Quick, stupid question but how do I join a group with the Velious UI? Is there a FOLLOW button that I'm not seeing or something else?

Velious UI never had the invite and disband buttons included - the hotkeys were (and still are) CTL I for invite/accept and CTL D for decline and disband. These can be changed in the options window or alternately you can use the EQUI_GroupWindow.xml file from the extras zip if you like/prefer the buttons, just copy that file to your Velious UI folder and overwrite.

Yeah, also make sure you run EQemu as administrator so that Windows doesnt block it from overwriting files when its patching etc..

You dont have to reinstall to change the rez, use the resolution option in the installer. Also make sure your video drivers are up to date and you have .net 4 installed. At what point does it crash? are you able to get into login screen? Or does it crash before that? Are you able to run eqemu?

I just keep crashing, or I get on for a few seconds then crash. I wish I could just reinstall and start over, I think maybe my rez is too high or something weird.

The biggest reason for this is an outdated Microsoft Visual Basic library. Make sure you have all the latest windows updates or search MS website for the 2005 and 2008 installers.

Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard, I'm running 32 bit XP now through the bootcamp partition. But suddenly I can't get out to the Internet without connecting to wireless, for some reason I can't get an IP address with the nic. so I might just do a fresh install anyways

Also FYI, as far as "unknown exe's" go, you can always right click on one and do a virus scan on it. Virus Scans can usually see inside the exe and will let you know if there is anything malicious inside.

Of course you're right, I could have run a scan on the files or just have them executed on a VM. It's not mistrust in you or anybody else, but rather a "general, healthy mistrust". ;) I'm working in the IT sector and always try to execute only those files which I really, really must.

Anyone have any idea why EQ lags for me when I use this UI? It's not really a bad lag or anything... it just randomly "skips". I really like this UI, but I'm playing a bard and I can't kite at all with random skips :p

Hmm is that a problem with the UI? I've been using it from almost the beginning and have been getting that occasional skipping. It's mostly players that skip around (or "ghost").

It includes EqEmu, which automatically patches it up to the current version. So short answer. Yes.

It's only players that do this. They just don't run and turn as smooth as NPCs, as if the server can't properly update my client. If a player runs and turns a lot, he will nearly warp around. It's not as bad as having a bad framerate but it's noticeable.

I may be wrong on this.. but i believe the little skipping here and there is normal behavior for EQ. I even remember it happening back in the day on sony servers. I think it has to do with people instead of running straight fiddling with left and right buttons as they run and the server cant update fast enough because it probably checks for location every second or something instead of a 30 or 60 times a second...

so I dont think its an issue with the installer or anything.

Hello, I recently returned to P99 and have gotten the dreaded "Spells file is outdated" message. I have used your installer and used the eqemu launcher but I still get the same message at char select screen. Here are the solutions I have tried.

I have moved my EQ folder from program files to C:.
I have ran the EQEmu launcher as administrator.
I have done option 1 and option 12 in your installer.

I am at a loss as to what my next step is. In the launcher it is saying its patching the spells. Or at least something like "patch \uifiles\default\spells01.tga" and on down to spells07.tga. I just have no idea what I could be doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It shouldnt matter. Make sure that when you run EQemu you select Project 1999 server from the menu on the right and let EQemu patch it... dont skip patching.

Just wait for it to patch to the latest version and then try again it should be all good :) If not, make sure you run Eqemu as administrator otherwise windows might prevent it from overwriting the files with updated ones.

Are you using a Titanium client? Have you tried reinstalling? It sounds like you have a modified client.

Yes, I have Titanium and I have tried reinstalling. What is the best way to remove it completely from my computer? Just deleting the EQ file in C:\? maybe I didnt clear everything out.

If your character is animating fully at the same time then no frames are being skipped and it sounds like a network issue. Could be the engine, could be your location in relation to the server.

Yes, you first install a fresh copy of Tatanium then run Duxa's installer to modify it to run on Project 1999.

Kunark actually is out on P99, and EQemu patches the loading screen automatically (unfortunately). So you have 2 ways to go about it.

