Well man the typical answer to this kind of question is to either
A) give it some time. One instance of not being able to find a group isnt a fair sample size.
B) Try a more popular zone, the xp highway is called that for a reason. Oasis -> mistmoore -> City of Mist -> Karnors -> Seb. Hanging out in these zones will likely net you a group sooner or later.
C) or my favorite suggestion ; start your own groups. You're an X-leveled ranger so /who all cleric/shaman/druid x+/- 5, /who all enchanter x +/- 5 and so forth and ask if they'd like to join you in a GRAND adventure to the depths of guk or to the scorching heat of sola. Upsell it, send some tells, build a friends list.
Enjoying the pulling role as a ranger is awesome because you are an awesome puller and you'll take the job most people desire to do the least !
LFM is 100x more powerful than LFG. Even if its just simply your alone looking for more. LFM implies you have something established and just need to fill roles. LFG only suggests that you would join something if it became available.

Definitely C- Start your own groups. Hit the /who all (level range) lfg. And just start sending out the same message to everybody- Assembling group for ____, are you interested? It never takes me more than an hour to finally assemble a group of adventurers. And i know many many people, myself included, who could care less about the groups make up. For a normal exp group that is... I can see needing certain make ups for accomplishing certain things. But a KC group or some other mass exp zone.. People are trippin thinkin they need a proper group make up.. I don't care if i have 2 tanks, 3 rangers, and a shaman as healer.. Don't care! Just want to have fun and play.. And like homey said- You'll develop a group of solid adventurers you'll call friends!

I have a 51 Ranger.
You'll have no trouble finding a group.
However, if it's between you and a Rogue and the group doesn't need a puller?
The Rogue will be picked over you.

Play to your strengths and utility, be a good player, make some pals, and pull together groups in out of the way places. Doing this made me some solid friends that I eventually guilded with and now its sweet.
What level?

Mis-read subject, thought this would be a discussion about ranger butts. Disappointed.

Ranger best class.
A knowledgeable, well equipped Ranger is definitely the most fun class in EQ.

Nothing more fun than stacking rangers in KC. Starve other groups of pullers and keep the best pulls to yourself.
I never managed to make a full ranger group, but I did get at least 4 a few times.
Once 55 and epic/cloaked make friends with a similarly levelled necromancer.

Once 55 and epic/cloaked
My Ranger is semi-retired, but man do I want to do my cloak.
That cloak is amazing.

Took me roughly 3 years to get mine. Totally worth it though.

Got the droppable cloak parts on my first sky run. It'll take 3 years to get the no drop component. :)
Such is EQ.
Even without a cloak, Rangers are a blast to play. 51+ is pretty rough so far, as far as solo leveling speed, but there are worse ways to go.

Yeah. 51-60 took me an entire week. Brutal

Got my cloak on my first sky run after hitting 46 on him. Was the only ranger on the raid. Having sky cloak + epics makes 51+ super fast for a melee class. I haven’t really had the urge to play mine since I hit 54, but I can usually knock out a level in a day or two pretty easily. I’m sure it will slow down a good bit now that he’s 54, but imo it’s not rough at all.

I got to 60 before they removed the XP penalty on hybrids, so I can't speak to how it is these days, but from what I remember ....
54 wasn't horrible. 59 was horrible. Did terrible things to my old world factions trying to sneak XP in wherever I could find it.

Wha? That's incredibly fast imo... I just hit 60 on my Ranger and he is over 3 years old :D

59 legit took me 3 months to get through with the XP penalty. :(

I got keeper of souls piece on my first ever sky run - then, 1 year and like a month later, a harpy tongue decided to drop (Auld Lang Syne) - that cloak took some doing.

I have no issues getting groups with my Ranger. HHK, MM, CoM, you are welcome everywhere.

i used to not want to group with rangers until i started playing my monk
now i'd gladly invite any ranger, only cuz i hate pulling. rangers somehow are all very willing to pull, im guessing its cuz they want to feel useful since they are halfass in everything else

Both my monk and ranger are in the mid-50's and I enjoy pulling with my Ranger much more.
With Harmony, roots, and SoW it's just quicker, more control, and more consistent.
I can pull singles all day if needed or bring a lot.

Unlike monk, pulling on ranger is a quick and painless experience, and you can even pull a bunch of mobs at once but have them arrive in camp individually thanks to roots and snares.

Thank you!
Groups need to stop asking monks to pull. This is not 1999 we don't need monks to pull singles. Anyone and their mom's toon can pull multiples and let the group handle the rest. If the group is not capable of handling more than one then you should disband and join another.
