Chanter solo videos

Just a shameless plug for my videos, for any who have interest in this sort of thing and don't know about them yet:

The link in my sig is my youtube channel, full of videos of my playing my chanter, Noman, on blue. It's probably 90% solo stuff with some occasional duo/trio/group thrown in. The videos start with me around level 30 and follow the areas I spent time in all the way up to 60, with some farming of loot at 59-60 as well. I try to keep my monologues interesting and informative, and I'm usually pretty good about responding to any PMs or posts or youtube comments (or ingame tells, though those have a tendency to get me killed!) with questions about soloing, chanters, dungeons, etc.

Check them out if you have a mind to, shoot me questions, make a request (that I likely won't honor - don't tell me my business, devil woman), whatever.


Most recent video is of some success in plane of mischief on my first day ever setting foot in the zone! Up soonish are a sirens grotto video, exploring the rest of seb since my 1 seb video is short and awful, and probably poking around in the other 50+ dungeons I haven't done any videos for (chardok, velks, hole, DN... maybe even solb and lguk) eventually as well.

What, so they grow up to be entitled brats who think the world revolves around them? My kids can wait for a few minutes when I've got some leisure time set aside; they'll continue to turn out more than fine. They get to spend most of every day with me and/or their Mom, especially in the summer time. They can stand to learn a bit about being patient, about other people have interests and motivations as well, etc.

I'm regularly surprised by how many tells I get ingame from someone who either leveled a chanter because they saw my videos. More surprising are the few people who have telled me to say they got into P99 because of them, lol. I suppose they pop up for people on youtube sometimes who have interests in other games or in EQ live maybe?

New video going up shortly of Paramedix and I duoing the theatre/puppets encounter in mischief. Pretty crazy and goofy, like the rest of POM: blue con mobs that hit for 415 and have boatloads of hp, permarooted but summoners, 9 standing all in a tiny area... we did alright, killed 7 of them with two wipes cause our tactics for handling charm breaks was a work in progress :)

Can you post a video/thread post on your key macros and why you choose some subsets of spells over others

I'm really ok with answering specific questions, but for general guide info on enchanters and UI stuff you probably should read the broad guides on the wiki and whatnot. I don't really do too much with macros or keybindings that isn't easy to set up just by looking through the key bindings options ingame and using a UI with a couple of hotbars to keep clickies and other useful things out so that you don't have to type out /hidecorpse all and /loc every time you want them, etc.

I've done A4 with a VP necro, any sort of velious gear + some decent clickies should be fine.

Planning a vid of (or got tips for) farming a neriad shawl? I already killed 5 mistresses with no luck, and now wondering if there is a better strategy i.e. waiting for sea princesses to spawn (wiki says they have a higher drop rate). I'd like to get one without completely wrecking faction, if possible.

I do plan on one eventually, but I think the POM throne drop rates have me a bit miffed with more P99 atm... and when I DO play more it will probably still just be in POM cause I want the belt AND the robe... lol.

Tips though? If you don't want to ruin the faction, you probably just need to buy one. It doesn't take all that many kills to end up kos.

I never saw a princess, so I don't know how tough they are or anything. I killed a combination of a few dozen maidens and mistresses without getting a shawl, and that wasn't really that bad of luck from what I've heard. The day I did get my shawl, the duo killing neriads probably did another 15ish or so before one dropped and they let me have it.

Lol. I logged onto the forums to see what was going on because I saw I had like 15 new subscribers on my youtube channel a minute ago when I was pulling up some Jethro Tull to listen to (yes, I use youtube to listen to music. I'm awesome).

Alas, I seem no nearer to playing p99 again right now than I was a few months ago. Still enjoying Eve Online too much to come back, and I'm just not a dude that can multitask MMOs :)

I play several accounts in a null alliance (including, of course, Tecmos Deception), generally avoiding responsibilities and just smartbomb ratting my way towards the capital alts I enjoy flying the most :)

I almost tried getting into higher wh life several months ago when my corp got displaced from where we were renting back then. The smaller scale fights without tidi and BIG change from the null life I'm used to really appealed to me, but my schedule is really sporadic in Eve (which is the biggest reason I also solod all the time on P99) and a big null alliance kinda catered to that.

I'd stream Eve but I really don't think I'm worth watching... Lol.

Might actually get p99 put on my new SSD and play later tonight. Maaaybe. Kinda bummed I'm still in PoM, but I don't want to rebind out of there until I get, eh... I don't remember what I was trying to get. The robe maybe?

I even saw a Norman pop into howling stones last night. I’ll admit that my new love for that zone is largely based on your advocacy... now I complain whenever I end up in a place where there aren’t any casters to ToT

If I were you I would probably just keep my bindspot at PoM exit tree (or maybe at A4 depending on preference). You can still go do things in other zones (I'm still holding out for some Siren's Grotto videos :D). It's pretty easy to get a port from CS to where ever you need to CR (though HS can be a bit of a pain).

I get that. I like being bound up there. Have my shaman there currently. As PoM camps are all ~72 mins it's a great afk spot and a pretty boring active spot. So if I know I'll be having a day where I'm working from home and can take time to kill A4 in between doing work I will try to get it. I play from Europe and that helps as European day time, especially after noon, PoM is mostly empty.

I don't think it will ever stop being busy in prime time though.

Tried my hand at corpsing an item last night based on TD's video about it. Used discordant mind (hp pool is <800, figured nuke 600 off then a low level nuke and dot). Somehow my dumbass hit DM twice and xp deathed myself. That was a fun lesson learned

I think there's a bug with "double" hits of nukes. Something like a killing blow from a nuke shows twice even though it actually only hit once. Are you POSITIVE one nuke wouldn't have killed you?

