Hey everyone,
Last week my wife and I we're reminiscing about our old EQ days downstairs with our daughter. I know she heard the stories multiple times but hey none of you in the community have. :)
My wife and I met playing this game 20 years ago. After a long friendship we did that whole internet dating deal. Chatted on video etc and BAM I move down a few years later, got married and have two wonderful kids all because of this game.
Its rather interesting if you think about it really. We could have never met had this game not existed.
I watched just a few videos and decided after all these years I was going to dust off EQ. I started installing it and instantly my wife got all excited. Whats neat is my daughter who is turning 15 soon really wants to give it a try even if she is of the opinion the graphics suck haha. Kids these days never knew the struggles and just how cool these graphics were all those years ago.
I very much looking forward to meeting new peeps and getting to experience the ride once again but this time with my daughter as well! I just hope she enjoys it enough to see some really cool raiding and end game stuff.
Anyways my main is Keljorn which was my name all those years ago on Bertox. I have him to level 18 right now. So far I must say in my week long experience playing here the people are great! Everyone I have met has been super fun to group with and very helpful just giving buffs out without even being asked. I even had some random druid run up and give me split Paw gloves and some mask then buff and run off. I'm super stoked I took the jump and reinstalled.
To future adventures!

Welcome! I met my now-wife through online gaming, too. Weird how that works!
Just a tip about you and your family playing - if you wanna connect two (or more) accounts simultaneously through one IP (so, if you and your wife and/or daughter wanna play in the same house at the same time), you need to get an IP exception, and that can take anywhere from a day to a couple weeks to possibly longer, so it's a good idea to ask ahead of time.. once you've got the accounts set up, etc.
More info about that here (https://www.project1999.com/forums/announcement.php?f=25).
Welcome mate! Lovely story, sounds like you have a very storied past with EQ!
Awesome that you've got a little trio there, tons of fun opportunities.

I've avoided my future would-be wife by playing this game.
Somewhere out there she's thinking and wishing that I wouldn't be so autistic and put the elf sim down.
....never.

you need to get an IP exception
It is pretty weird and a blessing as well. =)
We filed it a week ago. We got all jazzed up and tried to play right away and found out about needing the exemption as only one of us could be connected. We're still patiently waiting. In the mean time have been playing together on another server just messing around together until the exemption comes though. I'm not a big fan of the server as the experience comes way to fast and the item drops are a bit ridiculous and over powered early on. My daughter doesn't know any better so at least shes having fun with it so far with her dark elf SK.

Nah, she wouldn't be your future wife then. You have to find a woman who will cook lasagne (or at least heat up a frozen Amy's lasagna ... that shit is delicious) for you while you play an elf-sim.
Or get one who will play with you ... but then you don't get the lasagne :(

Hello there! I am the wife who is very much still looking forward to playing the game that met to meeting my husband Gregor. He spoke of the reminiscing that we did before he decided to look into installing again..fast forward a bit and he is playing the game; asking for directions through zones! LOL
I am still hoping to start my character soon. I have her created, but haven't played her yet. Still awaiting the petition for our IP; hopefully soon.
I look forward to meeting some of you in game one day. =)

You know, even without the exemption, you can still play. You just can't both be logged in at the same time. So kick him off, and load up that enchanter!

What a wonderful story! I hope you're enjoying your time on your return trip to Norrath! If you ever see me running around the world and need a bard, or could use a few items to help get you started, feel free to shoot me a tell. I think I've got a couple +3 wis earrings sitting in my bank, being of no use to anyone, that you're more than welcome to.

Wow what an amazing tale to tell! Much love to you man from the Central American Isthmus of Panama all the way there to Alaska! :) I can feel the breezes already!
Very glad you decided to come here to P99!!! I sincerely wish you the best and hope you can reminisce great adventures and make new ones here .
I am usually on Euridun, and if you need a port holler up! I will gladly port you and your family around and buff you a bit. been here for about 3 months now and it has been a blast! Community is super helpful and very friendly!
Tons of tales of random strangers just helping me get here or there, helping with spells or small pieces of gear or just nice chats and company!
Some drama usually at the end, where people get into raiding, but that is to be expected and "classic" haha, but overall my experience here has been a BLAST!:D So you will surely have the same or perhaps even better!
Much hugs and welcome here man. Dont be a stranger, Post up here, say hi, talk to others, have Fun and go explore Norrath Fellow Adventurer Yay!
Remember to visite the P99 wiki too! It heeeeeeeeeeelps immensely

So far the experience has been great! My wife is still waiting on the ip exemption request we put in three weeks ago. Once it goes though I'm going to be extremely excited to be able to relive the great fun eq has to offer by her side once again. Until them I'm going to keep leveling my druid so we can get a bit of coin together for our mains. I plan on playing a mage for the very first time. Shes going to stay with her chanter Kylala.
Yesterday was her day off from work. She was so hopeful the exemption would go though. When it didnt I goated her into playing alone. I lined up a newby to help me trade some plat to her and gave him for his trouble as well. She got some cloth armor, some bags and a new dagger then got to level 2 before logging out. She just doesn't want to play without me lol!
Eventually though we will get to play together here. We tried playing on another server together but the population is so low and the progression is way to fast so we dont like it much other than getting to play together. Someday though the fine GMS on this server will come though and make our day! =)
