and stuff in it... Think like a DRUID themed, bandit/shaman run Castle Mistmoore, located off the north east corner of NK

Maybe by killing farmers you could raise faction and bank/merchant there, so dark races would have something in walking distance of this area of the world to bank and stuff.

Does Norrath even have seasons? It's possible that world has little or no axial tilt, which would explain why there's no apparent seasonal progression throughout the in-game year.

If I could have one custom change--and it'd have to be on a fresh server to have full effect--I'd disable all click items. Yes, all of them, even Alchemy. Aside from fixing most of the worst balance problems in-game, it's less work to break something than to create new stuff.

GNOLLs- gnolls should be a playable race! Their home city could actually be off NK

Undead - the undead should be a playable race!

While it isn't class-specific, don't you get strength buffs if you drink enough booze in-game? Think it was meant to be a way for non-caster melees to buff themselves slightly, but never got much traction due to being too weak to bother with.

I'd like to see some AA's for sure, but they have to be carefully chosen.. This game doesn't need mechanics to make it easier. BUT, i'd love to see hybrids get some AA abilities that make them more useful in the raid scene.. I don't need them stronger.. Just, a bit more useful... Crit healing for hybrid casters would be kinda neat... just a small percentage of a chance tho.. very small. Just little things like that!

Yeah, but this class would get extra buffs from them. Maybe also have access to additional brewing recipes, kind of like how Shamans can train Alchemy.

There really is so much underlying lore and loose ends built into classic EQ that custom content should be easy to put into the game so seemlessly that many people wouldn't never know it wasn't classic.

Here are some of my ideas,

-obscure faction hits hidden in the world or tied to quest lines which open up dialogue options for classic mobs that no one ever thought to talk to... Think about say a faction hit that actually raises faction with Lady Vox where eventually you learn that she has a quest line for some sweet loot.

-I know this is a standard now a days... but bonus effects for wearing a full set of a given armor have always been something I thought was lacking in EQ. In my first few months playing EQ back in 2000, I remember seeing a warrior who was MT for a guild in full Cobalt armor and I asked a bunch of people what bonus he got for a full set and they didn't know what I was talking about. I was sad when I learned that there was not any bonus. Imagine bonus's that change the whole dynamic of best in slot, and breathe life into classic content. Think of bonuses that work for old partial sets like classic mithril and reinforced rhino, obscure sets like black wolf armor and truesilver mail, really hard to get sets like blazing armor of fennin ro or golden efreeti could have crazy bonuses like Mana recovery or casting speed improvements or skill cap bumps.
I see enormous ways to spice up content here that doesn't require new art assets or much of anything besides an effect that triggers when whole sets are equipped. EQ has always been about armor sets from the beginning but there was never any compelling gameplay reason to get them, and so no one ever wears full sets of anything for any reason besides asthetics. I really think this would add enormously to the game.

-i second not being afraid to tinker with some classes to make them more competitive/valuable at the end game, especially hybrids.

Not ok with any custom changes that would reward items outside the scope of classic or not within the bounds of GM "fun items"

So provided said custom content only rewards items seen in classic - velious or GM themed items that are for fun / cosmetic in scope then I'd be ok with it.

So rewarding pre-nerf items. Or illusion clickies or GM rewards from live is ok. Making up gear with stats I'm really really dubious about even if the gear isn't anywhere near BiS

I'd like to see the parts of the game fleshed out that the original game either neglected, or intended to go back to later.

You're telling me that the level 15 Burynai in Kurn's tower are the ones that are slowly reclaiming the temple? A trooper could go in and clean it up. There's obviously a dungeon down there with something that's a bit harder to remove.

The Allize Volew and Allize Taeew factions (in CT/Rathe area) should do something. Why do they hate each other? Who should I back?

Velious class armor should have some variety. Its a shame that there is clear best faction for each class, for the most part. Choosing to back Giants/Dragons/Dwarves should be a tough choice, without a clear answer.

I wish Velious felt more tense, with the racial wars going on. It'd be cool to see small skirmishes of giants and dwarves, or giants and dragons. Even if they didn't do anything.

Add 1 stamina and 5 hp per level to the coldain rings. They shouldn't suck till the end.

