The subject items were GM awards. I've been trying to research them and make a bug post in hopes they can be handed out in future GM events (besides just rubicite and stuff like that).

Firstly, the staff is ridiculous fashionQuest, would be best in our era by far. Check out these picks:

I should mention that I think at least the first pic is legit due to the name, apparently there was some glitches for a while where regular torches showed as a Staff of the Gathering graphic.

Next, it seems like there originally is only a single item of these on each server from the Gathering event in Lesser Faydark (Fironia Vie thing, unicorn got corrupted by CT, etc). Those items had self-buff C2 for casters, and some kind of proc for melee (not sure if Call of the Predator was it, that may have been a later upgrade).

Developer comment on the self-buff Clarity 2 here:
https://web.archive.org/web/20010822124957/http://eqvault.ign.com:80/archive/arc9.shtml
There are perhaps three items in the game that have the ability to cast Clarity II on their wielder (and only on the wielder). When I say three, I mean three total, across all the servers. These are, in fact, artifacts given out at two of the gatherings.

However, future fan faire and GM events gave out these items but had the proc / buff portion removed.

All I've found are 2 items, but perhaps there were more:
Staff of the Gathering (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=4710)
Master Sword of the Gathering (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=49829)

The melee ratio is pretty nice on the Master Sword of the Gathering (14/22), it seems the stats were indeed 14/22 as confirmed in the comments on the staff page, but were maybe +7 str/sta instead of +14 str/sta.

I've hit a bit of a wall on finding more info. Any other researchers interested in helping out? Would love to see these as occassional rare items across Norrath!

These artifacts existed pre luclin too. I knew the wizard with scepter on Nameless.

I remember a shield for clerics too, but I don't remember the name.

Look for the event winner on your server for "Event: Al`Kabor Propylon of the Nexus"

I might shed some light on these...
Staff of the Gathering was a prop demo or the nerfed version, same thing with Sword of the Gathering with no stats. However, there were 2 versions of Staff of the Gathering. While both had the effects removed, one was a plain 10/35 while the other was 16/35 with +5 int & wis. (still retaining the fashion look)

Master Staff of the Gathering was a plain 16/35 with no stats but the effect 'Gathering of the Mind' which was essentially Clarity II clickable @ level 1. Sword of the Gathering was 7/22 with +7 str & sta and it's counterpart Master Sword of the Gathering was 14/22 with +15 str & sta with the effect 'Call of the Predator' which increased your attack rating by 40.

Also there was a monk only weapon for this as well called War Staff of the Gathering. It had the same graphics as Staff of the Gathering but strangely never a Master version of it nor any information on this ever being handed out.

I will need to look into that more but I think you are correct, I had thought the FV / Cazic event was referred to as 'The Gathering' in Lesser Faydark, but if it was truly 'real life fan faire gatherings' then perhaps they should not be used here (unsure if P99 would ever do an event like this). Most of the comments say it was given out at fan faire events. In the end they were items that did exist in the timeline, so not sure if the powers that be would be interested in making them a rare occurrence here.

Excellent info! Exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for kind sir! I did find the monk item, as well as the other items. So full list would be:

War Staff of the Gathering
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=115194

Staff of the Gathering:
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=4710

Master Staff of the Gathering:
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=58130

Sword of the Gathering:
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=4711

Master Sword of the Gathering:
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=49829

You make mention that the regular sword of the gathering was only 7/22, but the in era comments on that link show people saying it was better ratio than the warrior epic (which is 14/24), so I believe they were left at 14/22?

There is a description of the sword there as follows:
This weapon is very very beautiful. Take a CLS remove the red writing make it black. Make the jagged edgeds Long spikes on the top of the hilt and make them smaller as it goes up. I can't even describe it. It is VERY pretty i seen a guy with one of these on the seventh hamme rtoday and about $hit myself lol

Someone posted a link to the image but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Should be close to summarizing for a bug report and hopefully implement for GM event items (albeit real rare)
