Anyone else play this awesome game?

I played the heck out of Call of Pripyat too.

Was just going through some obscure film stuff and stumbled across THIS:

Stalker (1979) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079944/)

Apparently this was the movie that inspired the game, and not the other way around?

Very excited as I'm a huge fan of the world in the games. Will probably watch in the next couple of weeks if I can convince a fellow friend and fan to sit through a 2.5 hr black and white Russian sci fi movie.

If ur into russian nuclear movies check out Pisma mertvogo cheloveka if you can even find it. Slow but definitely fits an apoc world. (also named dead man's letter)

I want to point out that the Stalker movie came out BEFORE the Chernobyl disaster!!!

I didn't realize that. Pretty fucking cool. I really loved the mystical element of the "wish room" at the end of SoC and that they incorporated multiple endings based on your game history.

Remember that mission where you go into the sewers and have to fight the first Bloodsucker? I got so scared I closed the game immediately and couldn't come back til the next day.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is the shiznit. Recently saw a vid of the Call of Chernobyl mod + addons for Call of Pripyat (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzB1MY8tpHw) and it rekindled some interest in the Zone.
After rolling the dice a bunch in ironman mode I returned to a modded Shadow of Chernobyl and it's still got what it takes to get one immersed.

I think STALKER classifies as a gun porn game. Just something about the look and sound of the firearms when you're in a epic gun fight taking cover behind a concrete barricade or train car that makes it so much better.
Or a giant mound of radioactive trash! heh

yea i should specify FEAR is less of a jerk around roleplay half-life style game, its more of a pipe boss style game where u jump right into a very fearful experience immediately with many unknowns and big theater scares.

its a diff type of game than STALKER, but same genre. FEAR is likely the greater of the two as far as big theater scares and shutting the game down goes

FEAR is more set piece rail game STALKER is more bethesda without the gay there both good to

gud way 2 put it. need a 5.1 sound system to really get the FEAR experience and freak yourself out. like a Disney ride.

They have a department dedicated to doing this and you can go to college to learn how.

I'll get FEAR in a couple of months when i build a new gaming PC. And yea Baler the FPS immersion CHEEKY BREEKY swigging purple vodka to reduce your rads while popping shots over the barrier at a group of bandits and watching your ammo stocks sink dangerously low got me fucking WET for that game for years to come.

I still need a while before giving it another runthru given how much I played it 5 or 6 years ago.

Meanwhile, I had fun last month with PUBG as it pretty much was as close to a multiplayer STALKER that I think we'll ever get. Hopefully someone mods that shit to add in anomaly servers.

whoah just saw the title to this and came to say its one of the better games out there way ahead of its time and also a catastrophic failure of a final delivery, which is ironically also very ahead of its time for the survival genera.

Yeah but, to be fair. Nobody has made one of these types of games that isnt a buggy piece of shit yet, that pubg game is only good if you rationalize it as "the best so far" or "good enough to not be total dogshit"

while, this looks like the first version of these FPS open world survival games that the world will play, instead of us internet gamer denizens and twitch 13 year olds.

Anyone remember hearing how trump told his admissions operators for his school to never say thank you, say congratulations when someone enrolles, when someone is congratulated they generally say thank you and we want them thanking us when they give us a check.
