Hi all,
I just came back to the game and feeling a little behind the curve on changes decided to reroll as an SK I have about 1-2 k in potential plat if I sell my old gear and was looking for suggestions on armor to get me thought the lower levels. Any suggestions on affordable armor with decent ac and str till I get encumbrance under control? I don't really know what avenues opened up in Velious gear and would appreciate your experience.

Thanks all!

Crusty is cheap and loaded with the sta (and str to a lesser extent) you need!

Can you name a piece so I can look it up?

Crustacean Shell Armor. The wiki has the set stats and recent prices for individual pieces.

Didn't even really know about this stuff myself. Some of these pieces are not bad!!

is the drop rate OK or complete sh!t?

I recently bought some Black Ice Boots for my own newbie SK self. Double the AC as Crustacean with INT and resists, but you don't get the stamina. I'm a troll so I got some to spare but as a Dark Elf I can understand wanting to opt for more HP.

They're also black, which is a major plus.

I have really no idea what I'm doing but thought I'd give my boots a shoutout.

Love those boots for a leveling Troll!

Definitely need to find me a pair still wearing mostly leather and no shoes so decent boots are a must.

In my experience you seem to get a drop, or maybe two, per quad.

classic progression is cloth -> leather (or banded) -> bronze -> fine plate -> quested items -> cultural blacksmithed or planar.

Thanks for the input guys, I got a few toys and am ready to hit the camps! Any suggestions on a good path for a dark elf, never had luck finding groups on befallen so wat thinking I'd hack my way across Norrath till I hit guk. Anyone know off hand if DE Sk are Los in guk? Memory says no but that was a decade ago.

by the way, I am asking for fun suggestions not particularly optimal.

by the way, I am asking for fun suggestions not particularly optimal.Fun suggestions? Go farm Black Iron/Alloy Armors in RunnyEye 2.0 and pretend you're not twinking.

Fine. Then purchase Fine-Plate armor and have each piece dyed a random color.

I played from about 6 months after launch, for me twinking is classic. ;)

I play a DE SK that i started from scratch.
I found groups around the commons and oasis to be pretty good at the lower levels.
If you can play your class REALLY well, you can get by with pretty bad armor for a while. Cougar claw earrings and HP rings are a good, cheap start. Hands down, best thing I did for my SK was saving up everything i could for jboots before 45 so i could easily solo clickie fear kite rathe giants and get the money i needed for decent gear.
Check out the drops at Mistmoore graveyard for SK as you'll probably be able to loot them as you hunt there.
Groups will get you too busy to stop so try and remember to loot your fair share.
