As this is the Project99 forum, I recommend Project99.

No idea what reborn is but here is my 2 copper

P99 has a great staff, and a healthy and for the vast majority of the players a great helpful community. It's code and how well it runs is great

The only downside is endgame or raiding on p99 has a "too healthy" community due to the extended timeline of p99 blue causing endgame raids to be highly competitive and often killed by huge numbers within minutes of spawning (yes there is just that many 60s) wanting raid pixels

Aside from that i think p99 is amazing

Reborn has a bunch of "Quality of life improvements" that people think will make the game more fun to play. It's kind of a joke to even compare reborn to p99, they are so different.

You either want to experience EQ how it was in 95% of its' glory on p99...

OR you want to 2-box, fast out of combat regen, fast mob-respawn, etc. on Reborn.

EQ Reborn just launched a few weeks ago.

I've heard it was a laggy and buggy mess atm.

P99 is clean and pristine with absolutely no problems or issues. Especially the people on the forums, all cool and normal.

Play

What

You

Want

Server is never in "need" of any class because lots of players on p99 have multiple toons so some of which just facilitate raid roles (like clerics and rogues)

Welcome.

There aren't many half elf warriors of Innoruuk.

Everything else we have in excess.

Personally I don't like the play style but an easy start is in the east commons area as there are plenty of people around to buff and interact with.

High quality bear pelts, bone chips and spiderling silks sell well to players. A 1/2 ratio weapon with a low delay is a good start for any class. They all begin with melee. Pay 40-50pp tops.

The red server is great if you need a nice quiet area to nap.

There's only like 9 people, so it's very peaceful

This.... Play what you want, how you want. Don't even ask for the public's advice. Just make a toon and don't look back!

A lot of folks here recommend doing a Druid as your first character, but it all depends on how much time and effort you're going to commit to playing.

Druids can essentially be leveled with little to no gear to 44 where you get your final 2 porting spells. You'll learn a lot of different game mechanics, acquire zone knowledge, etc along the way.

From there, you can decide to continue on w/ the druid if quadding / animal charm solo seems like an enjoyable path. Otherwise, most people spend time hanging out at all the popular spots advertising porting / buffs for money (in the form of a tip). You then use this money to fund your "main" character, typically a class that would have been tougher to level without a nice bankroll for basic weapons / armor / useful clickies / etc.

If you don't have the time nor tolerance to level multiple characters, its perfectly understandable. Just pick a class that matches best with your playstyle. I would only recommend staying away from warrior (unless you are 100% certain you are committed to making it to and playing at the end game here for a long time) and wizard (no one likes wizards, seriously, you won't enjoy it).
