Hey Guys,

I must say it's been a great pleasure to be able to play EQ from my couch on my TV. But long sessions have begun to strain my eyes. I know I'm not the only one who does this so I was curious if anyone has any custom UI's that have scalable group windows / target windows etc. The chat boxes seem ok with /chatfontsize 6. It's really the target / group member health bars I'd like to scale up as I main a Cleric. :D

I searched for one a long time ago and found that someone was working on it, but I believe it was for live servers. I have a 4k laptop screen and it is hard to see. Set your chat windows to /chatfontsize 5 and memorize your hotkeys.

Deezy sent me one in Discord that is for 4k. I haven't had a chance to try it, but you can join there and get it from Deezy or myself if he/she is not on.

I would work on scaling the chat windows, fonts, hotbars, etc. if I knew what I was doing. I've read a few guides but had a hard time making sense of how everything went together in the XML files.

It looks like a Duxa Blown up. I watched him work on it for a while. I did make edits already to the text font in the hot buttons because I couldnt see them so I bumped it from 3 to 5.

As far as figuring out XML its not rocket science just read what is written and edit accordingly. You dont need a special program just use notepad.

How do you scale the Spell icons in the spell bar as well as the ones in the ones in a hotbar button? Is there a specific XML file for that or is it in 3 separate files?

Im stuck on the spell bar as well. I talked to Deezy and thats what hung him up too. I might dick around with it a little today not sure.

Used it last night and it does the job!!! Spell bar needs figuring out but this is a huge upgrade for me. Thanks Pac! :D

I was reading some posts on eqinterface the last couple of days but haven't found anything specific on getting the spell icons to enlarge in the hotbutton bar/spell bar. I would post there, but I don't have authorization and I don't believe anyone gets approval anymore.

I took the UI in this thread and worked on a few windows to change font sizes and completely redid the spell gem bar and player windows


I got lazy with the player window and the alignments are off but all the fonts are size 6 and nothing clips. Changed weight from currentWGT to current/max wgt.

Changed font sizes on action windows, pet window, all hotbeds, the text for the buff window. The text for coin amounts in inventory window.

I'm in traffic now, I'll upload when I get home. I work on it whenever I see another element that I cannot read.

Still looking where window header text is located but I haven't really dug in.

Looks good maybe I’ll switch to yours. The window header texts are in the window chat xml. Should be labeled at header just cntrl f it.

It looks good, but unfortunately it didn't work for me. It attempts to load, but then it reverts back to the default ui.

I’ve found in the name of the folder that it had to be name_name if there is a space. It just make it one name. You also might require additional files. As it looks like he combined horizontal UI with Vert ui.

Okay. I just threw what he sent into a folder and renamed it, so that may be the issue. I think I named it 4kd Test2. I'll give it another go tonight.

I make some edits every time I play trying to get more txt legible.

Didn’t work on my tv went back to default. Does Duxa come with extra files that you didn’t transfer with it?

It was the duxa UI for p99, I copied only the 1 xml into yours. You can try just importing my spell gem window into your ui. Or check your uierrors.log to see if it's the client.

Ok lot of work added into this since my last post. I finished a workable player window thats not hideous. I have made the buff windows text large but havent messed with redoing it yet. This time i added all my default files to the folder so if there was something missing it will be included.

Wasn’t anything missing I was a tard and had a folder in a folder.

Your first version the font was all 6 so I toned it down to 5 and everything works perfect for me.

Did you stick with the six in this one as well?

Some stuff is still 6 where it fits. The player window has been completely remapped so everything fits nicely. Im literally working on the buffs window right now, and ive thined out the target window.

im up to the 8th button of 25 in the buffs window.. slow work even with find replace. After i get all the buttons in place ill see about making the window resizable and anchoring the objects.
Slowly seeing how it calls out the graphics, not in every instance but here and there.

I goofed the targetwindow, when i thinned the background i didnt realize i cropped out the spell cast bar with it. Adjusted the target window to keep both yet still have the minimilistic approach.

Working on the Inventory window now, will remove the information already included in the player window. Then i will focus on making the inventory squares much larger and functional for 4k. I already enlarged one square so now its just a matter of duplicating and making a new screen to hold it all.

The work would go much faster if my client wouldnt dump every 10 ui reloads or so. Then i have to wait for the character to LD.

Fixed the button spacing for the bags with combine. No longer overlap with bottom containers.

Update:

Hotbar buttons have quadrupled.. Pesky spell icons still show up tiny, but one should be using a /sit off, /cast X macro anyways.

You can dynamically edit the ui without restarting EQ. That should include new folders as well.

Sidwil 2.9 is an XML program viewer made for Everquest. If not we could do some testing when I get home.

I'll zip up my latest for you tonight. Very playable already. Also the workflow is getting faster as I get used to it.

I'm contemplating increasing the scale a touch larger for those who are 6 to 8ft away. I use 4k monitor @ 24 inches away.

I.E. most decals are 40x40 and I've upped to 80x80 or 100x100 in most cases.

Day later than expected but I overhauled the UI to make it standard 100x100. Very enjoyable now @ 4k resolution.

Updated too many windows to just add them seperately.

SpellBookWindow: Updated to 100x100 decals and adjusted layout.
Inventory Window: Fixed cropping of lowest row.
Merchant Window: Changed size of selected item decal to 100x100, adjusted layout.
Character Select: Added window, font size 6 and adjusted layout.

thats the old spell gems, they have been updated. As far as the alignment of text in players windows i have no clue why its scrunched on yours.

Few other windows bothering me now that I've had a day to play with it.

Increase draggable surface of containers
Report any other bugs or tweaks.

I'd really really like to know how to change the quantity number in the corner of items.
The text size of grouped player names, pet window pet name.
If there's anyone that has any insight don't be shy.

If the number is over three digits in the Self Info window , its hard to read. Boxes that pop up to destroy, rez etc. are really small (have to stretch them).

I made the majority of a container drag-able.
Reworked the player window with textures, should be standardized for players.
Confirmation window size increased so text is visible, and increased to size 6.
I dont remember if i fixed trade window, i think i did.
Still confounded on changing the quantity number in the corner of stacks, or the text size of group member names and pet names.