A Coldain Ring equivalent for each faction. If you're doing the giants, at some point you're with Nirandi on an attack on Thurgadin, culminating with leading the Giants into Skyshrine, where we see their confusing and layered defenses designed to keep the Giants out in action. Whatever item you have prohibits you from getting the other race rewards. If you have ring 10 and want to get what the giants/dragons quest going? Turn in your ring to show your new allegiance.

I'd like a server where mobs start at level 60 instead of level 1, and you can /servercopy your char from P99. You start out killing level 60 bats in the newbie zone and work your way up. Stats on items are all buffed to be upgrades for level 60s. Level cap is 120. It's the world exactly as it is now, just for 60+, like naming your char ZELDA in the original Legend of Zelda and making the world harder.

I think the server economy isnt too terrible for new players. They can gear up for cheaper than ever before. It's just the mid range players who are relatively established, but find it hard to amass wealth outside of tunnelquesting/MQ selling that are having a hard time (me). The efficient moneymakers on p99 are mostly things that I don't find to be fun, so I end up relatively broke.

I would want just more of what makes this era of the game great and maybe to incentivize better use of existing zones. As I am also wary of adding made up items to the game I think new content could drop loot that exists (maybe renamed for lore purposes), loot that was previously removed from the game (ton po's stick, scimitar of the mistwakler, rod of annihilation, etc), items that primarily are for fashion or convenience (illusion clicks, gate/port clickies, sow version of jboots), or maybe natural counterparts to existing loot that have only minor differences from existing items (maybe a cloak of ice swapping CR for FR or a ring of lightning for wis casters that replaces int with wis).

Mt goals would line up with alot of the suggestions already with things like:

- ring like quest that culminates with raid event for other velious factions
- mini-bosses or 2nd boss in skyshrine (like Kael has statue+KT) with quest lines that incentivize being on Kael/Tormax faction to break the default position of everyone being on SS/coldain
- A quest/raid that brings back the warders to re-imprisson Kerafyrm
- Velious style city leader raid encounters in old world/kunark cities
- move or add chase mid-tier items to less explored dungeons (think some sebilis type items in Chardok)
- tweak zone xp modifiers to encourage use of ignored content (droga, nurga, kedge, basically every zone in velious)
- Bristlebane raid encounter in throneroom in PoM

I really like this one because it makes something that was once a core objective of the game actually desired again.

On the downside, this would result in the top guilds "competing" for the planes more heavily, but who knows maybe there will bag limits or some other way for the rest of the server to "compete" by then.

LDON or LDON style content, whereby no raiders can accumulate currency (although I would prefer faction hurdles rather than fake currency) to obtain raid quality upgrades.

Alternatively (or in addition) groupable and soloable epic length quests to obtain raid quality items (or guides, manastones etc) - like the shawl and ring quests but without the final rewards locked behind a raid. More like the Qeynos badge quests.

Gød choice here, but Im not a big fan of these city leader and bristlebane raids. Doesnt look good rp/lore wise. If there were racial guilds I could see it work. Its like killing the dain while ur wearing ring 9, its stupid. Velious is on to something but the fantasy gets busted.

Id also like to see a new zone that connects the Oasis to South Karana... but lets make it level 55+ and extremely dangerous to walk through, like if you are not capable of killing a bunch of level 55 mobs then you are not going to be able to make it through this canyon/dungeon... make it like a long ass level 55+ Crushbone but with the desert orcs! with quests to rescue slaves! Maybe tie it into splitpaw, like they are either alllies or enemies!

Maybe make it as difficult as hate or fear or something.

I mean if it's an overland zone plus an additional dungeon zone branched off of it sure, but I see no reason to connect it to South Karana unless there is a decently safe passage for characters 15-35 can pass through. I do like the idea of something connecting to SK though, because if there is any part of the game that I feel is the most underdeveloped zones in the original game, it was the Karanas. They're way too large and mob placement is too spread out on top of the very ugly texture placement it has compared to the vastly superior zones on the eastern side of the continent. This might encourage people to go out of their way to zones.

