Hello!
I am level 30 wizard and attempting to quad. I have 194 int and Staff of Temperate Flux. I am looking for advice from more experienced wizards. Here are my issues.
What do I do when I get a resist on my snare? It happens all the dam time! I get 3 snared but one resists. Then I hafta waste mana getting him snared. Round them all up try to resnare them all and that takes a lot of mana. I go oom and cant finish the quad. As of now I just zone if my first snare gets resisted.
Is it normal to re apply my snare in a quad? The first snare usually fades before I can quad them all down. And if I get a resist on my second snare it really messes things up!
Right now Im trying to quad gnolls in SK. Maybe they have a high resist rate or something. If anyone has suggestions for level 30 that would be great.
Also if anyone has any extra int gear I have 300 plat to spend. I still need a waist, legs, hands, cape and shoulders. They are all empty slots.
Any advice would be great!
Thanks!

Quadding gnolls at 30 is definitely going to be rough, I think these are more for 32+ and after the 34 AoE much more efficient. Honestly even though you have the first snare spell, that doesnt mean you have to use it.
Make use of SoW buffs from others when you can, and strafe while running for that little extra. Circle of Force at 34 makes things better, and levels is the best thing you can do about resists. Always quad the lowest blues of your level if you can handle it. At 30 if I am not mistaken, level 22-29 mobs are blue range.
I think I quadded maybe Brutes out in Warsilisks woods around near the Dalnir caves, perhaps after that giant skeletons in RM near Lake Rathe zone if I recall.

Some solid advice Kaezyr. When I was leveling the wizard a little rule I set for myself was to quad things roughly 80% of your level. So at 30 that would be around 24. Might have to use the wiki to look up levels of mobs. If you are unsure about a certain target for quadding you can always just pull one, and nuke it down with your quad spell, throw in 2 snares as well to see if you have the mana to kill 4 of them. Is a much safer way to initially test out mobs.

What race? Qeynos there is a repeatable quest for the lore scrolls the gnolls drop. Gem Inlaid Quest but you don't complete it. It gave more exp than killing the gnolls. You bind in Qeynos then port back.

Thanks for the advice!
Not choosing lower level mobs was my problem. I tried a few pulls in Giant Fort in WW and did really good. Way less resists. I still get a few resists but not bad at all. Problem is its pretty camped and people got pretty butt hurt. And I didnt even pull 4, just 2 to test it out and people got all mad lol.
I looked for brutes like you said but I didnt find very many. They seem to be spread all over. Maybe Im in the wrong spot.
Ive been looking all over today trying to find a good spot for level 30. I would like to find a spot that will get me to 34. I might try gnolls at 34.
I was just killing single target but its pretty slow. But its really easy and safer with my new snare.
Even if I could find a spot with 2 or 3 mobs to aoe down that would be fine for me.
Any other ideas on a good quad spot?
Thanks again!

I am a giant forehead Eurdite! Yeah I sold my scrolls. I really need the plat to get my empty gear slots filled. Id like to be over 200 int. Almost there!

If you venture over to Swamp of No Hope, head into the tunnel that leads to Trakanon's Teeth.
There are, iirc, 9 iksar exils in that tunnel, all level 23. One group of 3, and another group of 6.
You would absolutely need levitate and would probably have to pull the 3 out of the tunnel to flat ground, but that is a great spot that Ive leveled both a ranger and druid there.
I think they turn light blue at 31 but its solid consistent exp up to 32 or 33, pretty good loot as well.

Check out Rathe Mountains, go to the Lake Rathe zone line and pull the Giant Skeletons, you shouldnt have problems pulling up to 4 if you want, you get old world mob HP, but granted non-fleeing mobs are not very ideal.
In Warsiliks Woods (http://wiki.project1999.com/Warsilk_woods) it is the northwest part of the zone (A on the map) and you have to find the caves pull the brutes some in groups of 2-3, and possibly a roamer or two inside the caves. Pull them out of the caves and quad near the cliff/coast iirc. Watch out for the occasional roaming giant that paths nearby though.
Do keep in mind though, I had Jboots at this level and never snared each mob individually to group them. Mana may be tighter if you have to do that. Recommend testing 1 mob with 4 casts of snare and maybe even a 5th and enough quad nukes to take it down.

Would you consider that perhaps you would have more mana if you levelled with the scrolls instead of selling them?
With more levels you could also kill more effectively and earn more loot too.

Good point! When I quad the gnolls in a few levels Ill turn in the scrolls if I get them.
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions! Ill go check them out today.
I went over to Rathe Mountains by the zone line to Rathe Lake and I could only find one Giant Skeleton. I ran all over looking. Ehhh who knows!
I didnt look inside the cave in WW! Ill go back and have a gander.
I would love Jboots. I need to start saving up. Its just hard as I spend a lot on spells and trying to get the rest of my empty slots filled. I would also like to get a hold of that Solist's Icy Wand as well. It looks great for finishing of a low HP mob.
Ok gonna go check out the spots that were suggested.
Thanks again everyone!

The Brutes Caves in WW near Dalnir are super awesome level 25-30. I think I might have pushed my luck and did 30-31 there as well, but realistically 30 is where you need to leave... so I am not sure about quadding them at 31 to get to 34, you might be disappointed.
My wizard is "stuck" at 31 as well hehe.
She is parked in SK spires killing gnolls, camped in South Qeynos where I gate back and then beg for a wolf form lol (Dark Elf Wizard ;)). That is not going very well. I think I'd need 34 as well to renew interest in that toon ;A;

For the near future, I did The Overthere on a Wizard I inherited from Level 34-40 and it was fantastic exp. Was my first time ever quadding so I would consider this a great place to learn.

