hey @everyone,

i am new here as of yesterday. i rolled a gnome cleric on red and i plan to play evenings from about 9pm pacific time to 12am pacific time.

i don't have any statistics around the population of everquest back in 1999 - ~2002 but my gut tells me it was a bit less than the population on blue which made me worry about crowding.

at any rate, i hope to see you all around. it's a shame i am so late to the server, but i have been enjoying a couple of the custom servers on eqemulator for the past few years.

i made it to level 5. i accidentally picked brell instead of bertoxxulous, but i am going to take the bob ross approach to this.

@swish - i will very likely need that, thanks!

@jmcwrestling - i'll work my way up. the weekend is here so i will put in a couple extra hours at night.

I took a similar path as you and played many of the other servers for years before leaping into the P99 scene. Being super casual, I don't raid but I get to have some gaming fun when/if I want + how I want. I haven't played on Red as much as Blue but both have decent players that will extend the olive branch when you're around. Welcome aboard fellow EQ'er. /salute

Don't underestimate the power of undead nukes! Kurn's Tower is definitely the best solo CLR 9-22 spot!

@amyas - i'll do my best to catch up.

@whirled - i am glad to hear i am not alone. i really liked sod because it gave me that classic eq nostalgia with a fresh twist. i hope someone can pick up where that team left off. that said, classic eq should keep me plenty busy for at least a year.

@lulz~sect - i will definitely head that way if i can manage it. asking for a port and a bind at the kaesora ruins feels like a lot to ask of someone though!

@clazxiss - i will see what i can do one of these evenings.

You'll find cleric to be very rewarding if you enjoy the support role. You'll be needed for just about everything.

@symbioticforks - yeah, that's what i was thinking. worst case i have lull and undead nukes for the lonely nights. slow and steady!

i had my first pvp encounter today. despite having no chance, it was still fun.

i got a tell afterwards "go back to blue idiot". unfortunately, i don't have anything on blue to go back to, but i appreciate the time this person took to contact me directly; it made our brief encounter more intimate. ;)

If they are pvp'ing low level toons, that probably means they can't take it high level.

@rivera, @clazxiss - it's all good. i didn't get camped. maybe it was just their way of welcoming me to red.

i am getting close to level 9, and i joined up with sanctuary. they seem like a solid group of folks so far.

all said, and while short, my experience has been quite the opposite of the "red hate" posts i've been reading. hopefully the streak continues!

i am getting pretty close to 13 after getting into two groups last night!

my first group was in crushbone. i ran into a bard and rogue who cleared around the outside of the castle and a couple of lego's right inside. i died a couple of times, but it was a blast. my second group was a duo with an sk. unfortunately, i had to log off shortly after this group formed, but we did run into a 20s? bard who grouped up to sing us a hymn of restoration.

i received a few wisdom and +mana items randomly tonight which has boosted my mana pool for some of the nastier pulls.

tldr: good people and good experiences on red continue.

i am up to level 29. resurrect at last! i've had groups every night i've logged in, and the server/experience continues to be a blast.

the only difficult part so far is affording spells, but i've decided to only buy critical spells and i'll circle back to "complete" my spell book later.
