View Full Version : I never knew what power felt like until ...

I played a warrior on p99.
Shaman at 60 with torpor -- I felt like a god.
Bard at 60 -- unlimited shenanigans with the right song choice.
Monk at 59 -- dps what? And I can tank?!?
Necro at 58 -- so much utility/heal/dps/everything...
Warrior is 57 now and I've never felt so powerful. It's not as self sufficient but it brings a unique power to the table. Dying never happens quickly and with decent gear against reasonable content and an 'alright' group it feels almost impossible. My gear isn't the greatest but it's some of the most fun I've had in a long while. The 40s blew but from 51 on it has only gotten better.
I look forward to the rest of the road to 60 and all the gear upgrades that come with it in ways I've not felt on other characters. With the shaman it was all about spells. Bard didn't matter much. Necro? Lol just spells and levels. Monk power was easily near-capped with epic and cheap gear. The warrior is unique in that every level and gear upgrade yields palpable power increases.
It's fun.
I highly recommend the experience.

This is why I am such a fan of the self geared warrior alts! Those upgrades are meaningful to the extreme!
By the time you are 60 your evasive disc will be refreshing so quickly you will be taking teeny tiny numbers of hits! :D

It is the best class on the box. At 60 and velious armor a warrior is basically a super tanky rogue. Bags of items to equip for clicks, and bags of weapons with different procs. We are the mageblades.

yes im totally feeling it, post 50 it just gets better and better
then comes the cosmetics side. plate graphics + custom helm + 2 weapons = sick
downside is, you are never satisfied with current gears because war is too gear dependent.

Yeah i agree, everyone told me warrior is the worst solo class but now I have soloed 45 levels and had so much fun. I love when berzerk sets in and both me and mob is at 20% health and I fight till the death :-)

Drink 5 brandies every time you lose aggro and you'll be max tolerance by mid 50's. I can down 67 brandies before it tells me no more and the first stack does absolutely nothing. It is pretty sweet.

This is making me want to twink a warrior.
Someone PM me some elite gear choices that are easy to grab.

I tell healers to wait until 25% to heal because the tanky is too strong while pumping out crippling blows
Pushing hard to finish out 59 on my newt
I've always found Warrior surprisingly fun considering the class has virtually no depth. Pretty much all you do is sit there and watch your HP not go down, or go up and down really fast, and occasionally hit the Kick button (OK, I exaggerate). And yet, it's just fun.
Monk power was easily near-capped with epic and cheap gear.
You sir have clearly have never had a Primal or Abashi's or 1400 AC. Monks probably gain more than any other class from raid gear. Warriors in comparison are pretty legit at the Epic/HoT level.

I don't raid on p99 (at least not yet) so my spectrum of possibility is limited to group content and smaller mini-raids. With that finite power spectrum in mind, capping non-raid monk potential was pretty cheap and easy. You quickly get to a point where the only buyable upgrades are 50k a pop or require you to raid.
Within that same finite power spectrum each level and gear upgrade makes the warrior more noticeably powerful. Thurg/HoT gear and groupable/micro_raid content will be huge jumps for the warrior.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that aside from epic (monk), each upgrade was neat but didn't seem to make a big difference for my bard/monk/sham/nec.

What are some good Warrior weapons to use for soloing and grouping situations? If someone could list them by level, that would be super helpful.
Example:
1-21: Sword of Skyfire / Jarsath Trident
21-37: Yak Clubs, etc
I want to make a DE warrior soon lol, I want a robed goofball who everyone is mad that isnt minmaxing

Frostbringer procs starting at 40 but if you have the means to grab one earlier it's well worth it for the ratio and AC alone.

I wonder how many warriors have been created because of this thread.
That's one of those things I like about gaming. Work your way up and get rewarded like this.
Good thread!

Rolling up a War as we speak, thanks gents.
A velious raid geared monk might be stronger however as someone said warriors can get up there easily with HoT armor and what not

Yes, however monks dont get a 3 minute 35% mitigation disc that makes heals 35% more effective on a 7 minute timer. That makes your bufed 6k hp turn into basically 8k.

Thats not even how that works.

It's a lot more potent than just saying "it's like making a 6k warrior an 8k warrior!" ... especially vs high end mobs.

How is it more potent, it is damage reduction and effectively exactly what I said.

made a warrior because of this thread. Up to level 28. very fun. Was confused when my ranger didn't have crippling blows below 40% hp but instead just died.
