Sorry in advance if this is not the right location to post this--I spent about an hour browsing the forum, looking for information or where I could post. No such luck. I did find a handy flowchart on posting to the forum though, but it didn't answer my question.

I recently did two videos about EverQuest, like a making of history sort of deal; they were pretty decently received and in one of the video comments someone mentioned that the history of Project 1999 might be worth delving into. I wholeheartedly agree.

I know the creators, mods and Project 1999 members are pretty damn busy, so let's cut straight to the point:

Is there anyone from the development team who might be willing to let me do an informal, via e-mail Q & A? It's solely for gathering information about how this thing got started, the motivation, how the agreement with Daybreak was founded, etc., the sort of stuff with how Project 1999 is what it is today.

Your answers, your stories and whatever else you decide to tell me can remain confidential. I won't publish, write or speak about something I'm not given permission to. Just know that my ultimate goal for this is a video about how Project 1999 got started and the people that created it. Your total involvement in this process is entirely up to you, I won't harangue or harass anyone, promised. =)

Who are you?
Why didn't you PM the admins personally instead of posting this publicly?
You may send your message to up to 5 people at a time.
Separate multiple user names with ';'
Could have PM'd all the lead staff in one send.

Not very professional to post in public chat given the fact that people troll on the internet. And given this is your first post and you never said who you are. It's likely you're just fishing for information to use against people. But hey that's my cynical take on this.

-edit-
I guess I'll plug for you:

EQ history videos credited to him

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyF6vDIEBOk\

Still it wouldn't be the first time someone claimed they were someone they weren't. again cynical.

-edit2-
If you are who you say you are. I apologize for being a jerk. You may want to also browse the eqemu forums for information too! good luck.

Leave it to baler to let his paranoid side out, and to dig up any personal things he could find on the OP.

I didn't realize a forum system had PMs, I thought this was a public foray kind of deal. It also seemed odd to say my name is Nickadimoose, when my name on the forum is Nickadimoose. It felt redundant I guess.

I'm not sure what type of harmful blow I could deliver to the creators of Project 1999 with my request, but that's not intention. Again, this is solely to delve into the history of Project 1999 and really nothing more. I have no malicious or trolling ambition. I guess just chalk this public post up to nothing more than naivety on my part? I don't often use forums.

There was a roleplay forum when I was like 12? I don't think I've used one since then, so my bad. Would it be better to delete this post and then use the Dev Watcher list to PM everybody?

Edit: no worries, I guess it does seem odd as hell that a guy comes out of the blue to a forum with 0 prior posts. I'm not sure how to prove I'm not maliciously trying to hurt someone or something. I promise I'm just an incompetent idiot!

In all sincerity people will be able to decide for them selves. But moving forward I highly encourage you to do one of two things. PM the staff or post in the Petition section of the forums. Either will directly get their attention. Again sorry for my off the cuff attitude. It couldn't have hurt to link to the videos you've done. They're quite good actually. People here love to watch high quality EQ videos.

And if staff decide to take this forward. I have no hard feelings if they delete my post.

You wanna know? Here's the answer:

And given this is your first post

You can't PM people until you have a few posts.

It's really alright, with this being an internet forum I'd imagine spam isn't out of character here!

And thank you. I didn't want to make it seem like I was just trying to plug my videos for views, subscribers or any other crap like that. I just was optimistically hoping for information. D'oh. @_@

Edit: also I'll figure out how to delete this thread and instead post in petitions as you recommended. It seems that the PM's as Sorn mentioned, might not be available to me due to my low-post count.

Yeah I know that sorn..
Why not build credibility by posting his content beforehand.
And I believe there are emails of staff floating around.

I get that and understand fully. It's just you come into a area as a newcomer and start asking thing with no proof to back it up. It looks suspicious at first.
You just had the misfortune of getting me as a first reply. :|

By the by only staff can delete threads. And people would love to watch a video of the history of P99. Then argue about facts.

Stop being a grumpy old man. He mentioned the videos in the first post and you linked them in the second. It's fine.

This forum has a certain culture, which includes ragging on new people for being lazy and/or unaware of things. It's nothing personal against you, it's just how people act here, so don't take it the wrong way. It's certainly not the whole culture here though, so allow me to say: Welcome to the P99 forums fellow lover of EverQuest, and thank you for all of the time and effort you put in to making videos about where our favorite game came from! :)

As someone who enjoyed your history videos, I would love to hear the story of how P99 began and how it grew to become what it is today. The staff tend to be very private (given your first taste of this forum's culture I'm sure you can understand why), but hopefully they'll be willing to share at least some part of their story.

P.S. While you should probably try private messaging the relevant stakeholders when you can, there's no real harm in making a post here like you did, so I hardly think you need to delete it.

Good luck, really enjoyed your EQ History vids! I'm constantly hungry for well produced, well thought out P99/Classic EQ content, and your vids were fantastic.

Good, because it looks like I can't do that anyways! And thank you for the welcome. I definitely did not do enough due diligence in testing the features of the forum, otherwise I think I would have tried the PM route lol.

Also it was my pleasure to commit the time to the videos. I've loved every minute of playing on the Project 1999 servers, aside from losing my corpse for like 2 hours somewhere in the lake of Dagnor's Cauldron on my way to Unrest. Stupid Tidal Lord Goblins.

Sirken does a P99 stream every Monday (I don't think he has been doing it much recently). Would get in touch with Sirken and see if he would have you on, would be a perfect forum for the type of thing you are trying to do.

That's a good idea, I'll give it a try. Thank you!

Thanks a lot, I'm glad you liked them. I'm hoping to get better at the audio recording side of things, make sure I don't stumble on words no more. >.<

I have the same problem! Whenever I watch back a video of mine (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KQCiEGaMd0), I can't believe how many times I say Ummmmm, or Uhhhhh, or just can't say the damn word.

If you are really interested, start reading old forum posts. For example, pick Rogean's post history, then read threads he's posted in. As you go, pick other notable people. It's time consuming, but the history is all right here.

One note on this: this forum's search feature is ... suspect. For instance, according to the search feature (when you search for posts from Rogean (http://www.project1999.com/forums/search.php?searchid=8278402)), our illustrious co-founder appears to have a grand total of 67 posts.

Instead of searching here, I'd recommend using google, along with this extra bit to make it only find stuff on this site: "site:www.project1999.com".

Yes google search usually catches more results.
Google cache is also good And waybackmachine can sometimes save the day.

Though these bots can't catch all the juicy deets.

ps. @Loramin forums roll over to the next page after #0's,. sorry didn't mean to roll onto a next page past your 10/10 post.

No worries :) Honestly I'm glad you mentioned the caching stuff, since it's very possible that the oldest posts on this forum aren't even available here anymore.

How did I miss this gem.

I wouldn't bother with sending PMs they won't look at them. Make a petition in the petition forum to be seen. Link this post.

Good Luck.

I just wanted to say thank you all for the helpful information and assistance. It was probably evident to a lot of people here that I didn't exactly know how to go about getting into contact with the Project 1999 people, but you've all been wonderful guides (despite my not knowing how to forum)!

I'm always amazed by the community, both in game and out, who go out of their way to help point people in the proper direction. Thank you, again, truly. It means a lot.
