Mage - fun race to play...?

Hello!

I am contemplating adding a Mage to my small army of characters. Looking over the available races for a Mage, currently I have other characters that were rolled with each and every possible race. So whatever race I decide to take would be a subtle repeat of my past gaming experiences (in the newbie yards and nearby zones).

I am looking for suggestions of which race to choose based upon your experiences as a Mage. Perhaps one race has some interesting quests to discover that would make this particular Mage stand out. At the same time, I am not looking for a quick and easy path either - I like a challenge. But also, I want to have some fun utilizing that race with the Mage. And short of the casual vendor loot a passing player might pass off, I have no intentions of twinking this character.

Sounds like you want to roll a gnome, friend.

But seriously, steamfont is a great newbie area and you can make it as challenging as you want. Gnomes are also the best mages because the elementals are so much bigger than you. No one is afraid of a high elf with a tiny fire pet behind them

Gnomes have the best racial power out of all Mage races: see through walls. They also get tinkering which is ... something.

There's literally no reason to not be a gnome as a mage.

DEs look badass but then don't pick mage as a class.

If you want to "stand out" do some /who all count magician <race> x5 and pick lowest count! I'm pretty sure that would be humans. Maybe not tho.

Right now I got:

13 gnomes
9 dark elves
7 high elves
5 humans
3 erudites

would be worth doing plural times, but i'm pretty sure this is actually pretty accurate hehe.

so if you wanna go usual magician gnomes and elves like everyone.
if you wanna stand out a bit pick a blindie. also, pick a religion.
Erudite Magician of Prexus who only wants to kill on the beach?
Human Magician of Erollisi Marr who is only trying to have sex with his pets?
Your pick! Go Wild!

If you don't care on race. Go high elf, tunare. A nice belt to quest out of PoGrowth. Outside of that quest, race/religion doesn't matter to much.
