spell is supposed to give hp regen, but there is no difference having the buff or not. hp regens 1 while standing and 3 when sitting. Tested this with and without buff.

Is this supposed to be live now or just on the 25th?

you telling me Phantom chain doesnt provide regen in classic? If so, then this spell seems kinda worthless for mage.. only buffs ac by a tiny amount

The new spell file is in so I was assuming they just forgot mage regen.

Here is the quote from the patch history.

April 10, 2000

The Magicians Phantom Armor series now grants HP regeneration.

Can't remember the exact details but one of the following happened.

Either the spells themselves were not classic so the devs disabled the regen on them instead of removing the spells.
Or, they just nerfed the regen because the spells were broken on live for a very long time.

Either way the regen was disabled on this server on purpose.

The regen was not a component in Classic, only the AC. The regen was added. Due to the fact of Breeze and other Kunark spells being out, it was a reasonable assumption to test Phantom Armor again and to ask if they had meant to add the regen or not with the last patch.

I assumed that the regen component was intended but not implemented till the patch simply because of how useless the spell was and required a regent.

But like I said my memory on the details was fuzy so are probably right on their reasoning back in the day.

It isn't giving regen? I sure thought I was getting HP from it both before and after the patch. If not, then the placebo effect is very real even in game...

Either way if it was patched in April 2000, that's just over a year of eq being live.

So if they deem to add this change, enough time has passed to follow a classic enough time line.

I experienced that same placebo effect, but its more than that - what happens is your hp goes up like it did have the regen then ticks back.

Because the client was meant to handle a portion of the server load, the client may update your health as giving you the regen bonus (as per the client's timeline) until the server syncs and brings it back down.

I mentioned this over a year ago. I suppose if the proper amount of time has passed mages are now due for some regen!

Wuwu!

The EverQuest strategy guide of the Ruins of Kunark has a description of the phantom spell line having the regen. I would guess that we would get the upgrade when Kunark goes live on the 25th.

Pretty sure the Prima guides, while very useful as a base (and I spent many, many hours with mine), are not considered authorities on the spells of the time, containing many mistakes to start and only gets more inaccurate as patches continue.

Is this actually resolved? I don't seem to get any regen from Phantom Plate.

Not yet.

This means you shouldn't get any right now.

Which you Posted 3/24; Kunark went live 3/25. In other words, I wasn't sure whether you were saying "not yet" because Kunark was going live in a day, or "not yet" because there is some other time period I don't know about :)

Bump for clarification. The regen is in effect since Kunark is now live or the regen will be later added?

Thanks