1)Probably the best way: Go into \\Everquest\Resources\ and make the loadscreen image read only by right clicking it and going to Properties. This way the EQemu launcher will not overwrite it.

Or you can do this:

2)Only use EQemu launcher to update the game but use a straight EXE shortcut to play.

Its really meant to be played at 1650x1080 or higher resolution so that there is a lot of real eastate for it all... you can check out some screenshots in the first post here (http://www.project1999.org/forums/showpost.php?p=229263&postcount=1) if you want to see how i have it set up.

Sounds like you did everything correctly. However.. you should have 2 accounts..

First you should have created when registering on EQemu.
Second you should have created when adding an EQ account through the user profile on EQemu...

So make sure you are using the correct user name / password...( should be the second one)... if you have not made that second one yet then go to EQemu and then UserCP then select "Create a LS Account.

What do you mean by low process? If you mean is it simple, then yes, its very simple and self explanatory.

If you are asking if it takes up resources, then the answer is that it takes NO (zero) additional resources, it makes changes to the existing EQ files, and does NOT run anything on top of the game. So with or without it, the CPU/Memory etc usage will be identical.

installed everything, everything is working great... except one thing, my mouse scroll is SUPER slow now. when i go to scroll out into 3rd person it takes 7-10 scrolls to zoom it all the way out, whereas before it only took one quick swipe of the scroll to be all the way out...

I havent experienced anything like that. No reason the installer would cause that either. Have you checked in windows to make sure your mouse wheel scross amount wasnt changed?

Yep, sorry thought I answered. Basically UI for EQ relies on built in UI functions. There is no function for sub %.

Make sure you have UAC turned off if on Vista or Windows 7, also make sure EQ is in C:\ and NOT in program files. And lastly.. run the tool as administrator (right click -> Run as Administrator).

I'm wondering if theres a way I can get only your player window with the extra info on it and the hotbutton window with the bag slots on it to work on my default ui. I tried copying just the 2 files for these 2 windows into a new custom default folder and loading it but it didnt work.

Alternatively all I'm really after is a player window with the xp bar and current/total #'s for hp and mana on it and a hotbutton window with the 8 bag slots on it. If theres any other mods out there with just these 2 things that work with P1999 I'd greatly appreciate the info :)

Hey, welcome back to EQ :)

Unfortunately a lot of the elements rely on each other, and so its not possible to just grab 2 and import them into another UI :/ It would have to be a rewrite from the ground up.

That looks correct... no reason it shouldnt work. Is your default UI modified in any way? It does rely on some components of the Default UI to function properly.

1. Default - Download the FULL UI >>>here<<< and unzip into your Everquest\uifiles\default folder overwriting all files. This will make sure you have a fresh 'default'. Next download the Project1999 UI updates to make it compatible for this server from >>>here<<< and again, unzip into your Everquest\uifiles\default folder overwriting all files. When you load up Everquest your UI should look like this:

I never did the Updating Your UI thread step and I have never had a problem at all with mine. I even went on EQInterface and found a few little mods from around 2006 that work just fine with the default UI as well.

Probably an issue with the server? If you can get to the character select screen (and are logging into the correct server) then its not hte installer, at that point its the server.

Just run one of the options from the installer and use the new shortcut placed on your desktop.

Can you post the screenshot of the error you get? It sounds like you picked an unsupported resolution during install. Try picking the option to switch resolutions and try using Windowed mode to see if it works. If it does then thats the problem, you can run selector again and make sure you pick correct resolution.

Hey, the second problem has been fixed. However, I now realize what the first problem is. After EQemu launches the game and it takes you into the game login screen, the small tan box (I selected the Kunark loading screen) where the server should be displayed is blank. Do you have any suggestion? Does it matter what resolution option I choose from your installer? Should I choose the one which matches my monitor resolution? Thanks.

First problem:
Yes you need to have a Project 1999 account. Which is separate from EQemu account. Here is what you need to do on EQemu forums (NOT these forums).

