Started posting on this board almost 7 years ago when I heard about the release of a new teams PvP server.

Any updates? :D

I don't think we will ever see a new server because of Daybreaks TLP servers and the perceived conflict of interest... We should probably count our blessings they let P99 live instead of shuttin 'er down. If they could figure out a way to run P99 on their current client I fully imagine P99 would be an official TLP server by now

TLDR; Daybreak suxs and think people actually like modern EQ.

TBH I actually had a LOT of fun on Agnarr. Some design elements I disagree with, such as Daybreak essentially removing any sort of Death Penalty (No corpse runs), and some of the items in Cash Shop being pay-to-win-quicker. (Regen pots, SoW pots, clarity pots, exp boosts, etc). Also not a fan of the expansions going to LDoN/LoY. They should stop at SoL or PoP.

I would just like a PvP TLP or PvP 99 fresh-start, preferably with a few improved mechanics.

I'd even settle for a HARDCORE TLP - one with limited cash shop, and hardcore death penalties.

An awesome pipe dream, but I fear it's only that: A pipe dream.

I will settle for a fresh new GREEN P99 Server though!

It'll never happen. Not enough people are interested in P99 PVP. Would be a disaster.

There's an audience for everything.

You're telling me there isn't an audience for hardcore, classic MMORPG PvP?

^ Not a large enough one to consider TEAM pvp.

Maybe if they kept it pre-Kunark it would be fine.

Is daybreak even allowed to bar p99 from opening another server after they signed an agreement with them?

I think the biggest barrier to entry is that there's no set of code for team pvp, meaning someone would have to write it, additionally it would probably canabalize interest and population from red, meaning we'd probably have to see red turn into a 100% ghost town before admins would consider it?

There have been a few team PvP server rulesets before.

Red on a "good" night has 80 players online. If that's not a ghost town, I don't know what is.

Half of that server is begging for a wipe anyway.

I'm not sure about that, but the fabulous P1999 staff has stated previously that a Green server (yay!) will eventually happen after the current projects are code-complete and implemented to the end of Velious. So, unless DB decides to be DBs, I don't see such tight restrictions.

That said, it really depends on the effort that the P99 team wants to give to something like Team PvP that may initially have a following, but is likely to drop off due to limited functionality within the EQ codebase.

There WILL be a new server if the staff want to continue working on project 1999 after the main project (blue/red) is complete. Daybreak nonsense has been confirmed to be tinfoil hat. Nilbog's posts reflect that he is strongly working towards another server that has yet to be announced.