Map based on proportion. I truly don't understand why these zones are so god damn huge when they really shouldn't be. I get this feeling that during development, these were some of the very first overland zones they made before they realize they're idiotically huge before they made overland zones 3x smaller throughout the rest. If it were up to me, I would cut down their size to the same size as places like Commonlands and Desert of Ro ect, make it so the textures look a lot crisper compared to Commonlands, place a city/town south of Qeynos which would be Highborne (from EQOA's lore as a small Erudite town) and have it connect directly to South Karana through a mountain pass or something. West Antonica always needed dire love

This server needs a serious MONEY SINK.
What's that? A way for currency to EXIT the economy. ATM its just tinkerer's bag that takes 5k chunks out of players hands, and maybe some professions that take some more. Other than that money just cycles between players until you have guilds with millions of plat and players charging hundreds of thousands for certain items.
Implement some kind of aesthetic bonus for a steep price (i.e. purchase a sick animation glow or something that lasts a limited time) and give incentive for players to spend money to NPCs.
This will help the economy which desperately needs aid. Nothing that gives stat advantage though. Purely aesthetic. Or you will have further power imbalance for the long-term players.

Tournament of nameless idea where he comes down and makes a bunch of groups fight each other in a battle royale and the winning group gets a wish from the devs like class race combos that are unique and the losing teams all get erased permanently. People didnt like it.. And I didnt steal it from an anime or anything

I'm conflicted on that, I really liked that about Diablo II but in EQ it may lead to a bit much 'cookie cutter' itemization.

It would be nice if they were situational, with various full sets giving a large resist bonus, maybe some kind of focus effect, etc. You would need a lot of bag / bank space so you couldn't collect everything. Almost have to choose a specific path.

I always thought it would be cool to have great weapon / gear with 'Death Charge: 5' or something. Meaning, every time you died with the item (either on you, cursor, or in bags / inv) then the death charge counted down by one. When it reaches zero, the item disappears.

Could lead to some nice items that by design have 'Death Charge: 1' on them. Will you risk it or play it safe?

Cept in pure classicEQ style the stats on the sets would usually be pretty blah overall compared to handpicking selected items for each slot and then the set bonus was always 'good enough' that you get forced into junking the min/max stats you are chasing. Ugh EQ2 sets and their bonuses.

I think it would be fun to stick a raid boss in every zone and make the boss themed for that zone. It'd be cool to see a raid in Felwithe for Firiona Vie or in Gorge for King Xorbb. Maybe put the AC back in EK and make him level 70 and drop 10 rings, one for each finger. It'd be cool if the Sphinxes in Rathe were turned into raid mobs too. Maybe stick the Leviathan or whatever kind of monster was originally envisioned for Lake Rathe in too.

EQ2 didn't have sets and bonuses until around EoF in 2006 I believe. And even then they were so small and not horrendously huge. I stopped playing by 2014 but by then set bonuses stopped being utilized almost entirely.

You wanna see the content? ok sure, but it's not going to be the same value as open world with competition.

There is actually really good reason for this. It has t do with mob population density and zone geography. When you are in a foggy forest, very hilly area, or a dungeon with lots of twists and turns, it easier to hide a mob spawn behind every corner. ( I bet than Blackburrow has more mobs than West Karana.)
However, when you are in wide open area that SUPPOSE TO BE WIDE OPEN AREA - having mobs standing 5 feet away from each other will look ridiculous - you have to spread them out to make things look realistic. If any of the plains of Karana would be size of Lesser Faydark, while NOT being a foggy forest, then by standing in the middle of it you could see the zone from one end to another with every single mob in sight. And that would be just plain stupid.
So yes, large open area outdoor zones HAVE TO BE MUCH LARGER, in order to spread mobs out more, to make it look real. Plains being a bit empty and lacking some decent geographic features is another thing - that has to do with early zone makers not being very experienced - Kunark outdoor zones were clear upgrades in that regard.

Doesn't have to be an instance. The problem with most EQ dungeons is that level span is too large (sometimes up to 15 levels!). So instead of doing dungeon run in a classical DnD sense from start to finish, you only fight in until your group level and then sit on the same 4 rooms for next 5 hours. I always found this dumb. I like approach of WoW dungeon more - dungeon level varies 1-2 lev max, so group can actually go from start to final boss without hitting a hard level wall. Again - does't need to instanced.