Step 3 - Login Server Account
You will now need to create a Login Server account that you will use log into the EQEmulator Loginserver. Please go to the Login Server page (located under Miscellaneous in your UserCP∞). Select "Create a LS Account∞." Fill out the fields and proceed. Please note that your EQEmulator Forum account and EQEmulator Login Server account are totally seperate; you should use a different username/password combination for each.
Your Login Server Account passwords are NOT RECOVERABLE in any way. Do not lose your lose or forget your information.

Second Problem:
You are either on Windows 7 or Windows Vista, they restrict program access. To remedy this right click on the shortcut you are using to start EQemu and select "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR"... you can also right click go to properties and checkbox "Always Run As Administrator" to not have to do that every time.

I've just found out about Project 1999 and this awesome installer, and I've been using Duxa UI because it's amazing! However, my spell gem slot window has disapeared suddenly and I have no idea how to make it appear again - I've tried overwriting the Duxa UI files to see if it was some random setting, but that doesn't seem to have worked - is there a slash command I'm missing somewhere? Absolutely false, there is nothing malicious in the installer. Scanned by various Anti Virus scanners, all return negative.

What file does it say is malicious? Does your computer have a virus that is infecting other files?

If it gives you that error that means that you are not pointing it in the right directory. Make sure you are pointing it in the same directory where the game files are. Make sure that the game is not installed inside of a folder in a folder... for example C:\Everquest\Everquest

if so then you have to point it to that second folder.

PS - just to clarify, you need to have EverQuest Titanium edition installed. This will not install the actual game for you.

That option simply adds a new shortcut (in start menu) and on desktop (with old EQ icon), if you dont use those then the "fix" is not in effect. If you dont have any other shortcuts you can make a new one by going to where EQ is installed and right clicking on "eqgame.exe" and selecting "send to" then "Desktop as shortcut", that way ull get a new shortcut on your desktop (see image below for icon differences).

PS - Alternatively you can use EQemu to start EQ, in which case it will not have the fix either, unless you select EQ's own option to run with single core from its settings menu, which is off by default).

You have to have Titanium in order to play on p99. The live version will not work. You either need a copy of Titanium or to peruse the wide Internet for a download of Titanium.

You dont need to do any of that... here is what you do:

1) Install fresh copy of EQ Titanium.
2) Download Duxa's All In one Installer and choose Optione (1).

Then just run the shortcut on your desktop. It will launch EQemulator, update it and do everything for you automatically.

Are you talking about the CPU fix? Unfortunately there are so many different CPUs out there, ranging from single core pentiums to hex score Xenons, hundreds of clock speeds etc, so it is impossible to test it on everything.

But if you post the exact details perhaps I can take a look.

I have an issue when using Duxa UI that I cannot set up hotkeys for hotbars other then Hotbar1. For instance when i do Options > Keys Tab > Hotbar 2 and I am trying to bind Hotbar 2 1-4 to sense heading for my movement keys, it does not work.

Prior to installing Duxa UI I had the normal UI included in the game and I set up my hotkeys using the same method above for my main toon. Now that I am trying to create alts, it is not working for me for Duxa on my main computer. I also installed P1999 and Duxa on my laptop, and it does not work there either.

Anyone run into a similar issue ?

I have installed the game successfully before without getting this error so I don't think it is something procedurally wrong that I have done.

Will need more info from you. Which options did you try? Are you using EQemu or a fixed CPU shortcut? If EQemu have you tried forcing it to use only 1 core through options in EQemu (not the game)?

What kind of processor do you have? AMD? Intel? Dual Core? Quad Core?

If you've got the space, I'd do an extra install for other servers like The Hidden Forest etc as servers adapt certain files that can cause chaos if you're chopping around (Nektulos/Lavastorm here as an example needs to be adapted).

Assuming you go to do that and don't get an option from your Titanium CDs to do another install, copy your original P99 folder to a USB stick (or CD-R or whatever) and then do another Titanium install for Server 2. Sounds like a long way around a big problem but it can save a lot of headaches :)

Swish nailed it in the head. Ideally you want to have separate installs for different servers. You dont really have to "reinstall" either, you could just copy/paste the EQ folder to a new location and that will work. However if you already cut the size down of the existing folder you will need to reinstall Titanium.

