Hello I recently found out about p99 and having a blast but...
I made a mage and didn't really care for the passive play-style and I hated the character name so I deleted it. I'm currently looking into making a bard they seem to be a lot more active in their role at least when pulling and switching songs and stuff.

First I would like to say that the wiki has been extremely helpful in helping me get back into the swing of things (even though I have no characters on my account currently) with my mage when I played it up to around level 20.

I would also like to add that I had played the game originally on live around the time the game was live with Everquest Trillogy but I was only 13 or so back then.

My questions are...

1) How do you guys think of names? I have been at the character naming screen for almost 2 whole days. Tried hundreds of names.. all taken. I even tried some off the wall stuff, nothing... I tried name generators and everything I dunno... I'm one of those people who if I don't like my name I wont like my character. (one of the main reasons I deleted my 20 mage)

2) A little intimidated by the wiki saying bards need to have backpacks full of different sets of gear for each situation be it puller, dpser, or off tank (maybe main tank). I could barely carry anything on my mage, how do bards carry all this gear without slowing to a crawl? I noticed weight reduction bags are super pricey and are lvl 45+ to drop.

3) Is pulling using lulls, mez, charms, complicated? I cant seem to find a guide on it. Is there a good low level place to practice? Or does it pretty self explanatory once you get the spells to do so?

I'm not a bard but I'll try my best to help.

1) I usually recycle the same names I've been using for years. If that doesnt work I start using the random generator and hope it inspires me, sometimes I'll just change a few letters here and there to better fit my style. Worst case scenario I go to google and use fantasy generators and change letters appropriately.

2) I wouldn't take that too serious, especially as a new player you can't be expected to have a bunch of armor sets. Even level 60 bards I know pretty much have one set and maybe swap out a few items here and there (not counting instruments of course).

3) As a bard you won't be pulling very often for groups, usually that's designated to a monk or sometimes even a ranger if it's outdoors. Most people want their bard with the group singing mana regen instead of running off pulling. If you do find yourself pulling you'll probably exclusively use lull to pull and charm if you get an add or mez if multiple adds.

I'll share my naming system: Work with simple syllables. JAH, RAY, SEK, TAL, XAR, NIK.

I've found in most online games your name will be shortened to the first syllable anyway. Someone named "Wyzenarkle" will be referred to as "Wyz" or "Wyzen" and almost never fully typed out - so focus primarily on that first syllable.

I generally keep my names to two syllables whenever possible.

To further craft a name, think about what kind of character you're playing. Is "Janierys" the name of a blood thirsty ogre, or a high elf priestess? What about "Kredjok"? Is "Skalf" more a noble Paladin or a tricksy Rogue?

So some examples with this system:
Ogre Warrior: Dregul, Girtol, Oxwum, Kregut
Wood Elf Ranger: Selwyn, Kaesin, Neyril, Fenvri
Iksar Necromancer: Xelvryn, Pexgris, Nazik, Akryt
Human Rogue: Ravlin, Marse, Koti, Prak

Sometimes you'll enjoy two sounds "JAH" and "ROO", but hate how it looks typed out "Jahroo" so you need to finesse it into an alternate spelling like "Jharu".

What's your character's race, class, religion, and "back story"? I'm sure I can help you come up with some fun names.

My questions are...

1) How do you guys think of names? steal names from NPC toss a twist to them

2) you can be a naked bard and do just fine, just need drums for selos
only gear you will need later is MR gear

3) Is pulling using lulls, mez, charms, complicated? I cant seem to find a guide on it. Is there a good low level place to practice?