They did had them before EoC, but EoC is when they were crazy. I remember Emerald Halls were a total frustration in regards to loot, because all gear was 1 class only, and EQ2 had 24 freaken classes. So we are good guild from Qeynos with practically no char from Freeport side, and basically no evils at all, and we get drops for necro, assassin and SK - awesome - 100% loot rot! I stopped playing around that time. (then dumbing down crafting system what was REALLY killed EQ2 for me - I loved it so much)

This humble post needs to be quoted. I wish there was a server with the population of P99 that was ambitious enough to entertain custom content with the objective of keeping the classic feeling and encouraging people to experience ALL the zones from these two early expansions. In my personal opinion, the best way to do this is through expanding the quests available to players in ways that expose them to lore and give them some kind of marginal upgrades to existing classic items that make the effort worthwhile.

I think it would be brilliant to put in some quests for the planar armor sets where you have to talk to a NPC, they reference your POF or POH armor and say they've heard of a smith who can correct some flaws. For instance, the 9 int and 0 wisdom on a Vermiculated druid helms .... in exchange for going to some obscure areas and collecting some lore, no drop items, they'll take that helm and re-forge it into a "Rectified Vermiculated Helm" with wisdom instead of intellect. Every class has useless planar armor drops that could be made into something meaningful through this style of quest, and I really wish they had done this on live as a part of the velious revamp.

Custom Content isn't necessarily about making more end game stuff or making people more powerful in total, it's just about creating some more meaningful experiences and possibly addressing some of the unique issues with eternal legacy servers, which I'll reference below.

It's not terribly hard to farm Velious armor, and Velious armor and Velious armor absolutely is better than planar armor, making POF/POH gear fairly irrelevant from a gearing perspective.

Obviously, they'd have to ensure that stat itemization doesn't turn the upgraded quested gear into BIS because you don't want this content to be the end game objective but more of a filler than people can do as a follow up to an existing raid tier(where they get the base piece) and the next one they'd logically do. Tuning it so that key stats are just under equivalent Thurgadin armor pieces would make sense.

What's that? A way for currency to EXIT the economy. ATM its just tinkerer's bag that takes 5k chunks out of players hands, and maybe some professions that take some more. Other than that money just cycles between players until you have guilds with millions of plat and players charging hundreds of thousands for certain items.
Implement some kind of aesthetic bonus for a steep price (i.e. purchase a sick animation glow or something that lasts a limited time) and give incentive for players to spend money to NPCs.
This will help the economy which desperately needs aid. Nothing that gives stat advantage though. Purely aesthetic. Or you will have further power imbalance for the long-term players.

These two concepts could absolutely exist together and I'd even say we need more than just a money sink but an item sink. These POF/POH items are consumed when they're upgraded, and costing a few thousand PP per piece in addition to the collected items for the quest just makes sense.

But whats to say that you couldn't also do something with the tradeable class armor like Deepwater or Blood Ember ... which has gotten so cheap you'll see it sold to vendors. Having a quest that would upgrade these items and add a very small number of meaningful stats (Say 2 sta, 2 wis to some paladin boots ) that costs some platinum and creates a no-drop item is a double bonus if the goal of this server is to have a classic economy experience as it unfloods an excess of high end gear on the market, pulls some Platinum out of the market, and gives someone the opportunity to complete an entertaining and interesting quest which results in a very marginal upgrade that's not going to upset balance. Right now, if you get normal drops, they just don't sell for very much ... but high end items like RBG/Fungi etc still sell for 50k + You'd have to get and sell 166 deepwater helms to buy a fungi tunic, that's not classic based on my experience on live.

Lastly, you have the trade-able "Pre-nerf" items that go for massive amounts of money and are basically unobtainable for any new people coming to the server. People will say that's how classic was, but economically, I'd say that due to the massive amount of accrued money it's a little different. I've seen Holgresh elder beads auctioned for 400,000pp. I'm not saying that they shouldn't be crazy expensive but you certainly could add a quest for someone to turn in a current holgresh elder beads, add some other quest items and something more reasonable like 50k to 100kpp and create a no-trade pre-nerf elder beads for that person.

This all feels positive to me. It can make the game more interesting, provide players with new things to do that may encourage adventuring to some more obscure/lesser used areas, and improve the overall economy of the server.

