Quillmaine Group?

I have been trying to get the Pegasus cloak pixels solo for a while now to no avail. I am interested in knowing if 3 other brave souls would like to help me camp her in South Karana. I wouldn’t mind staying to help everyone in the group get a cloak even if I got mine already. If we run out of time to help whomever get the cloak, I’m willing to help try again another day until mission accomplished. Some people are really nice on this server and I don’t mind going the extra mile to help others out. Treat others as how you would like to be treated. I run as Ayonic, a 35 bard. I’m thinking about just setting a time to meet on a particular day and inviting only the first 3 people who show up in the zone to do the camp. Please let me know if you are interested. Quillmaine is a level 30 Warrior so please be level appropriate if you intend on joining. Thank you all for the help.

Getting a team is a good plan, but an important part is to make sure you are killing the right trigger lioness/elephant calf.

Keep a pet charmed and make a /pet attack quillmane hot key (this way your pet will tell you if it has popped, when they do happen QM pops happen within a second of killing a ph).

Ty so much jimjam for that tip. Was grouping with someone all night and it instantly let me know when quill was up. Unfortunately, no cloak yet though.

Just remember, if you're not actively killing PH's and see Quillmane is up, it's very likely someone else is actively killing PH's and looking for him. There's not really a consensus on whether it's a camp or not, but the worst part of camping him is having people KSing it. Don't be that guy.

I believe the ruling is that if you have people on every spawn point then you are camping it. Otherwise (even if you have all but one spawn point covered) you're just spawning an FTE mob anyone can take. But regardless:

the worst part of camping him is having people KSing it. Don't be that guy.

Got like 7 cloaks within a few hours. Right group + right timing = lots of spawns.

But how I got mine was walk in zone, Krill was right there, got the cloak and some bard got mad.

Thank you all for the help, I've had a GM answer this in game awhile back. Quillmane is FTE unless he pops at a spawn point you are camping. Most people have been pretty courteous about not killing him if you call out /ooc that you're trying to spawn him but there was one bad apple that technically did not KS him but acted very rude about it. I can let go if someone nice kill steals me no problem but if you act like a jerk while you're semi-KSing, we have an issue. I'm willing to let slide pixels but bad behavior, no.

Yeah, what the GM's rule and what will ruin your reputation are two different things. I.e. GM's say a person outdoors can only camp 1 spawn point of any mob, but tell that to a person camping Spec's in Oasis or any of the other hundred camps where it's common practice for people to hold more than 1 spawn and no one questions it. Sure you technically could rule-lawyer someone out of a Spec spawn, but it'd be a dick move.

If you pop Quill and someone steals it, there's definitely nothing the GM's will do, but it still makes them a dick.

If you're trying to solo Quill, then snipers are a part of the game.

Be mindful that many people killing gnolls or aviaks will help cycle the lioness or calf if it passes them, and overall this works out to your advantage. However, if you leave a Quillmane up for too long and it passes their camp, of course they are going to kill it; you had your chance while it was pathing and they have been sharing the leg work to spawn it.

If you are getting sniped too often for your tastes you have few options. The obvious being to stop spawning Quillmanes.

An alternative is to identify which spawn is being sniped and run the PHers there so you can ensure you take the Quillmane should it spawn. This will dramatically slow down the rate at which Quillmanes spawn, though.

If this doesn't please you then just write off the sniped spawn point; focus on the ones you feel you have a reasonable chance to get to.

Personally, I've found it easiest to park a pet on the hermit spawn, check the south west spawn and call out the north spawn as FFA. This way you have two reasonable chances to engage Quillmane, and are fostering good will with the thirdspawn instead of wasting tonne of time running around after it.