But I would recommend instead of getting rid of the current setup... if it works for P99 then keep using it. But just make a separate installation to a different folder for another server off the Titanium disc.

Is it possible to have more than 1 hotkey bar with this UI? For some reason, when I go to EQ ==> Hotkey 2, and select it, it does not show up. When I select Hotkey 1 using the same steps, I can add and remove the hoykey bar. I am struggling because I need more than 10 hotkeys! Any ideas?

I use Duxa UI and I utilize the additional hotbars. Granted I hide them and have memorized the keybindings for them (mostly they are stupid simple ones, like I added all my spells to one hotbar, keybound it, and use that hotbar for spells instead of the spell bar, and the other one has the buttons I refresh on CD, like forage, sense heading, and track). But this does use two additional hotbars.

installed everything, everything is working great... except one thing, my mouse scroll is SUPER slow now. when i go to scroll out into 3rd person it takes 7-10 scrolls to zoom it all the way out, whereas before it only took one quick swipe of the scroll to be all the way out...

You have to change your frame refresh rate in video options. You probably did this before doing the update a long time ago and forgot. Lower the frame rate and you can scroll really fast. I use 45.

Yes, the spell bar file is titled EQUI_CastSpellWnd.xml. Either delete that from your DuxaUI folder (which will then load the default Titanium client UI cast window), or find another cast window you do like that is compatible with the Titanium client and paste it into your DuxaUI folder, overwriting as necessary.

The default Titanium UI will have a spell bar that looks like the one along the left side here:

If you don't like that, I know Savok's VertUI (http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=7850) is compatible with P99 and the spell bar will look like the one in the bottom right corner in this picture (note your spell gem icons might be different):

You answered your own question. The other option is to make your custom UI the default UI by renaming folders, but that is ill-advised. As for moving windows to appropriate locations, that's dependent on character specific values and are contained within the INI file for that character, so either do the copy/pasting you already do before you make the character, or log out real quick every time you make a new character.

How are you switching to full screen? Are you switching in game? Are you using the All Installer Tool and picking option (6)? Are you using ALT+Enter? Make sure to set the resolution to whatever your monitor supports. Most newer monitors are 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 or 1680x1050. Use Option (6) in the installer for switching.

Once set, try pressing ALT+ENTER that will make the game full screen.

If that doesnt work please post a screenshot of the error you are getting.

Here is a question - I installed the fix that makes underwater sound last longer than 5 seconds, and improves some game sounds. Thunder/rain are changed and just don't feel classic anymore.

While certainly possible, it would need a UI rewrite; and not to mention the whole point of that UI is to simulate the old school gameplay... adding new features to it will make it a non velious ui :)

You can edit the ini file to manually insert that resolution. Are you sure that is your native resolution? They havent used resolution like that on monitors in at least 10 years.. is it a CRT from 90's or really early 2000's?

If its an LCD of any kind or a monitor that is newer than 2003 I would definitely make sure that is the native resolution...

Note, just because your desktop is set to that resolution doesnt mean thats the native resolution of the monitor... try goggling model number if unsure.

Don't install EQ into your program files directory. You'll have trouble editing the files when it's there.

This isnt the EZ server. Try finding their server website and they might be able to help you more. This is P99 server place and EZ server probably uses different files then p99 anyway.

Click Start in windows and type in "UAC" it stands for user access control. You will see a slider when you open it, move it all the way down to "Never Notify"

Yes, that is the latest version. Once you run EQemu that is built into it the game will be patched to the latest version. This is the best way to keep the game up to date.

Copy all of the *.cur files from the default UI folder to your custom one.

What happens is this: The UI will load all files in the order listed in the EQUI.ini file and if any files are missing it will load them from default except the cursors. If you use a custom UI folder it will default to the windows mouse settings (whatever you use normally in Windows) unless you add them to your custom folder manually.