Epic raid mobs that take 200+ people to kill after a week long series of raids from guilds to complete a quest line. These epic raid mobs only spawn once a month. If killed the whole server gets a random bonus: Double xp for a week, Double drop rates, Double faction, a Simulated respawn.

A questline to upgrade epics to be better than ToV weapons and maybr add focus effects for casters - i.e mana prev 3 etc.

A few PvP zones added to blue that have 0 GM intervention but included in them will be amazing items so guilds will have to fight over them and can train/pvp etc as much as they want without GMs getting involved.

Wars based on combined server factions: no new content, just things like Lucan taking over neriak or KoS guars roaming the Karanas for foreigners. With a few new quests and tiering city bosses into raidable npcs. Like if Crushbone faction wins one week, orcs enslave kelethin until Dvinn is killed. If he is not killed in a week, he takes felwithe. Then mistmoore vs akanon etc, and the reverse.

Limbo, heaven and hell: faction or class based death zones. Paladins go to heaven when they die, SKs in hell. You could have a level 60 human in limbo that's only level 21 in norrath. Same exact content but with only a few quests: to move from limbo to hell/heaven or heaven to limbo to hell etc, or back to Norrath (200% rez maybe?).

The development time required for the team to properly put together POP would be completely ridiculous. It took them 4 years to code finish Velious, and that's a FAR less-involved expansion.

Throughout Norrath, there are quite a few places that appear to be connectors to zones which may have been planned for the future, but were never used. It would be cool to use those to connect Kunark to Velious, or Velious to Faydwer, or something along those lines.

The best part would be, don't announce it, let players discover them randomly.

Imagine that somewhere deep in the mines under Kaladim, if you click on the right crystal or rock, you end up deep in Crystal Caverns. Or if you're in one of those odd tunnels in Field of Bone, you walk through an invisible wall and end up in the Spectre tower in Oasis of Marr. Or walking through a waterfall in Upper Guk places you at the bottom of the Lake of Ill Omen (where the future Veksar was placed).

The possibilities are endless. They could be made to be one-way only, or not. Either way would be fun.

I always enjoyed the mini dungeons of Ldon. Be kinda cool to have one spot where you could do mini dungeon 6 man raids. Wouldn’t need to be for any unique item or anything but just for fun, different and good exp.

Class Balance:

Enchanter - Attack rate of charmed mobs reduced 33%. 49% of charmed mob's agro transferred to the enchanter.

Magician - CotH can be cast across zones with a 90 second cooldown, non-epic pet damage increased a little bit

Necromancer - Can raise mobs from the dead and control them as though charmed. Raised mobs cannot gain HP through any means.

Wizard - Crits introduced. Large damage increase of nukes on targets that don't have the wizard as #1 on their hate list. Agro generation of nukes increased significantly.

Cleric - Increased agro generation of heals to be closer to that of slows and DoTs.

Druid - Verdant Soul - Group buff (given off like a bard song) increases group's XP gain by 15%

Bard - I don't know, something fun

Monk - Decreased mitigation to be in line with rogue, ranger

Ranger - Archery damage increased to be on par with other dps classes, only while both ranger and target are stationary.

Rogue - Ability: Sap - Used when behind out-of-combat target and invisible (sneaking), 30 second stun if landed successfully.

Paladin - Spell: Crusade - Increased damage by 66% against target as long as it is focusing on the Paladin (#1 on hate list)

Shadow Knight - Spell: Unholy Crusade - Increased damage by 66% against target as long as it is focusing on the Shadow Knight (#1 on hate list)

I'm not really interested in class balance. I think there is enough granularity between classes so their unique mixes of abilities appeal to all players.

I feel like balance if anything should push towards warriors and rogues being the mode classes, and rarity of peripheral classes should be part of their attraction to those of that mindset.

The underrepresentation of Knights makes them feel special for instance.

This would take years minimum but I believe a classic client albeit one that can use velious UI combined the general philosophy of "Yes it's 20 years and everything is known content wise but fuzzily known mechanics implemented as a best guess combined with arcane rules on the back end of things are a decent simulacrum of that classic feel"

Have fun rewriting the EQclassic source from the ground up although not a horrible place to start your own project. I guess admins have no interest in applying a hypothetical trilogy compatible layer due to netcode issues which is a shame as that would allow p1999/TAKP players to get those classic feels without resorting to another box.

