Are the staff aware or unaware?

Sorry, I am tired of seeing "real" auctions in the 10-15-20k range.

It makes me think of multiple reasons for this beyond simple economics, I've worked auction systems before in other games and have always been comfortable with the amount of gold/plat/silver/credits/coin I have on a main.

The means 1 of many things

a. People have way too much time on this server, obviously to farm up 10-15-20k for a single item. (Mana Stone, FBSS, Mith 2 Hander, etc)

b. Duping is happening somewhere, somehow and very very under the radar without staff being aware

c. Controlled economy on the server that I am simply not aware of?

Maybe it is a little bit of a. and c. and b. is just simply not possible, but maybe its because I work full time and when I only have 2.5k plat to my name and sinking many hours into it just for that amount, 2.5k plat at its current value isn't worth much in the market I am currently seeing and I am certainly putting forth the effort to earn this plat.


Please de-confirm my beliefs duping or something else shady is happening, are people really paying 15-20k for some items? I want to know the secret, I know many secrets on good plat per/hour spots but something just simply seems "wrong"

My room mate plays like a pack rat and easily had thousands of plat not trying very hard. When you are a caster and don't care about being massively encumbered and go sell every chance you get, its pretty freaking easy to rack up a lot of money.

At first I was skeptical since as a tank I hardly ever went encumbered or left to go sell and was always broke (still am), but after seen my room mate whore it up hardcore I'm not anymore.

Spectres ("scythes" sell for 14 plat or so), hill giants, and sola fine steel hoarding are all absurd sources of plat.

There are no money sinks in this game, so plat just keeps adding and adding and adding.

Mages can start making 250p an hour at 20. And it only goes up from there.

Only duping I have ran into is often when scribing a big set of new spells, immediately after zoning, one of the spells (the last?) I scribed would be in my inventory again. This happened at least 3 times to me. Couldn't find a particular way to reproduce it but really they're just spells so who cares...

But seriously, duping might have been an issue, but it isn't a huge one that I'm aware off. I made all my platz legitly, and it is not hard... at all. The economy isn't fucking up because of duping, it's fucked up because of people like me that played waaaay to much.

I don't farm, I don't sell stuff for crazy prices (anyone that's bought from me knows stuff is usually dirt dirt cheap), I don't even really group that much. Just gave Karsten 7k to pay off some debt, and I think I still have over 15k kicking around in the bank. Nothing compared to some people. But active farmers should be ROLLING in the dough.

PEQ's economy is pretty inflated due to duping of items back when the economy was just starting to form, but it still runs surprisingly well.

The only item dupe ive heard of that still works on the emulator would take some know how to do, and is basically impossible for the average player to just stumble upon, not to mention pretty detectable. It only works on certain things too so it would only ruin the markets for specific items. To be honest I wouldnt worry too much about the p99 economy crashing overnight. It will probably be more inflated than you might expect it to be in the future, but it will still function just fine.

I'm shooting myself in the foot here giving away a seemingly little-known honeyhole, but since I dinged 54 they're all light blue and not really worth it so much:
The front 8 guards in Grobb are pretty decent cash. They drop a 'Long Sword' and a large round shield every time, most drop Intestine Necklaces, and a little coin, from 5gp, to 2pp usually.

The Sword sells for just shy of 12pp,
The Shield vendors 1p 7gp
The necklace sells for just over 1pp.

All in all I'm getting about 15p per kill, 8 or 9 guards on a 16 (IIRC) minute timer.

If you're an enc (obv~) or necro, the vendors are apprehensive while in Lichform so I can make a round, sell my loot and then buy and resell gems and certain other items to change gold/silver/copper into plat when you get heavy.
The last time I was there I made 1500p in about 3.5 hours.

There's better out there, but it beats fighting for Seafuries.

1. You must be BOUND in PERMAFROST.
2. I've only tried this in West Freeport, but a friend told me it now works in Field of Bone too.
3. Bank all of your no drop gear.
4. Wearing only droppable gear which you wish to loot (lore does not matter, just have someone else around to receive), charm a mob. You must have entered FoB or Freeport wearing only the items you wish to dupe.
5. Give the charmed pet all of your droppable gear, including platinum.
6. Park your pet in a safe place.
7. Find your local guards and attack them. Die. Do NOT let your pet agro, chain /pet back off. I like to mez my pet before charm so he doesn't move.
8. Mark your clock, you must camp for exactly 24 hours to allow your new loot to grow.
9. Run (no ports allowed) back to the zone you attempted the dupe in and slaughter the zone until you find the mob with all your gear.
10. Congratulations! You've been duped.

well permafrost is bugged - zoning from perma/everfrost (or vice versa) makes mend refresh and function like it did before they nerfed it

The prices are no where near what they were on Veeshan during live. The Buy/Sell prices of 90% of the items here make no sense.

Not to mention a majority of the rare items that are on the server. Are they dropping higher here than on live? Maybe, but people know about the loot, how to make some npcs spawn, so its easier to get the items. Either way, I've seen more rare loot on this server than there was on live.

Like Fungi Tunic, sure it should have been common at first. So I understand it being a little higher than normal. But 120k for it? That crap sold for 30-40k max on Veeshan. Cloak of Flames was around 80k. It's amazing at the prices on the server.

I do agree the people who duped and passed off a lot of plat before being banned fucked the economy here. The fact that some people who did this, and are still allowed to play here is surprising( even on a new account). The shit I was told while in Transcendence was amazing. People bragging about using Show Eq, Duping, and zone depops for gods,not just in Trans, but DA, IB and even WI at the time.

last night was raising blacksmithing, put in my hammer and some other materials in a Halas forge to make some chain joining. When I combined it, out came the joining, a file, and TWO blacksmith hammers.

I thought wow, that's kind of fucked up and sold the extra hammer for 10 plat to a nearby vendor. No idea what I actually did to make that happen though.:confused:

I hope you all realize that plat dupes and other plat making cheats and/or faults in game mechanics were prevelant on nearly every single live server.

This sever should not be expected to be different in that reguard as there will always be folks out there trying to cheat to get what they want.

That being said, Fungi tunic was pretty much always 75-100k on Povar from 2000 all the way till around 2005. All live servers had different populations, different kinds of players ect. Its hard to compare one to another in terms of an economy.

Besides , we have one thing the lives servers did not : An Uthgaard. He smells bullshit from 6 zones away and doesnt pull punches. I think we are ok.

We have some pretty sophisticated logging on P99 that doesn't exist on other Emu servers. Most of this was put in place right before Kunark opened. This includes better tracking of items that have dropped and been looted, including from what mob and etc, and it's kept seperate from things such as players looting their own corpse (which is something other servers have combined). What this means is we can tell very quickly how many of a certain item should exist in the game... compare that with the total number of those items from inventories, banks, and corpses, and if there is a discrepency we can track it down.

So if anyone has a strong feeling there is some duping going on, you are welcome to post about it in the petition forum.
