In your opinion what pieces of gear are a must have? The pieces you think make your undeath(get it..? Truthfully I'm sorry and I'll stop) easier? The pieces you think every young lich should have on their check list to make your playing experience much better.

While on the subject, what's your favorite solo spots of any given level?

Pre-nerf COS is nice, but the only real must-have for me is any clicky to reset GCD. Jboots works outside, goblin earring works everywhere.

Solo spots - anywhere with undead, really, for nukes and charm. Kurns and Lower Guk (dead side) are my two favorite necro solo spots, though.

On a separate note, make sure you get Hungry Earth, Rest the Dead, and Harmshield. Those are crucial in undead dungeon charming.

Words of Darkness for your Global Spell Cooldown Reset. Easy quest, it works indoors and outdoors, saves you a spell slot until mid levels, and even after you get higher level lich spells it still works. It works a lot better than pre-nerf CoS as a GCD reset because it won't break charmed pets / dismiss your summoned pet. Hell it's even useful when raiding as an insta click buff (assuming you keep lich in a top slot), not that you should really be in range of dispelling dragons...

As far as ultimate OP "must have" items: Pre-nerf CoS, VP staff + Holgresh Beads, VP DMF robe, velious pants for mana/spellslot-free pet haste, velious boots for spellslot-free IVU, Staff of the Dreaded Gaze, Pre-nerf Ornate Velium Pendant, Velk Bracer, Zland Heart, 10th Ring for regen.

Totally forgot about Words of Darkness. Great item if you don't have the money to buy another clicky.

Taking notes. The no drop raid items will be out of my grasp for a long time until I buy loot rights.

Prenerf CoS is great if you can afford it while leveling. Outside of that, jboots help a lot.

Stalking Probes and root nets are a fun toy for pulling certain places later on. Kael, DN, some of the pulls in HS and seb. They single out some pulls that would otherwise be much riskier.

Why does a necro need J-boots? Sure, it's nice, but SoW potions suffice during long travel times when you can't get a SoW. All soloing methods basically require the necro to stand still.

pre-nerf cos, jboots and lots of weight reduction bags for selling any two-handed swords or any fine steel weapons from guards.

favorite solo spots Kurns Tower (teen), Kaesora, oot (40's range), CoM Felwithe (low 50's) late 40's)

Considering a majority of the items listed here are either raids drops, 20k+ or out of grasp for the casual person jboots are easily obtainable, junk buff, reset global cooldown, help to travel, fear kite and not rely on consumables.

Personally for the price I don’t believe there are many other better bang for buck purchases.

Lastly, when I level a necro from roughly 1-51 I don’t normally root rot until I get splurt.

All soloing methods definitely do not require you to stand still and is pretty poor advice to any Necro getting started. At the end of the day, if something goes wrong, being faster than whatever's chasing you is what's most important. Adds are gonna add, FD is going to fail, and sometimes you just need to run.

SoW potions are a fine budget item, but eventually you'll want jboots. SoW runs out at inopportune times and can be dispelled. Jboots are great for resetting GCD, take up 1 spot in your inventory, and are a great bang for your buck. There's not a class out there that can't make use of jboots (maybe not Druid, but jboots are an easy farm for a GCD clicky).

Once you get some starter gear, jboots and pre-nerf CoS should be the first thing you buy, then as many tinker bags as you can carry. Necros make plat at a ridiculous rate, there's no reason not to spoil yourself.

My must have list:
2 velium vapor vials
Leatherfoot raider cap
2 stalking probes
Words of darkness
jboots
pre-nerf CoS
Outpost Hammer
7 tinker bags