Game is pretty solid as-is, but I think wizards could be fixed pretty easily as a custom content idea. They're the gimpest class by far outside raiding and quadding and need some love.

For starters, wizards need a JBB/burnt wood staff type tradeable item available to click in the mid 40s. It should do roughly 30 mana-free dps, so maybe something that casts Ice Shock with a 10 sec cast time. This'll make them a perfectly decent group dps class for steady pulls instead of the worst sustained dps class in the game. It's seriously crazy that mages and shamans get these tradeable clickies and wizards do not.

Secondly, let wizard nukes crit. This wont make an enormous difference, but the "best" nukers should have a crit chance for the occasional wow factor.

Finally, have harvest return a percentage of total mana rather than a set amount of mana, sort of like monk's mend skill. Maybe 25%. That way stacking mana actually serves a purpose beyond the occasional situation in which you need to unload a total mana bar.

I can't think of anything else. Enchanters can keep their dang clarity for all I care

Some custom ideas that others may or may not have mentioned:

- Drink and food have different timer effects so a simple muffin does not last as long as Shellcracker's Seaside Salad. Also a separate buff window where drink and food that offer bonuses are in affect _after_ the food is consumed. While the game had limitations for its time, it is a bit odd that food in storage is offering bonuses and once consumed becomes null. "Those bear steaks molding away in my backpack sure were buffing me up - too bad I ate it and it's not doing anything for me now."

- Taking an idea from Eve Online, players can hire a broker to sell their wares in the back part of the tunnel (in the open space around Shady) - thus limited in spacing. Their going rates is based upon the selling prices for what you wish to sell; thus the higher the asking price, the more these brokers demand. And for a further cost, every fifteen minutes they will shout the items they are selling. But this shouting range is limited to an area surrounding the area. Thus the outer edge of Shady's circular area might have someone at the tunnel entrance hear the offers, but those in the forest area would not hear squat. If the player does not claim their selling items back before their payment timer is up, any remaining items would go into a lay-a-way type of holding. Thus a player's delay would cost them to retrieve their items! General standing around and auctioning as it current works would still be free!

- To keep things "grounded" to the gaming planet we are on, add bits and pieces of other expansion zones: Broken Skull Rock zones from Legacy of Ykesha, Jaggedpine Forest, even have the lost dungeons randomly appear in their respected area on a completely random timer. That is, a group of players running across Northern Ro daily might suddenly stumble onto a sink hole in the sand. Until they enter, what level the monsters within would be unknown: might be simple, even par, or outright slaughter. And to add a bit more danger, once you enter, the same sink hold collapses onto itself and the group of players must find another way out (one way directional exit).

- Add the various planes from the Planes of Power expansion to parts of the gaming world that would appear to make "sense". As an example, the Plane of Disease would have an open portal from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the back recesses of the Qeynos Catacombs where all the evil game masters reside. Obviously players as a whole would not have any AA points so entering these planes would be quite challenging. Those players that worship the Plaguebringer would be barred from entering such holy grounds. The monsters within would have to be revised to be appropriate to other planar equivalents. That is (off the top of my head), a mosquito in Disease should not be the same level as Inny in Hate. While the gods and goddesses themselves should be relatively even across the board, at the same time, being deities over mere mortals should (nearly) result in a win for them and not the players! But if the players do succeed in temporarily slaying one, their treasures should be worth the effort!

- And make players' actions have an effect upon other players. A group of good players slaying Bertoxxulous should have a (temporary) negative penalty against players that worship that now (temporary) slain god.

Weird how everyone wants to change something specifically meant to be immutable. While ignoring where this project sprang out of which happens to cater to all these 'innovations'.

Honestly, I think there is SO much content for the sub 50 grind that it'd be cumbersome to add more, aside from some quests to make 'decent' gear more attainable (not everyone can afford to Fungi their main, yet 100% of groups in CoM the other day contained a Fungi monk or tank, and some group members were even dropped from group for being 'undergeared') - maybe thats a generalization though. A lot of the 2018/2019 level 1-50 crowd also has the Nostalgia "bug" in a far-out kinda way, so 'new content' might be a little wasted on people wanting to "finally get their main to level 54" or "finally get their hands on an Epic" - both very 'classic' experiences.

