I've never used the LFG tool on Live.

When I was quadding the giant fort I saw other people there all the time, so I wouldn't exactly call it deserted. The orc fort on the other hand ... I don't blame anyone for not using it.

Is the lfg tool actually functional yet simply disabled?

As I remember it the LFG tool in practice was just a glorified GUI for /who. It had features like "my group wants a 45 52 rogue", but I don't remember anyone ever actually used any of them: they just did the same basic LFG checks done now but more conveniently.

Maybe others had a different experience?

Its essentially global /OOC that lets you clearly set up what your group is looking for and to let people know what you are trying to accomplish. Red basically has this already so why not Blue?

Blue didn't have duck/cancel on spells for years either, people weren't lining up to report that as a bug though...even Daldean was quiet on the issue.

What level/mana pool range are you guys quadding the giants? Loot/efficiency still blows, but it seems like it can be decent for semi-afk soloing if pulled to decently flat and clear area.

It would seem a reasonable venture. I would use it to find a group for my rogue. Standing in an over-used zone like Mistmoore waiting for a boring grind group is not exactly good motivation for leveling.

It is the path of least resistance to some though--another alt sped to 50+ just to end up gather dust and earning that DKP.

I think the issue is critical mass. A discord with ten people who join at all different hours doesn't help anyone, and will quickly become a discord with zero people.

The trick is to somehow get enough people excited about the idea to have a critical mass (maybe 50?) actively using the channel, so that it has enough momentum to sustain itself.

Maybe others had a different experience?used it on agnarr a lot. You can be anon or role and it sees you too. Justt throw up lfg and you can add a note too for saying something like seb keyed or that you have a high level druid roommate.

Right, I didn't mean it never got used, I just meant ... how many times when you were looking for a replacement did you actually use the fancy tool user interface to specify "my group is looking for a rogue with these specific levels", and then waited for the right one to turn up, vs. how often did you just use it to see what LFG rogues were out there so you could send them a tell?

Maybe you did use the features, and if so I'm curious to hear that, but just my experience was very few people used the tool "properly", and most just used it as a glorified /who lfg all.

Gah, I hate the lack of edit in RnF. I'm especially curious about how you used it "properly". Was it mainly the notes, or did you use the "group looking for another" feature too?

I only use the part that lets you see lfg players (can sort or view select classes and levels) or make yourself lfg.

Its incredibly useful and does nothing more than eliminate wasted time and effort.

If devs remove it even though it was useable thats about as nonsensical as the raid scene.

I haven't used it in awhile, but afaik even lfg variables don't seem to work anymore (e.g. /who all LFG 45 55 cleric). That example used to return all clerics within the range of 45 and 55 who were LFG, but for some reason it quit working sometime during kunark. Made building groups a whole lot easier and faster imo.

Also, this server used to have global OOC, and it was glorious. The server population back then was only like 600 people during peak hours, so a significantly smaller population, but I like the option of being able to monitor a server wide channel. You could of course turn it off as well. I'm still amazed no one has come forward with logs of the old Andain and Danth erotica that used to get spammed in global OOC. Some of that stuff was absolute gold. I lost all my logs prior to ~2012 when a hard drive shit out on me.

I used lfg tool on live during the pop era and it was great. You could be someplace out of the way and still find people for your grp without going through 3-12 /who all class levellow levelhigh

Giant fort's nice since there are 8 same-ish level giants (and the captain, who you just harmony). If you have a lumi staff they're not bad 46-51 or 49-51 with no staff.

Sorta, I've always felt that people are primarily in Sebilis for EXP and any loot was a bonus. Excluding King camp. Sebilis is better EXP so people gravitate there..

I think there's also a strong pull for a popular zone remaining the most popular. People will naturally first go where they're most likely to find a group. I kinda see this like asking why isn't Thurgadin the auction hub rather than EC? Cause it's always been EC..

The real problem is all the camps are jammed up with Shaman / Enchanter solo or duo's. Even in Seb half the place is usually camped by about 6 people.

So in other words just wonder around aimlessly from overland to overland in Velious just to say fuck it and travel to Kunark for a group in KC, Seb ect because ultimately that's where the groups tend to happen.

Velious was always a flawed expansion rushed out quickly to meet the demands of the high end raiders. Kunark is chill as fuck and the best out of the two.
