Aren't JBoots like 5k? That's a long ways off :)

Buy gear and sow potions for now. Wizards don't get our first snare until level 29, and our first good AE quad nuke is at level 34. Once you're higher level, you can start porting for plat and save up for j-boots.

Just save the plat for your spells maybe some cheap INT gear

The 5k for Jboots will be a lot easier when you can port ppl for plat

Don't waste your money on gear that doesn't give much benefit.

As a wizard the s ro jboots are pretty easy to solo (grab a high level sow and a staff of temperate flux). Every 8pm hit the desert to check for the 9pm AC pop).

Not at level 9 though.

By the time you can start quadding, you'll be able to port people.

A couple of ports will buy you roughly 10 hours of SoW.

jBoots are half the speed of SoW.

SoW pots, baby.

you won't be able to quad effectively without jboots. they are a critical component. I would never even fathom being reliant on sow pots for your basic leveling, seems like a bunch of shamans in this thread trying to drum up business. you also won't be able to quad without 2-3k in +int/mana gear either tho. I would get you some gear first, and switch over to the jboots when you get around lvl 34 (which is the point you're gonna want to start quadding)

2-3k? Damn, I got the impression that i need just a few +int/mana pieces. Do you have some suggestions on items I should get?

I was quadding with my wizard around lv 24 with jboots. I leveled extremely quickly because of it.

well ya, but "a few" int/mana pieces end up costing 100-300 ea, with some going up to just south of 1k. it adds up real fast. Golden sapphire earrings, loam encrusted set, impskin gloves, braided cinch cord, bracelet of woven grass or golden jaded bracelet, are good items to start looking for.

your mainhand is going to be sotf (staff of temperate flux... not your epic) for 100% of your quadding career, don't bother with a primary.

Don't we get a snare at lvl 29. Or were you doing it w/o snare?

i'm sure he was just running away and nuking with a quad aoe. it's certainly possible but even more tedious than normal quadding since you have to run for a while between nukes. with that said, wiz life is hard and it may be better exp than waiting to find a group willing to take you.

For 100p, you get 5 hours of SoW with a 10 Dose potion. If we go by the cheapest MQ price of 5k on the wiki, and assuming they don't have to use their own gold for the turn-in, that's 250 hours of SoW for the price of J Boots. That seems like a much more reasonable exchange for a new player than trying to save up for so much at one time.

Even if we look at all the downtime for a wizard that's quadding, they could probably get at least two kites in per shot of the potion if they manage their time well. Possibly even three, depending on their level and if they ran into some nice players who tossed them a PotG and/or C2.

My suggestion would be to focus on gear and spells for now, get some pots when you start quadding, and worry about J Boots when you're a more established player. But that's just my 2c.

yeah, but after the end of that 250 hrs you still have jboots. plus you have the advantage of having a clicky (useful for refreshing your slot 1 spell quickly, or as a junk buff in certain situations) and this is eq... 250 hrs is not an unheard of amount of time to be playing a character if you are serious about getting to 60.

I was doing it without snare. Just have to pick the slower mobs. I made a killing the sisters in OOT.

Certainly. But at what cost? Do you want to live in your car while you save up for a nice house, or would you rather live in an affordable apartment in relative comfort until you could afford the house? I would choose the latter.

Staff of Temperate Flux can be cast from inventory, losing out on stats from a cheap primary is just silly. My wizzy is almost 56 and I've used Flux Staff in primary 0 times.

ah, you're right. never occurred to me to try. now i have 3 clickables in inventory though, that's really starting to hurt bag space.

Ahh, tbh I don't think you need that in an always clickable slot. Should be able to bag it and swap it in to cast when needed. Should be able to run Staff+Jboots and 6 bags.

This is the thing to do. Super easy for a wizard. Spend the 5k on other upgrades. 1-35 you should be spending your plat on spells and cheap +mana/int gear.

If the flux staff is out of reach for you, there's an easy camp in Erud's at level 16, the vampire bats. A necromancer bat spawns once in a while that always drops a 3 charge instant click lifetap wand. Can bind that to a hotkey and have an instant tag while hunting the cyclops.

both OoT and Sro AC were cancer last I checked into it and I would easily pay 5k to not participate in that shit show.

I've never had any problems with the SRo one. Just pop on for 5 minutes in the morning, if it happens to be close to 9pm game time, wait and see. Often the zone is empty in the morning. Got two rings that way, each over the course of a week and a grand total of maybe two hours invested.

Id save up 4k for boots (u will get em for that price). Recently quadded 12-51 and couldnt imagine it without the boots. Pots are a hassle. Dont wield flux staff, get a snowcone or a rod from HS.
U can quad before snare. Use flux staff to check distance. Remember to strafe. Lots of super cheap hp/mana gear to get along the way. Pull with throwing if u dont have flux staff.
I much rather camp AC in OoT than try get the 9pm in Sro...
Good luck lil wizard!

use a few 10 charge SoW pots to quad yourself up to porting level

/tell acrior, I have one or two I don't use (am shaman and gave up on my war alt)

you gotta be able to haul your ass close to cabilis/FoB though for I am a lizard

Face tank nuke spam works well until like 40 (for the 30s do SK gnolls/scrolls).

With an instant gcd refresher, like staff of t flux inventoried, you can down blues fast and get more meditating in than quad kiting allows. I found having a decent weapon often helped reduce the number of nukes needed/finish a mob off.

At lower levels with the right buffs you can even chain your PBAoEs for XP; just don't over pull!
