Hi -

I don't have jboots, so quadding is annoying. As someone pointed out to me, there is so much med time on Wiz that pots are not very economical.

Any suggestions on how to quad better with no sow? Or good single target locations?

Once I am high enough, not sure when, I'll move over to OOT for a chance at the AC, but for now, I'll need some levels.

Any suggestions?

Pots get expensive when it takes 7 mins to med for 1 quad

Quad in OT, beg/tip for SoW from all the Druids passing through porting. You will be sowed more often than not. If not, kill singles in the meantime. That will be your best bet absent JBoots.

41..trying to remember...i think Quadding in either fv (growlers) dl(yetis outside tunnel) or loio (blood gills...usually camped) are your best bet. Should be able to bum sow, c2, potg in tunnel(gate to nro, bind near camp). Once you get 45ish EW ulthorks or Ogre mercs can be good. Merc assignments can be turned in for xp/ faction in SS.

On my blue wiz I used to just bind where I was quadding and med/ bum a sow in wc. Always was able to find 2 or 3 Druids around. Sometimes I would get them from the same guy the whole session and just chat while I quadded/he ported people.

TL;DR
make some friends

3-4 quads a click. 10 clicks for 100p. 120-160 mobs dead per potion.

You don't make 100 plat in killing that many mobs? Sow potions are still economical in those moments where you can't quickly bum a sow from a stranger.

They cost like 3 gold per minute.

If that's expensive in your 40s, you need to consider doing something to make some plat.

Thanks for all the replies - and good ideas. I will buy some pots and charm some druids.

Maybe sticking to OT ramp I will make enough cash porting to offset pot recharges when there aren't any SOWers around.

Stay in OT until 46.

Med near the ramp and enjoy all the free buffs. Its easy to bum SoW from druids on the ramp and offer to port people when you wanna take a break from quadding. 2-3 ports and you'll be able to afford a SoW pot. While you're leveling in OT, pop into SRO at 8pm gametime and try to snag AC. Pro-Tip: Port enchanters for free and soon you'll have C/C2 on all the time and it will be non-stop quadding.

OT is amazing for wizards, you'll miss it when you're fighting necros for a bloodgills camp and/or dodging spiders in DL.

You should be able to take on the OOT AC camp at 49 but your mana regen will fall behind if you get multiple cyclopses in a row. It will be easier at 51 with your new, more efficient DD.

This is only if you are sitting at the computer every second of your session and at most you're going to get 3 quads in one charge. It takes 7-10 minutes to med to full, depending on how deep your mana pool is. I'll be generous and say it only takes 7 minutes. I'll be kind again and say it takes 1 minute to gather your quad and 2 minutes to kill it. 7+1+2=10 minutes. a Sow lasts 36 minutes. 3 kites at most. But, realistically you're looking at 10 minutes of medding, 2 minutes of pulling and 3 minutes of killing, or about 15 minutes per quad.

People vastly underestimate just how long it actually takes to do something in this game all the time.

And really, who the hell wants to sit and watch their wizard med all the time? Quadding is boring as hell and the only reason to do it is because it's exp you can do while mostly afk.

You have to stall finishing off the mob when it enters flee mode to med up / give harvest an opportunity to cycle.
