Drop transfer nerf?

Has there been a change to how long items last on the ground? I just lost stuff for the second time in as many days. They weren't big items or anything, but it's really inconvenient to have to bother someone else for trivial transfers. This time, my items disappeared in less than three minutes.

And it's definitely not classic.

I've noticed that dropped items seem to poof immediately if there are no players in the zone. I've had it happen when transferring bags to alts.

I did one just yesterday and it seemed to work okay - but it was two characters on the same account, so the transfer was very quick.

just find an out of the way tradeskill device and put items in there and hope nobody strolls along to use it... or have friends/guildmates that can do a quick transfer for you

I was able to drop transfer a shadowed rapier just a few days ago... Thursday I think. Was there a patch since then? 3 minutes is more than enough time to switch chars as long as they are on the same account. And in classic the only time anyone would bother to transfer gear that was would be if they only had 1 account.
That being said, I can see how the time might be cutting it close if you have to change accounts.

I drop transfered 2 times on Sunday. 1st was a bag with some items in it, the 2nd time was 4 items no bag.

Both chars on same account so it was not on the ground long. I did this in WFP with others in zone.

I think someone was watching you =(

Yeah I do that all the time when necessary. I don't think people know about the /camp desktop, /camp character (and I think /camp server will bring you to the server select screen, i don't know because I don't use it). Most people just use /camp.

While it doesn't really help you here I can confirm that they did stay indefinitely on Live servers.

Where did you drop it in commons? At the druid rings?

I haven't done it on this server, or pre-ShowEQ days, but I would pick a location that had next to nobody in it.

Even then if your other char is camped right near by I don't see how you have an issue. Right near there you could have done Befallen? Neriak C? Sol Temple? Freeport sewers?

yeah i'm thinking things decay faster than they should too. Was in Najena killing Widowmistress and she dropped a stiletto and I already had one. So my wife raced to get there before it poofed. It said it had 1 min 37 seconds left as she zoned in to Najena and poofed anyway. Ah well , a noob lost out as i was gonna give it to someone that needed it.

Are items disappearing quicker when put on the ground? How long do they last? I try to use pieces of food to denote which tunnel my group is through in Kedge and it seems that the items are poofing within 3-4 minutes.

Any infoz?

Lol. I haven't read this post since the last time I posted. Damn, my split paw gloves got JACKED. Maybe I just had tremendously bad luck. This was inside one of the empty WC huts--not exactly hot spots. Then I experimented in odd parts of Kithicor and Innothule and lost stacks of foraged food and stuff like that. I haven't had a successful inter-account drop transfer for weeks, but it certainly falls within the realm of possibility that people are happening by odd places. I never drop transfer anything valuable, anyway.

Just to state the obvious, transferring items via ground drop is essentially a gamble. Everybody knows that you should not gamble more than you can afford to loose.

So yeah, I ground transfer stuff all the time, but I would never transfer a really choice item that way.

I am guessing you could ask someone who is guided and higher level to help with a transfer. Most people on this server are decent people and are willing to help someone out. People have offered buffs, low level gear, ports, sows etc. No reason they wouldn't help with a transfer.
