Spirocs do not start KoS in TD. IIRC they are either indiff or apprehensive.

Oowomp is not on Venril Sathir faction. Oowomp is used by Iksars for the first part of their whistling fists quest and yes this part was functional during kunark. Oowomp did assist the other ogres but they didn't assist him iirc.

There should be a mob in the hut behind Oowomp

Most importantly these mobs are missing:

Capt. Crag was Level 30ish (Blue @ 37/Lblue @ 42)
Squally was level 24-25 (LBlue at 37)
First Mate Morgan was level 24-25 (LBlue at 37)
Chartsman Tallbones was level 24-25 (LBlue at 37)

They were removed shortly after Kunark launched but dropped some kick ass shit.

Details on these mobs are listed in the threads for the items.

Looks like this is currently based on race/class. Anyone have more information about how 'SpirocsofTimorous' should regard players?

Oowomp is not on Venril Sathir faction.Fixed, he's now indifferent.

The rest of this seemed to happen in 2002 (post-classic), so I didn't add any of it. If anyone has additional research/evidence, post it up.

The FRSS did drop here at one point in time, when there were undead Pirate camps here. The mob that I looted one of them from was a named large skeleton, First Mate Morgan. He and two other skeletons(undead sailors or some such name)would all pop at one spot.
Alas, the undead pirates no longer seem to appear there, this seems to be one of Verants experiment at temporary monster spawns. Should the pirate camps reappear sometime rest assured they will be camped with lineups of 3-4 people at at a time waiting.
The good thing is that the FRSS is LORE and once a person got one they would yield the camp. Also the pop time on Morgan or a undead sailor placeholder was only about 8 minutes with the FRSS a common drop on him(not always but every 3 or so) so the average camp time per person was only 15-25 minutes to get one.

Lastly let me say that compared to FBSS or silver chitin handwraps that FRSS is not the best haste item in the world but for a monk in his lower levels who cannot obtain better it is better than no haste at all. Best estimates seem to place it at 14% haste, some have claimed more, others less, but its still haste.

Still looking for more evidence.

Timorous Deep: Take the raft from Oasis to an island and head east. There will be an aviak city, identical to the one in SK. The Spirocs look like mccaws. Quad like mad. They have faction and you will go KoS almost immediately. Be careful, some are rogues and backstab for 300 dmg. They green out at 52-53.

Found this quote here:

http://eqdiary.tripod.com/hunting.html

Still looking.

Edit - Yes i think you read the title correctly, as soon as you have killed enough of them you will be kos to them, I have found that you can quite easily start at the bottom and run all the way up collecting ALL the spirocs' (about 18-25 of them all together).. Don't bother with 'Bonds of Force', just make sure you at least have either your JBoots, SOW potions or a SOW caster nearby, run round the edge of the island and just keep constantly casting 'Circle of Force', these things are weak, and at 43 at the time I was getting about 25% experience per pull, (does take about 30 mins to kill them all, and because you need to wait till they are out of range from you, by the time you have ran far enough away from them to cast again, you have just made your mana back.

and........ after all that you will find you have about 2% mana left so go sit down and laugh your ass off at the easiest XP you ever made.

Witnesses at this act of what seems like stupidity has been witnessed in awe by lvl 60 characters.

BTW i wouldnt recommend ANY other class other than wizards doing this, or wizards with any less than 255 INT and KEI..

This is a comment on A Spiroc Lightfoot page in Illia's EQ beastiary. I feel that the Spirocs of Timorous do not start out KoS to players. But I have yet to find out what their faction starts out as (Apprehensive, Dubious, etc.)

Disco.

Timorous deep and the spirocs, are found by taking the barge from Oasis to ogre island in TD. On one side of the island just past the ogres, there are the spirocs. At first they will be apprehensive to you, but after you kill a few you will slowly turn kos so at least you get a few pulls to wet your feet before you start getting the possibility of adds.

If you were on The Nameless I would show you how to pull the village. It is very simple even when you get an add (most of the time the most you would get at one time is two). I have had 3-4 all dotd and fear walking before so adds are not an issue if you are good at fear kiting.
As in all kiting endevours however, you must prepare for the worst case senario's and have FD up and be able to run fast - jboots, sow potion, horse, run3.

The Staff of the Dreaded gaze is possibly the most useful necro item in the game pre level 60 a necro can own. I am not sure however the right click effect level for you. I think that 30 is a tad low.. not sure. I would check on it's level. Anyhow, it is a right click invoke fear staff with stats. Infinite charges.. It is a rare drop from Xalgoz in kaesora. They sell in the bazaar anywhere from 6k to 15k on The Nameless server. I am almost 64 (3 blue to go), and I still would NEVER sell mine. It is extremely rare to see one in the bazaar because necros wont part with it even in the upper levels when they dont use it that much anymore.

Think of it this way, if you had your epic, and this staff, you could kite forever with not even liching or casting ONE other spell. Just snare with epic, fear them with Dreaded gaze staff, and sick pet on them.. as the mob moves and you move, whenever you stop just recast fear again.. lol.. Manaless experience.

What I find most amusing about this staff is how few of the high level necros have even heard of it.. IMO it is about as priceless to own as the staff of temp flux is to a wizard (not really used to lower resists but to pull with on the run).

First real comfirmation that they start apprehensive I have found.

The faction.. is what needs researching.

The npc/drops you quoted are 2002 era, as are the posts.

I'll try and run a few fresh toons there later today on Al'kabor and /con them. Have to wait on boats for each one, so.. might only get a few baseline combos.

Iksar Necromancer of Cazic Thule:

A spiroc Proven (and all other Spirocs in TD): Dubious

High Elf Paladin of Tunare:

A spiroc Proven (and all other Spirocs I saw in TD): Dubious

Human Warror Agnostic:

Ogre Raider = apprehensive (these guys were KOS to the above necro and paladin)
The Great Oowoomp = dubious (this guy was indifferent to the above necro and paladin)
A Spiroc Proven = dubious

Despite being Dubious to the Great Oowoomp, the human warrior could still trigger all the quest phrases from him all the way to where he tells you what to go gather for him.

Imply what you will.

Quick question:

The skeleton that the Great Oowomp summons, does anyone know if it is supposed to be on a faction? Perhaps Swiftclaws? (I read something about a non-Iksar getting attacked by it)

Answered my own questions. Oowomp regards others, depending on race, differently but never kos. His skeletons have no faction and are indifferent to all.

Fixed, pending update.

Move to resolved.
