A new Ransomware attack is occuring as we speak. It seems to be affecting all systems on win7 and win10 and all systems that are up to date on patches. Seems to be starting through emails with .zip/.src file extensions.

Watch your e-mails and what you open today. Seems to be hitting the EU the most but some reports of it already affecting systems world wide and in USA. Everyone be careful.

As i clicked this thread i feared OP somehow was gonna ransomware me for my droppable loot.

turns out he's a server hero..

I have a question tho, you say it comes through stuff with .zip/.src file extensions. Does hat mean just opening the email somehow gets u fuk? or is it people opening emails and actually downloading .zip files?

It seems that it started with email attachments with zips or src files, with scripts inside of them. You would need to actually download the file attachment and open/run it. However it does seem to be snaking around the world quite a bit. Huge disruption.

There is a lot of conflicting information out right now as well, making it harder to decipher how it originates. However it does seem that as long as you have kept your pc's up to date, especially after Wannacry a couple weeks back, that helps. However it seems only a couple antivirus packages are actually catching it on scans.

Best I can say, is make sure windows and antivirus is all updated and watch any suspicious emails coming in today with attachments. Otherwise, still trying to nail everything down as to what exactly is happening. It does seem to be a variant of Petya.