Positive. I cast DM x2 by mistake. Corpsing shit is kind of walking a fine line between "oh look I cheated the system" and "oh look I just killed myself like a big dumbass"

Just did a 90-ish minute video in sebilis! Pretty uneventful, but it was a good crawl to the back of the ABC area, me killing a few nameds and PHs, seeing the area for the first time in like 4 years, and trying to get used to new hotkeys to see if I like using the top slot as a swap slot.

She's not really that special is she? Just more hp and more damage than fighting something like emperor or any other level 60 kunark mob? I know I went and tangled with her way back during the beta. Getting to her was just casual lull+invis dungeon travel with a bit quicker death when shit turns south cause of higher velious damage, but I gated while fighting her cause I didn't know what rampage was and she had eaten my runes up.

I know I killed some crystalline golem things in there that we're buff as fuck, iirc, though I don't think they rampaged. It's been so long already, lol.

She doesn't rampage anymore. Nothing special about her at all. I think khelker is a harder solo.

Haha, well, don't give me too much credit. I've still been too lazy to ever get a legit video editing software. So you see my first take at whatever I'm doing without clips or whatever. Though I guess I do ocassionally shoot a video that I don't upload cause it's just too unremarkable.

Edit - I take it back maybe. Did I ever publish a HS west video? I employed a little tactic in that video that was given to me by a giant on whomst shoulders I stand, and I actually spent like 2 hours fiddling with YouTube's shit editting to obfuscate his genius.

I have said this (maybe even in this thread) before, but GD I have a good time watching your videos. I have played this game a number of ways and a number of times, none of which included the enchanter before watching this series.

Your vids even guided me on my first excursion into HS with a flawless break in at 52. Unfortunately, that led to an easy lvl 53 and an overconfident attempt to break into North against 4 skellies right as the zone in was re-popping. I think every enchanter already knows the ending to this story - first lull was a crit resist and 4 HTs later I was attempting a re-break in completely naked.

Another 6 deaths later I got dragged and rezzed by a cleric and learned the fabulous lessons 2 & 3 of HS. Fight around north side as you learn the zone bc you can be dragged to basement safe spot -- always know the timer of the zone in mobs when you are trying something risky :P

Haha, glad you like them. And yeah, I've eaten my share of simultaneous HTs over the years! A tip on that note is to have a pet when you're lulling, because you can often use your pet to pick up 1-2 of the mobs coming at you before they get to you, so he soaks some HTs instead of you and you have fewer beating on you to try to get off a stun+ae mez. Not easy to salvage, but it gives you a chance at least. And fortunately even when we die, we are pretty good at CRing ourselves! Color slant also has a pretty big AOE and is something that you can time so that it fires off before stuff gets within melee range of you but when they're close enough to get hit by the stun... but it's a really twitchy thing to pull off; I usually don't. I know I say it a lot, but I love leaving old charisma gear (and dots, food, water) in the bank after I upgrade a slot, so that when I need to CR myself (especially if like, I died to a named and I'm trying to get back in to kill it asap) I can give it a real go.

I've got Tec, err, Noman, heh. I've got Noman camped out in crypt right now. I was hoping I'd find it open eventually since I've been logging in and out regularly to check... but it's been a couple days now and it's always been camped. Might have to explore around seb a bit more outside of crypt/emperor area then move over to chardok and elsewhere.

that area of EQ is not well known to many players and its like the hotel in the shining, its so creepy and wierd and the physics of the unvierse are all turned topsy turby up there!

Chardok is a lot of fun solo. I never really had a reason to go there without a group until a few days ago I camped Iksar Betrayer for a pipe then crawled around some and it was the most fun I've had since I started playing p99 again a few weeks ago.

I haven't had a chance to watch the full 90 minute video I had to skip around some so maybe I missed it, but what was the verdict on top slot swap? Getting used to it or going back to top slot CC?

Chardok used to be a fun spot for a solo chanter or druid, because the old aoe groups regularly respawned most of the zone and the shield and stave drops were quite valuable still. Was fun to zip down and look for them to snipe.

I bet its going to be more fun with the revamp, wont there be seb/HS style named camps that there arent right now?

My fave thing of the lguk style (seb is way more Lguk style than any zone in kunark imo) HS Is close too, but its like a lguk style, kunark style (random mob spawns/drops) hybrid dungeon.

but my fave thing about that style of dungeon is going to the like 1-9 named spawn camps, chardok I thought was just too 'random' for me to really enjoy as a solo enchanter, it felt like it was better to get a shaman and a monk to just melt mobs to increase spawns of random items... but then again what do i know, I havent gotten a shield or a staff to drop in my life :(

anyway im just rambling at this point. oh yea I was thinking the revamp would make chardook more fun for enchanters, am i wrong? (like do they (all the mobs) all get leveled up to like lvl 60 too?)

I don't know how much harder it will be to solo, but the wiki shows Chardok revamp has some pretty nice droppable items for Enchanter's.

Earring of Blazing Energy +2cha/+35hp/+35mana with clicky 4 second cast time Feedback, a +3cha/+35hp/+35mana clicky Illusion High Elf earring/ring. There's also a bracer, belt, and range that are close to BIS for droppable +CHA items and maybe some other things. Plus the All/All Range with 1 charge of clicky Summon Corpse.

Not sure if you ever confirmed, but the kor shamans drop the SBC per the wiki. I cringed a bit seeing you let them get killed as your pets, but I enjoy the videos nonetheless!
