So lately there has been some individuals that are randomly PMing players in game, pretending to be friends or family members until one finally falls for it. These victims end up giving out their account credentials or items to the scammer and it doesn't end well for either party.

This is just a friendly reminder to NEVER give out your account information to anyone unless you are 100% sure you can trust that person, and/or you can verify that it actually is who they say they are. The staff normally tries to make things right, but we cannot guarantee that you will get your account or items back.

I feel like this post is the equivalent of McDonald’s having to post “extremely hot” on all their coffee to-go cups.

If the staff also encouraged people to scam others while simultaneously ignoring anyone's petitions about it then it would be exactly like McDonald's.

This has zero chance at working on me - for my family has no clue how to login to EQ and I have no friends!

Under no circumstances should you give your username and password to any other player.
You take full responsibility for your account regardless of who is using it.

In that particular case, the woman who got burned suffered third degree burns to her crotch, and specifically because McDonald's was superheating their coffee beyond any reasonable temperature to preserve flavour, despite being warned that it would injure people.

This post is satire right? No way people would blindly give acct info to 'friends or family members' without asking for some specifics right? Lol

I heard she got 3rd degree burns, like it literally melted parts of her body off and she had to get plastic surgery...

Did she slowly pour it onto her legs for several minutes? Picture appears to be possibly to the subQ, but I've seen people on fire, or pulled out of burning vehicles that were only second degree. Can't imagine a cup of coffee doing more damage.

Nope. Go read about it. The coffee was literally so hot it could have killed her.

You're going to have to convince me it could kill her though, was she not withing 30 minutes of a hospital?

I think the "could have" in this situation, stands for "under the right circumstances". Either way, that was definitely some absurdly hot coffee.

She would have to drink it(and keep drinking it) to cause enough damage for her airway to swell shut. That of course would take time to close completely, giving first responders or EMTs plenty of time to place a definitive airway or perform a surgical cric.

Bacteremia is always a risk for patients with 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Your body has lost one of its main defenses and infection has a portal of entry right into the system. The chances of this lady dying from these burns at any reputable hospital is pretty low, but there's always a possibility.

I like McDonalds coffee. It is pretty under rated compared to other big coffee houses, and much much cheaper. Plus, you can buy hashbrowns and egg mcmuffins while you get your coffee.

Why you all hating on the Ronald?

You know in some places pickpockets actually put up signs that say "beware of pickpockets" because people will naturally tap their pocket where their wallet is to make sure it's still there, making their job a little easier.

I have known guys that took breaks from the game, came back and found their toons stripped/missing items. One guy asked me if he had given me his info... He had not. This amazed me, that he honestly couldn't even recall exactly who all he gave his info to! He told me that he petitioned, and it was still in the process of being sorted out. (What a PITA for guides to have to monkey with that stuff.)

I have had other fellows want to give me their info so I could log their cleric on to rez them when they were on a second account, and even this makes me uncomfortable because if anything ends up missing then I would be under suspicion.

I feel like people are just way too trusting with their information, that and not very organized in managing who they give their info to. I don't trust anyone well enough to give them my info who I met through the game. if it were family perhaps I'd share my info, lucky for me none of my family play PC games.

The fake charities are at least to spot with one question. What is your charitable organization's tax ID number? They either have no idea what you're talking about, or try and claim that they can't give it out.

https://www.irs.gov/charities-non-profits/search-for-charities

"In addition, you may verify an organization's tax-exempt status and eligibility to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions by asking to see an organization's IRS letter recognizing it as tax-exempt. You may also confirm an organization's status by calling the IRS (toll-free) at 1-877-829-5500."
