Currently rocking the PWC and trying to figure out if it's worth spending the money on a GFG. Right now I'm level 25, so I think my damage cap is only 40.

I would keep saving for regen BP. I am 32 right now with PWC and I find I face tank a lot less than I used to, but with Canni I wish I had better regen.

I do have a regen BP currently. I'm not sure when I would stop being able to face tank which is why I'm kinda unsure about the GFG.

You talking about Fungi tunic or Iksar BP? Or Fungi staff?

Fungi tunic.

Is the staff a cheap alternative for a Shaman or is the tunic the way to go?

The ratio is almost identical (once you factor in damage caps) so dps really isn't effected by upgrading PWC -> GFG. The only real effect is the higher delay on GFG allows you to cast between swings more easily, which might add up slightly over a longer fight. But otherwise there really isn't any reason to upgrade from a PWC until it starts proc'ing (L50). If you've got the money though go ahead. You can just sell it off again once you need the cash (buy spells/epic or whatever).

I believe the staff is a casted buff. It also slows you down like torp, so not as easy as worn version. They do stack though so can get double!

Shaman don't melee. I mean, they do, but a smaller and smaller percentage of their damage comes from melee the higher level they get.

You're level 26 with an (almost) 50k fungi, but you're worrying about a 2k difference in items, which is a little unusual. Usually people either are new and don't have a fungi at that level, or they're twinks and their main got them the fungi, in which case getting 2k more for a GFG should be trivial for that main character to acquire.

But if you do have limited funds (maybe you're new but someone gave you the fungi?) I would strongly recommend saving them. Buy spells, food, and water, and nothing else. When you hit 45 and can buy a JBB right away you'll thank me, because it will make a significant difference in your DPS ... unlike the difference any melee weapon is going to make.

Won the Fungi on my rogue but have very little liquid funds (like 900p). Thank you for the info jbb probably the way to go. Farming halflings so can start to save money for it!

My (fungi-having) shaman's level 46 and I still melee a lot, though. It's just way more mana efficient to slow and tank right now, though that might change at 50 with new dots and harder hitting enemies. Still though, 26-46 isn't an insignificant amount of leveling, so why not just buy a good weapon now (GFG is great but PWC will do) and sell it off later to pay for JBB?

I sold my PWC and bought a Blight at 30 for 800p. Cool stats and same look (as GFG). Melee dps took a big dip but I figured every hit in me was basically a mana-drain. Did a lot of dot rotting and nuking down. Took a swing while I tried to get another root off and hoped for a proc.

The Shaman class is a slow ramp. You just gotta grind thru the suck. Using a Jade 1-20 and a nice 2h 20-29 makes sense. Again if I had a COF and Fungi my game plan would be different but frankly with a moderate budget you don’t want to soak up damage.

Just make sure you can JBB at lvl 45 (unless Iksar). I swear my grind 45-52 was easier than 30 and 35 combined.

This is an excellent point, since items like the GFG are totally liquid. I think it's just a question of how much TunnelQuesting you want to do. Personally I'm not a huge fan of TunnelQuest, and the time it would take to buy/sell only gives you a slight increase in DPS overall.

But I'm sure someone could make some educated guesses about how much leveling time the GFG's slight increase in overall DPS will save between 25 and 45 vs. how much time it takes to buy and sell a GFG (and run from and then back to your leveling spot each time) ... I'm just too lazy. I'd imagine that the numbers are close enough that it just boils down to, how much do you hate the tunnel?

But if OP likes the tunnel a better weapon is probably going to be the best bang for his buck until the JBB. The only better use I can think of is maybe a SCHW (2k and probably adds less overall DPS than the GFG, but I'm too lazy to math) or AC/HP rings, both of which are super liquid. Normally I'd value even the slightest DPS increase over any amount of stats, but those rings are just such a good deal for the stats they give.

I hate TunnelQuest but found selling GFG pretty painless as long as you're okay with taking a 500p loss on the item. As in, you'll probably spend a day there.

The alternative is making a thread on the EC subforum, which will take longer but will allow you to set your own time wrt trading.

PWC is fine until 39, its barely a hundredth of a percent Dps difference until then (.714 PWC vs .72 GFG). If money is an issue I would say save up and look for a cheap fungi staff to go with your fungi, it'll be way more helpful than a PWC vs GFG while leveling.
