So while I'm not levelling my monk I am going to level a paladin since they seem rare on this server. I won't be twinking him but I might get him a full set of bronze armor to start with. What is a good race when it comes paladins. I was thinking a human would be a great choice.

Dwarves have barrel roll dude.....

Dark elf master race. If not that - dwarves have best starting stats and extra mr. High elves are weak but are smart and good looking ( for pacify) . Humans are bland. Erudites are the worst. Pick tunare as deity for easy paladin weapon quest in plane of growth

And half-elves nobody even remembers they can paladin! O_ô

But for once I have to agree with skarlorn, barrel roll is probably your best racial attribute you can go for on a paladin :) work on that CHA at some point to land some Lulls without aggroing tho ^^/

So I take it I should stay away from crusty armor as a paladin

Crusty is fine. Just don't be the expecting a lot of single pulls if you're the puller :)

What's a good armor set I could work towards after bronze armor?

Crusty is fine. Super cheap If that's what you're aiming for

Gear will start being more dependent in your high 30s 40s anyhow

I decided I will make a high elf paladin. Good starting wisdom charisma isn't bad. I can do a quest for a necklace can root as well as well. I would make a halfling paladin if I could skarlorn. Sadly p99 will never have that option.

I have never played a tank type class so I will have a lot to learn.

Great choice! Make sure to put your points into Sta and maybe.. Str?? lol. Sta is most important though =)

Your cha should be good starting, wisdom good starting, Sta should be low and str low. The reason why you should put points into STA is because -> Late game, theres only 1 sta buff for like what.. 50? But theres two Str/Dex buffs :) Str/dex/ Focus to help cap stats at 255.

Starting high elf strength is 65 on a paladin, a full set of small bronze plate weighs 64.7 lbs. If you want to carry anything else you are encumbered. I would suggest 10-15 points of your 20 into str if you would like to not have to deal with encumbrance issues constantly. Str gear is plentiful & cheap, weight reduction bags typically are not, but if you are starting from scratch the ability to equip & carry more things before having to sell is the biggest benefit you can give yourself.

Stamina for more HP is certainly something to aim for on any character especially tanks, but the return is trivial even at level cap compared to most cheap +hp gear early/mid level.

Yep and this is why I've never put a single starting stat point on any of my characters (even warrior) into stamina. I've never regretted that decision, even once level 60.

What up bud?

Some armor I always figured I'd buy for a hybrid is Sebilite Scale. Pretty cheap with really good all around stats without debuffing charisma.

To each his own. *shrug* on a paladin i think putting charisma would be just as useful as putting all str if not more useful.. At least then you can have a higher chance to single pull instead of failing and pulling more then 1 mob and dying.. At least you can carry 2 more fine steel weapons though right?

Did all Stamina on my High Elf Paladin and I never regretted it, but I also was twinkled and had tink bags at level 1, so never really had weight issues. I think with how cheap gear is on this server its not a bad idea to avoid going strength in favor of wisdom though. You won’t be doing a ton of raid tanking where 200 extra HP is going to make or break you and 20 wisdom can give an 875hp return

A lot of you guys are really stupid. STA is the only stat you should put your points into. There is no way you wont be capping all your other melee stats through buffs.

Also you play on blue, why are you bothering to play a paladin?

Every 60 paladin wishes they had a bigger mana pool, even when it's as big as it's going to get. Your 20 stam will give you 200 HP, but the same 20 wis is going to give you way more survivability and utility than that.

Yeah Malory is right, you start wanting more str, then wanting more sta, then finally wanting more wisdom. Depends how far you go in the game.