Pretty much this, I spent all of 32-42 in The Overthere. After that I went to Lake of Ill omen Bloodgills/DL/GD giants(not so much exp, faction bonus) as they were available.
I checked some old logs and I basically quadded dwarves/sisters around the sister isle at 29/30, then at 31 I found Giant Skeletons in RM really easy to quad (maybe closer to the gypsy camp). Like I mentioned 32 through 42 was OT.

One of the things I do when I am quadding is to make sure I'm bound (usually in zone) but more than 10 second run from the place I am quadding.
I have jboots, so when the snare fails, or i start running low on mana and wont be able to finish the kill, I gate (instant escape) and camp out to drop agro. Then I log back in, med up and repeat.
I loved the pirates on the cliff in FV, click with staff of temperate flux, run round in wide circles until they are grouped, drop snare and then AoE them. If I grab the wrong mobs, or i looked like I was in trouble, I'd gate back to near the guards and camp.
Helps when I accidentally snared the fairy guys as well

30-34 just solo gnolls, or group in mistmoore. from 34-40 there is nothing faster than quadding guards in north karana. you can pull the 2 on the bridge with staff of temperate flux from the side of the bridge, then run to the guard tower and collect those 2 guards. circle kite them to group them up, snare, nuke them down, then go kill the 1 wandering guard by the wizard spires. sit by the tree to the right of the bridge and med up (aka afk for 8 minutes or whatever the respawn timer is)
Will this lower my faction? I would hate to have bad faction with any major city.
I have looked all over Rathe Mountains for the giant skeletons and I cant find any. Well I found 2 near #25 on the map but they are surrounded by a bunch of green mobs that pull with them. I didn't see any by the Lake Rathe zone line. A bunch of cyclops but no skeletons.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I will keep looking lol. Sounds like my options really open up at 34.

I know you're not looking for general wizard advice, but when grouping try and stay at at least 70% mana. I love having a smart wizard in my groups who knows when to start deleting mobs from the fight, when to start spamming root/stuns for CC, or when to evac.
If you start every fight at 20% mana because you nuke until OOM then you are useless when shit hits the fan.

FM giant fort is under utilized at times. Can safely med / camp on the side wall closer to the front door. If you hae never killed any burynai - they should be dubious/ non-aggressive; so best to leave that alone unless you really hate furby monsters.
Yes, wizard AE snare will need re-applying especially if you take a while bunching them up or evading other monsters/mishaps. Buy lots of bat wings and keep levitate going also. You will thank yourself when you're not falling for dmg and/or gaining more distance as they run into valleys/cliffs. For RP reasons, any commoner walks upon that ground - distance yourself from it, as you are a wizard.

Update!
Thanks everyone for all the suggestions! I just hit 33. I quadded brutes in WW from 30 to 33. Great spot and really easy. They have greened out so its time to move on. Bummer cause that is such a great spot.
If I knew how to make a vid I would love to show how I did it to other wizards trying to quad. Anyone know a easy to use free recorder for making vids?
Now that Im 33 Im going to hit gnolls and see how I do. Hard part is there is usually a lot of people camping them. If I find all three spires open can I claim them? Ive been yelled at because a few people said each spire is a camp. Is it a dick move to claim all three spires? If so Ill just find another spot.
At 34 Im going to hit up FM at the giant fort. I had a look at the camp and it looks like its gonna be a great spot. Cant wait to hit 34 and get my new spells!
If anyone has Circle of Force spell hit me up and Ill buy it from ya.
Thanks everyone for all the help and great info.

For gnolls, all 3 spires are one quad camp if you get there and nobody is camping them. I dunno, but I've always considered it a "dick move", as you put it, for people to kill onesies or twosies of a perfect quad camp. Want one? Kill the hill! Want two? Go get the 2 near the Hermit! Want 3 or more, but can't quad? Go inside with a group! It's amazing how populated paw gets these days!

Outdoor zones you are limited to a single (guranteed) camp spawn. If another person shows up, you choose which spawn you want, and they get one. Any other ones are FFA unless a third person shows up, etc.

I think I did the 30s on drakkel wolves by the GD spires/EW zoneline. Bonus they give +faction for thurg/cov

I found face tank nuke spamming the hermit 2 spawn worked well. Keep an eye out for quill mane in case some one accidentally triggers her without camping that spawnpoint.

I was in iceclad from 34-39 killing shadow guardians around the tower of frozen shadow. Great xp and they are not social.

Just hit 34 last night! Im going to go check out Overthere and a few of the other locations that were suggested.
I made a vid for the WW brute cave. I just want to show other wizards this location and how I did it. This is my first you tube vid so its nothing special and I have no idea what I was doing lol. When I find a decent spot at 34 Ill make another vid.

I think some people already suggested sister island in OOT. I just did those from 30 to 34. Pull the 2 in the rear cabin then the ones by the tree and dock for your first quad. For your second if you lev on the hill to get a higher view you can target and pull the one in the back of the cabin through the window/wall without getting anything else then run her around to the back of the island to get the 3 dwarfs for a full quad. At level 33 this was 5% and change XP per quad on a DE. If I didn't have to resnare I could do these back to back but I had 1650 mana. The entire time I was there I think I had maybe 5 resists.
It's also close to the ancient cyclops spawn so you can run over and tip people looted swords for SoWs/DMF.

Thanks for this! I love this place so far. Just about out of hell level 35. At 34 I was getting a good amount of resists but now at 35 its pretty rare. Ill make a vid on this spot soon.
I love static spawn quad locations. I just bind to a safe spot near the quad. Pull the static mobs. Quad them down. Gate back and med up. This place is perfect for that.
Vid coming soon!
