Is it 5xlvl or is it capped at 200 at level 1 like a tradeksilll?

ALso, will I see skillups on mobs like a dark blue fire beetle?

I'd like to confirm I just hit begging (2) on a snek!

You can skill up on greens iirc, even some boats!

Mobs close to your level seem best targets to practice on.

Doesn't seem to skill up on mobs that are already aggrieved.

Critical fails are handy for pulling thru walls/floors/corners without line of sight on non taunt classes.

Begging (11) at lvl two, suspecting lvl x5+5 still not sure though!

Try not to die, not.
npc's will attack you on bad begging attempts.

I started playing EQ soon after it initially launched and have to admit, I can’t recall even once hitting the beg key skill.

Does it generate a significant amount of threat on a critical fail? Or just the +1 over highest on list like taunt- questionably useful for tanking characters?

It's not a significant skill, even for threat generation. Purely for flavor.

I have gotten 1p from it, but it's like 1 in 100 clicks. And only on the right npc. Mostly mobs and stuff don't give anything. Guards, and some named npcs will. On live, I got some plat in HHK from an NPC. IDK if there ever was a special table for begs, and if it was implemented on 99 the same way lol.

I don't think it's one of those things with substantial data, so it may just not do even that much here.

I had my first beg success at (15) skill from a decaying skeleton for 2cp and the skeleton begged me to live it alone!

Can confirm you can level begging on the kunark shuttles. Your success chance is 0% but you can get skillups.

In its initial iteration it could add aggro, but this was changed because cheating warriors.

Now all it does on a critical fail is add you to the mobs aggro list, with no modifier to hate.

DaP should charge for CR ports to incentivize begging skillups among the playerbase. Gotta naked beg for dat port moneh.

It's more for being a completionist than anything.

So far skill (25) at lvl 4, so I'm 99% sure its lvl x 5+5

I got murdered by my first NPC for failure today :( Fascists!

I've been working mine recently, as it happens. Currently in the 230's (wiki says 215 max, and 200 for cleric). Was going to ask Loramin to update it once I figure out what it caps at.

Still get crit fails (and agro) post 200, with an abysmal success rate. Most I've gotten so far was 2 coppers from Gornit.

At work so I don't have a more recent screenshot, but here's proof it goes above 215:

It's shite.

I have all my logs of my druid leveling it up to... 100 or so? I'll number crunch it but I think the success rate is 1 in 15 or so. And the skillup rate is worse than most skills.

If it's for "flavor", it's brussels sprouts flavor with extra sulphur with a soupçon of cod liver oil.

And shit.

It's a skill that the original "classic" devs said "fuck it" on early in the game and the coding was already there so they just left it in. (It's the only hypothesis that makes any sense at all.)

Should've made a haggle button for NPC sellers to lower their wacktacular prices....

yeah

we should also be able to marry npcs in game and have them follow us around and give us huggles back

No, nothing like that; but a haggle button could allow for those insane priced items to become more accessible after people sell their uber item_01 to vendor and want to buy it back for a semi-reasonable price. It's just a pipe dream though so .. smokem if ya gottem

I don't know. I guess it totally depends on the relationship we have and whether it's done in an awkward way or not.

Begging skill was put in to actually deterrent people begging for handouts and showed them that by being killed on a fail.