Hey, I'm a regular EqEmu user, but I've finally got an install of Titanium on my system. I tried to log in to P99 and got the "spell files out of date" error.
When I searched the error on google I found an outdated thread from v0.7 that said I could download this installer and choose option (13) to get it fixed.
I followed the directions up until the point that I couldn't choose an option (13). If I read this correctly, that's because the spell files are in with a recommended install. Since there are 46 pages to this post, i didn't check to see if someone already asked this, so, I'm sorry if i'm being repetitive.

Do you have other languages installed in Windows? That behavior is consistent with when keyboard is switched to a non english language.

Are you using Titanium version of EQ? Did it work on Project 1999 before? Or is this first time you trying it?

Which option did you choose when installing? For the most part it doesnt change the game, it just adds extra things such as new UI, loading screens etc. If you just choose to use old stuff then it will be exactly as if you never installed it.

Just a heads up for everyone in this thread having issues with installing.

if you're running vista or later, you need to install EQ directly to your C:\ drive instead of in c:\program files or whatever.

you will also benefit from disabling UAC. Simply do a windows help search for UAC to find out how to disable this.

Alternatively, you can follow falkuns manual set up guide found in his signature. I will find hte link and post it here a little later.

for some reason this UI is a cpu HOG which isnt somuch as a problem as the resolution, i have the resoultion 1366/768 and the only raso's u have on the install wont wrk for me i have to plug in a secondary moniter for it to wrk i was wondering if somehow my reso can souported somehow so i can play

Thakisis_VZ, try running in compatibility mode. Right click eqgame.exe & select properties, there's a tab for compatibility to select different windows versions.

Also I have a question too if anyone has seen this issue. I recently switched to duxaui and the effects (buffs/debuffs) window is no longer showing up. Tried moving windows around to see if it was hiding underneath something else but no luck. Toggling on/off & I don't see any difference. Is there a way to use the default effects window and everything else duxaui?

I do have some sounds in the game that sizzles or It feels like there's some kind of static/distortion not all but some ..... dunno why . when i use another folder of EQ and run it i dont have this issue ,all the sounds are ok .
I just Installed EQ Titanium and followed tutorial in here , nothing else and dont have this issue on this old folder.

Exemple sounds : Open box in inventory . Spell harvest (wizard 39 ) or rune absorption sound effects.

Just recently purchased a new computer which is now running Windows 8...

Copied all my P99/EQ files over and ran the installer. Everything seemed to be installing and running fine until it got time to start up the EQemu launcher. After updating, the launcher was already only about half visible and everytime it states it cannot reach the webserver and will try again in 10 seconds.

This just happens continuously...anyone been experiencing similar issues or have any possible solutions?

Have done the eqhost fix, and done the patch me fix, and have everquest SoF disks downloaded and still cant seem to either get past the no network connection contact sony blah blah, and cant seem to fompletely download Duxas all in one .. it says something about the directory not recognized. Can anyone who has a copy of this .exe file possibly upload it to another location or service such as dropbox or better a torrent? For some reason, I am unable to download this file as I keep getting an error message on Firefox regarding the source being unable to be read. I have tried separate download managers and still had errors with the file never completing the full download and being stuck at 99%. Same with the file for the server install "P99Files30.zip"

I have also tried IE and I am unable to completely download both of these files. I am stumped as I have ESET security disabled and my firewall temporarily suspended and yet, I am can not download these files. However, I can easily download files from other sources, torrents and YouTube without issue.

That is a weird resolution. You can specify a custom resolution by editing the eqconfig ini in the EQ folder.

Please post the screenshot of the error. Do you only see it when logging off? What video card do you have? Are your drivers up to date? What resolution are you running the game at?

You can not use SoF. You HAVE TO use Titanium edition of EQ.

Did you resolve the issue? If not, look in Options at Keyboard Bindings, find group window binding and use the hotkey to toggle it (if no hotkey is set, then set one. like Shift+G or something).

Sounds like you have a virus on your computer. I verified all of the links and have no problems downloading the files. What are you using to open them? Are you using WinRar?