Custom content could greatly benefit the endgamers, though, who have a wealth of knowledge about the game yet tend to drop-off because the Raid scene is so toxic, or they lose interest. I definitely 'cosign' the requests for, I believe it was, "hella Old Sebilises all around Norrath" - this could make the endgame group scene a little bit more viable and exciting, much like the current 30s-40s group scene. On my 'younger' alts, I'm always meeting new people and having a blast in zones I STILL haven't visited, while my 60 Sham is the Ferrari in the garage that only comes out for 'big deal' kinda things... or just farming pixels... or preparks for rare spawns... with the same people, in the same guild, searching after the same damn things. I'd love for my 'main' to feel fun and exciting again, with some addenda to the vast world of Norrath. I want Stella to get her Groove back.

I do agree, unfortunately. I started back messing around on P99 this week after nearly a year away. I went to the Coirnav TLP server last year when it dropped in March. Have kept up on raid content, but got bored during non-raid times due to the abysmal rate of exp there [I have two raid geared 60s there, but the rate of progress makes you not wanna level a crew of alts.] Then went to live and leveled to 90, then recently rolled on Phinigel when mercenaries became available.. went to 60 and grinded about 50 AAs before I realized I'd rather spend my non-raid hours here.

I love this project. The community is outstanding, A+ and cannot be matched, but the incentive to remain is so poor. This coming from someone who has been here since shortly after launch in 2009. The raid scene here is absolutely atrocious compared to any EQ server. It's 2019. The idea that the only thing to do these days is batphone fuckin' Kunark and Velious mobs is laughable. I've done it multiple times here and its no more fun than it ever was. The level of support that P99 receives deserves something better than the absurd high-end game that's present. Talented dev crew, a hungry player base.. make it great. I think launching that mythic Green server would take pressure of the idea of custom content, but for years I have wanted to see these guys do something more. Having spent countless hours over the last year experiencing EQ beyond Velious its beyond me why there is such a level of hatred for the path the development took. EQ became a much, much better game than it was through Velious. The quality of life changes weren't some kind of EQ killer, they embraced and improved the game in most every way. That said, I know there is some irrational aversion to taking any steps in that direction. So take P99 in a direction that doesn't include that stuff. There are hundreds if not thousands of excellent recommendations that have been presented that would in no way break that classic mold.

Side note, I saw a thread in one of these forums that basically asked GMs to remove themselves from raid policing. If nothing else is done, then at least do that. It is not and was never a GM role, and it ruins the experience once you are sitting at level 60. I cannot believe that staff has wasted countless hours over the years only to make everyone's raid experience less fun and less classic. GTFO with that.

Ideally, I would like to see the Iksar epic quests realized and implemented. I would like to see the devs versions of quests that were active in vanilla but never went anywhere. Solutions to the BFG etc.

For the time frame of the server and the fact that the sleeper has been woke? It would be awesome to run an epic quest line to put that cloth hat dropping bastard back into his binding. Or make Kerafyms drop all of the time restricted things that everyone wants. Beat the sleeper, wardens come back etc. It would give the top guilds something to do, the younger guilds something to work towards, and us plebs something to dream about.

Yeah.. It's not classic, but neither is eight years of RoK and SoV.

Rotating ZEM modifiers. 1 dungeon that is 1-46, 1 outdoor zone that is 1-46, and one non-raid zone that is in 46-60 level range. Changes every earthquake. Will help deal with raising population. Doesn't have to be a crazy modifier maybe 20%.

Increase respawn time for hate minis and fear golems. Keep variance more or less the same. Maybe adjust pathing mobs to make it more difficult to park trackers.

Change sky efreeti pops to 6 or 8 days so they don't get locked into whoever was in sky when there was an earthquake.

All changes that will allow dev team to focus on Chardok 2.0 and dealing with aging/growing p99 population. Makes lower end raid content more accessible but keeps the hardest stuff mostly the same.

This is my one and only hope for custom content. Give us a way to bring the Warders back. Allowing a single guild of neckbeards to monopolize content and deprive the entire population of (arguably) the most rewarding content in the game was a bad idea.
